  2. Northeast Alabama Community College, Rainsville Alabama. I graduate LPN Aug 2006, reapply to RN in May 2007, graduate May 2008!! I am 40 this year, this was my midlife crisis... Boy has my life changed. Wooohooo!!!!
  3. Thanks Guys!! I passed my first 2 tests today!!!! I think I will "Pop a Top" now!!!! Cheers!!!!!
  4. I am in nursing school. I am 39 yrs old and every once in a while I would like to drink a beer or mixed drink while I am out with my husband. If they give me a drug test the next day, or a few days later, would I fail and be thrown out of the program? I am NOT an person who drinks regularly. I have had 2 beers this year...but...this last few weeks have really been rough and I would like to drink one every once in a while to relax...what do yall think? :)
  5. This is my first year and at orientation they gave little gift bags with pens, highlighters, little note books, book bags, etc.. They drew numbers from a box and the number was written on your folder. It felt good to "win" even if it was a pen/pencil set! Also, each graduating student put a few words of wisdom on a card with their name and number in the folders to call when you need encouragement. That was nice....
  6. Try studyspanish.com. I get on this site alot and its FREE.
  7. :balloons: Congratulations!!!! I know you are excited. Good Luck!!!
  8. Well? What happened? Did you pass?
  9. Sorry, I am no longer talking to my ex-sister-in-law. I caught her last week with another man!!! :argue: She is also under investigation by the ABN for Drug Abuse. We are shocked and sad. She is a very messed up lady....
  10. I live in Northeast Alabama and our law says you can bury someone on your property if it is deeded as a cemetary. That stops someone from coming in and building or digging around the graves...
  11. I am taking...A&P II Psy (Human growth & dev) Religion 101 I applied to one school and couldn't get Financial Aide, but I got into the LPN program...I am in another school where I get Financial Aide, but I dont know if I am in the program yet...boy I hope they don't do that to me...I will seriously sit down and cry...
  12. I am going to have to stick myself???? I have very bad veins. They roll and are tough. I don't know about that sticking myself stuff.... :uhoh21:
  13. Gadsden and Northeast. I have a sister-in-law who is a RN and applying to Riverview. She said they give a $1500 signon bonus for RN's. I wonder if they do for LPN's too?
  14. I applied for RN program but got accepted in the LPN program. I was wondering what the pay per hour difference is in Alabama? Any body have a guess?
  15. :balloons: :balloons: Yeah!!!!! Congrats...I will be starting my LPN classes this fall if I get a scholorship. I went with my sister-in-law, and RN, to job search. I was so shocked by how everyone treated her. They fell allover themselves when they found out she was a nurse. It made me want to go to school. I cant wait to walk in and have people want me... :)
  16. I heard on a radio program that every person swallows up to 20 spiders a year in his/her sleep. They apparently crawl in and we chew them up and swallow them. I almost fainted when I heard this!!! :uhoh21:
  17. Lady died a year later. Colon Cancer. Nice lady... I didn't know what was happening. I just did what the nurse told me to do. They knew she was dying and they would "step out" of the room while we "helped" her get some relief...She had given birth to twins in the past. She would look at her stomach and say "I am bigger than when I had my babies"....
  18. This doesn't answer your question, but I have one. What is the "coffee ground looking stuff"? I worked at a nursing home and we had a lady who's stomach would get distended like you said. She would have us cover the bed once a week with sheets and such while she pressed her stomach and this "coffee ground looking stuff" would come from her bowels. (Gross, but effective.) Sorry so graffic...
  19. There are some in Alabama. The most sucessful is ran by a lady and her husband. They are both at home with them at all times. If they leave, they get thier daughter to sit for them. It is demanding, but very rewarding when you keep someone who is terrified of nursing homes from having to go to one. :)
  20. I was waiting till this past weekend. I was not accepted in the RN program. I was so disappointed. I like a couple of Biology classes and I was hoping to finish them while in the program, but the competition was tough. They said I could get in the LPN program though. I guess I will have to. I am so sad. I really need to do this. My husband has been disabled since June of 2003 and I need to make a living for us. Oh well...I guess I will have to get over it. Anyone else out there had to LPN first, then went back to RN?
  21. These are really gross.. Mine happened one day at the Nursing Home I was working at as a CNA. I set out trays in the dining area one table at a time. I was almost finished when I heard the people at the table across the room saying, "EWWWWWW". (FYI..when you hear these people saying EWWWWW you better brace yourself!) A lady had vomited into her plate. She spit out her false teeth in the process. She calmly picked up her teeth sucked them clean and started eating again...gross!!!
  22. Boy, I know what you guys mean. I too am waiting to see if I get in the program this fall. This will be my 3rd time. ( No money both times).I got in the first time right off. The last time I didn't find out I got in until right before the fall semester started. This time I have a scholorship lined up to help me, but I am afraid they are tired of fooling with me. I hope they give me another chance. I am 39 this month and I feel like this is my last chance to do this. I am so excited, I know people are getting tired of hearing about this. They just get that glazed look in their eyes when I start talking about it. I try to not talk about it so much but my mind is always on it... I have started to crotchet a poncho. I hope to wear it to classes this fall.... :)
