  1. All I can say is that you are very lucky!!!! Id kill for a job at the MICU!
  2. This is so depressing... I regret doing nursing! I should have just gone to med school!
  3. Hi firegirl711 By doing what you are told when testing your CPNE i meant, literally do what you are told. they are incredibly picky with documentation. I flunked coz i didn't write "NO EDEMA NOTED" on my notes during a skin assessment even though it was OBVIOUS that patient had no edema based on all the other stuff I wrote on the note!!! Also, I struggled with the CPNE because they require you to do a lot of stuff with patients, and I could tell that patients were getting incredibly aggravated and impatient, like, they regret having said yes to a student. I had no problems with their exams, it was just the clinical part that got me. Luckily I was able to get into a LPN-RN program in CA and am a RN now. If you have any questions or need help with anything, please let me know, I'd be glad to help! :)
  4. Hello my name is Patricia and I'm an unemployed new grad License type: ASN Time out of school: 2 months # of positions applied to date: about 30 Dream RN position: ICU Hospital experience: None but I have 4 yrs of experience as a LVN Where do you live: Palm Springs area What are you doing now: Pediatric home care as a LVN Favorite color: blue How you cope with unemployment: I binge
  5. Where do you work? I do pediatric home care right now and I have experience with trach, ventilator and g-tube... I am in California right now but I'm planning on moving back to Massachusetts soon
  6. I just applied, I should be starting in the fall. I heard it's a great program!
  7. I would advise you to DO WHAT YOU ARE TOLD when you go test for your CPNE... i unfortunately was unable to complete the program, I flunked it 3 times...
  8. I want to get a government job... how competitive are they? if anyone could answer my question, I'd greatly appreciate it!
  9. thank you very much RN12PTL. I know this won't be easy, but I'm praying they will even give me a chance to be interviewed so I can explain my bad grades. I already have a speech prepared and everything! I am not going to make excuses, I mean, NO ONE wants excuses, I am just going to tell them what happened and how immature I was back then and how much I've grown up and realized that doing good in school is the key for a successful career. I still feel like a failure for failing 2 nursing programs, but what is done is done, I can either sit here and cry my life away because I am a failure or do something about it. I've heard of people getting into grad school with less than a 3.0 GPA, so why can't I?? thank you for the support!!! :)
  10. Hey if you find the answer to this question, please let me know! I think ICU and ER are equally marketable. They are more marketable than med-surg
  11. Would you guys be able to tell me how competitive their FNP program is? I want to apply but I'm not sure about my cumulative GPA... my last school I had a 3.0 GPA (30 credits), but my previous school I had like, a 2.7 or something... I wonder if I'm automatically disqualified or if they would consider me
  12. thank you, MochaRN424! I know my chances of getting into a DNP program are VERY SLIM, but I am very capable of getting good grades. I did 72 credits at my first college before transferring into a nursing school (that includes science courses and nursing pre-recs) and I had a 3.7 GPA... after that my life went to hell and so did my grades due to the personal problems I was dealing with at the time. I have been doing research and some people here have been saying they got into a DNP program with less than a 3.0 GPA (they had to sell themselves at the college interview and explain why they got bad grades), so it seems like it's not impossible. I'm studying for the GRE, I believe that if I do well they might not even care about my grades so much. I think I also have the option of doing the NP/MSN program, getting good grades and then going for my phD... If anyone has any recommendations on what I could do to get into a BSN-DNP program I'd greatly appreciate it. I know things may look hopeless for me but I do have a dream and I'm not giving up!!! I'm not a quitter, EVER!!!
  13. yes I have passed the NCLEX the first time. I am pretty sure I want to become a nurse practitioner! I'm not giving up on my dream. I am just hoping that some school out there will give me a chance! I went through a lot of personal problems at the time, that's why I was unable to complete those nursing programs.
  14. I feel like a failure! I've flunked 2 nursing programs in the past and I have FINALLY graduated from one! My dream is to become a DNP but I am not sure if any college will take me. I have something like a 3.0 GPA in all of my credits combined (3.0 GPA from my last school). What are my chances of getting into a BSN-DNP program? I am afraid schools are going to think I'm a failure!
  15. Hi guys. I am planning on getting my BSN online and I want to go to grad school to become a nurse practitioner or a PA. Does anyone know if I will have trouble getting into any grad school because I got my BSN online?
