I’m wanting to start a medspa in Utah. Does anyone know how to go about finding a provider to work under? I’ll be an NP in about 2 years but I would like to start the business now and just take over as provider when I pass boards. Anyone have experience in where the found a provider and how much they paid them to supervise? Thanks!

So I didn't get in my first time, but i forgot to bring my immunizations records with me to the interview:sorry: so I pretty much knew I wouldn't. I just interviewed for my second time on tuesday so will be finding out in about 2 weeks if I got in or not. They pretty much just ask the general interview questions just more situational, they'll give you a situation and ask what you would do kind of thing. It's pretty hard to prepare for cause you just don't know. I can't really say what the essay is like, it's hard to explain, and I signed an agreement to not really discuss it. I'm assuming you probably interviewed today or yesterday if you had one for the fall semester? I think today was the last day that they said they had interviews, so I'm probably not very helpful...

I've applied for Weber state university for fall, sent in my application Jan 15 and will know by the end of March. I'll also be applying to UVU for fall and won't apply til April and know by i think June or July.

My interview had a group interview where there was a scenario and we each had to be on different sides of the argument and decide who was at fault, and three one on one interviews, where I was asked about how I chose nursing, and where I wanted to go with it. I was also asked to describe a challenging situation where I felt I had handled it well (or something along those lines). I was asked some situational questions, like if I was the oldest of three siblings and my dad was seriously injured and had to be put in long term care how would we decide who had to pay for it and take care of him. The interview also then had a timed essay. I think It all depends on the school that you're applying to on how extensive it will be and the type of questions they will ask.

I'm applying to Weber state and the deadline is Jan 15, we'll know by the end of March. Also applying to UVU for the 2nd time, and that doesn't open until April, will know by June or July. It's crazy how different every school i'm looking into deadlines are! Can't wait to apply and find out, it seems so far away!

Im a prenursing student at uvu, and to get into their program you first have to apply and based on your gpa and teas score you are selected to interview. After that acceptance isis based just on your interview. The interview took 2 and a half hours... it consisted of a group interview, 3 one on one intervie ws and a timed essay. Has anyone gone through a similar interview? I had mine October 18 and im not sure how to feel about it...we wont know for 2 weeks if we are accepted or not. They take 40 people a semester and last semester 80 candidates were interviewed. Im just wanting to know what other schools inyerview process is like? Crossing my fingers i get in just so i dont have to interview again.

My application period ended september 20th and within a week you get an email saying whether or not you get an interview. I had my interview Oct 18th and wont know if accepted or not for another 2 weeks, acceptance is contingent on background check and drug test. Its crazy how competitive it is, i had a 3.75 gpa snd teas score of 88%, which got me an interview. but acceptance is based just on the interview now which was two and a half hours long.Crossibg my fingers but trying not to get my hopes up too high just in case!

For the school I'm applying to, it says the average score to receive an interview is 80-84. I studied for 2 weeks on and off, and one week everyday for a few hours. Overall I got 88%. I felt reading and math were very straight forward, but thought for sure science and english killed me. I did better then I was expecting while taking the test. I used the ATI study guide and online practice tests and some youtube videos to help with math.

My anatomy instructor basically explained exactly what we needed to do in the syllabus to do well in the class and what books he recommended. I would definitely recommend in getting a color atlas for when you can't make it to lab to study. It shows everything. I got a little older version of mine on amazon for about $40 and it worked great, so you don't have to spend a lot of money. I also recommend making it to lab in any spare time, and not to put it off until later. The first half of the semester, I was doing bad because I hadn't figured out how to study and wasn't making enough time to study. After I started using my atlas more and going to lab more I was able to go from a 66 on my midterm to a 91 on my final, and came out with an A. It was definitely the hardest A I have ever worked for, but also the most excited and accomplished I've ever felt seeing my grade. Find what works for you as early on as you can, having a study partner is definitely helpful as well to go over flash cards with and to quiz you. Good luck!

NOT worth it.You will not make enough money to be worth having to pay $33,000. I'm a medical assistant and all of the girls I work with went to a tech school that didn't cost more than probably 5,000.

I'm a MA right now, and did my schooling during my senior year of high school. I LOVE my job, I only work part time while i'm doing my pre-reqs for nursing. I think it just depends on the amount of schooling you are doing and the cost of it on whether or not it's worth it. My schooling was only 8 months during my senior year, and I only had to pay a total of probably like $800, so for me that was worth it. I'm a certified medical assistant, so I don't have a degree, but I was still able to find a job. If you're planning on getting your associates degree in medical assisting, I don't think it would be worth it, you might as well go the nursing route. For how much MA's are paid I don't think it's worth paying that much for school, I make more than I would at any job if I hadn't become a MA but not nearly as much as a new nurse would.

I'm applying for UVU's nursing program for fall 13. My pre req GPA is about a 3.8 right now if I remember correctly but I'm Still taking my last 3 pre reqs right now. I haven't taken the TEAS test yet, if you have what was your score and hOw was it. I think a 3.71 is good enough if you also have a good teas score. If you go to the UVU website and go to the nursing program I think it says the mean for those accepted is about a 3.70.

Thanks so much all of you! I'm actually excited to start anatomy and physiology, since i've just been doing general's, and this is more medical which i love! I will definitely need to get a ton of flash cards, and do them over and over. I think i'll do better in anatomy than physiology since I do OK memorizing things, and have taken an anatomy class in the past. Have any of you taken the TEAS test? I'm taking it sometime next semester and any help for that would be great also! :)

I'm working on my pre-reqs to apply for UVUs nursing program fall 2013. In the spring I'm taking anatomy with lab, physiology with lab, and human growth/ development and I'm just looking for any tips on staying on top of my classes and staying organized. Any advice is helpful and appreciated! Also has anyone here taken anatomy at UVU I've heard it's one of the hardest classes at the school and want to know your experiences with it. Thanks! I'm so excited to be finishing my pre-reqs any other fall '13 hopefuls? :)

My mom has been single for the past 8 years and never made more than 25,000 a year and has raised 3 kids/teenagers(not on food stamps, doesn't qualify for medicaid.) She bought each of us a used care when we were 16 with her tax refunds and always provided us with whatever we needed. She's about 10,000 dollars in debt, if she had been making 50,000 or even 40,000 a year through out that time she would have no debt and i'm sure even money saved. If you live frugally it is possible. We live in Utah where the cost of living isn't necessarily high, if she made as much as a nurse (by no means is it "big bucks") she would be much better off.

If anyone has any study tips for anatomy, or physiology they'd like to share, I'd really appreciate it! :)

I'm always seeing topics, where people are asking if anyone here goes to their school. So, I've decided to start one for everyone, to help find someone going to the same school you go to or plan on going to! You can include whether you've been accepted, still working on your pre-reqs or already in the program, as well as your pre-req GPA and TEAS/HESI score.:) I'm taking my pre-requisites for nursing at Utah Valley Univeristy, i plan on applying for Fall 2013. Right now, i only have one pre-req finished so my GPA is a 4.0, after this semester i'm guessing it will be about a 3.7-3.8. In the Spring i'm taking anatomy, physiology, and psychology and i will be done with my pre-reqs. I haven't taken the TEAS test yet but will in the Spring. Also any tips for pre-reqs and for studying for the TEAS would be greatly appreciated. I'm so excited to apply and hopefully get accepted!!:) Any other pre-nursing/nursing students go ahead!

In the Spring i'll be taking Anatomy with lab, Physiology with lab, Psychology(human development lifespan, and one "fun" class that I haven't decided yet! :) Also I still have to take the TEAS. My school's application period is from the 3rd monday in April to the 3rd Friday in May.
