Clogs vs sneakers vs walking shoes, which one?
Having worked in the Operating Room, I alternated with Danskos and Nike Air Max's. The busy days which is mostly everyday I wore my Air Max's, after all those shoes are made for running. Paid about $200 but its worth it after working a 12hr day with hard cases...

Got cc page after delivery successful
I had the same scenario as you. It was my 3rd try last month. I also got 8 SATA, tons of priority atleast half the test , an exhibit, 2 drug calcs and 1 dragnDrop. I felt so confident that I passed only to find out it was a failure. Did pvt and went straight to CC. I hoped that pvt was inaccurate, I must have tried the trick atleast5x but nope it was a failure. Now I am studying like its my first time, did a refresher course and im moving along. Deactivated FB, I havent checked my email in god knows how long, and I only go online once in awhile to read positive stories here on allnurses. I have isolated myself from any distractions. Passed the depressed stage and game face on. Left it all behind and I'm praying for the best...

need study buddy in ny , going to give test in may
i suggest that maybe you need some kind of a refresher course being that this is your 4th time. i am taking mine for the 4th time as well sometime next month. i took the feuer live review in ny ( had to do 30hrs remedial course as per njbon to retake exam ) and i see a big change in how i answer practice questions. i guess i truly needed a content review being that i graduated 4 yrs ago. i thought a self review was sufficient enough at first till i failed for the 3rd time last feb. something had to change, study ethics and materials had to be changed. the more i am practicing, the more sata's , priority questions i am able to answer correctly with the application of content of course. this plan is working for me, you have to do what works best for you and achieve what[color=#ee82ee] you have planned out. these are the materials i am using: ~ pda lacharity ~ feuer homework practice questions ( for every segment of the review they gave us about 200 questions on each subject plus a cd that they recommend using 3-5 wks after the course.) ~ exam cram ~ saunders comprehensive - i only go back to this book for a more in depth explanation on content. i also found out that i would rather review alone. i get easily distracted so i find that studying alone i focus much better than being in a group setting. again, do what works for you!

Australian nurses taking NCLEX exam
[color=#b22222]" also, keep in mind that nclex tests for entry-level knowledge." i totally agree. i just recently took a review course and they kept repeating over and over and over again that this exam is for entry level knowledge. if i had a dollar for everytime the instructors reminded us, it would have paid for the course itself and more.

Test questions taken directly from random NCLEX book. Unfair?
I think you should be thankful that you are ALREADY practicing NCLEX type questions. Not just from one source but random ones. Variety prepares your critical thinking pad in order for you to answer any type of questions thrown at you during your actual exam. " They may have 4 equally correct answers and we have to be psychic to figure out what the instructor was thinking when they wrote it " and that my dear is what we call PRIORITIZING. there will be plenty of those on the nclex. You might be frustrated now, because you just want to pass and graduate already. But I think once you sit for your exam, you will be thanking those instructors for preparing you well.

Took My boards April 11th
Congratulations! I am so happy for you, and thank you for the materials that you've shared as well. Just curious though, do you think the LaCharity book prepared you for it? I am almost done with mine, it's taking me awhile to finish it because i'm alternating that and feuer homework practice questions. Again, congrats you deserved it, and I wish you the very best in your future endeavors. Cheers!

Help passing NCLEX
I think your answer might be a simple antianxiety med. I was told by the instructor that no matter how hard you prepare/study for this exam, if your nerves get to you you are bound for failure. My instructor for psyc had actually recommended to take a pill the morning of the exam to alleviate anxiety (for those who are severe). I might just take her advice the day of my exam.

good nclex review pn in south florida
You should try checking out Feuer Live Review. I just completed their one week of Live review in Manhattan. I read on the their brochure that they are going to be in Miami in May. Not sure of the exact dates but they will be down south Florida since we just finished the NY class yesterday. I recommend taking this class. Good for content review specially to those who have graduated awhile back like myself and need a refresher.

failed pn boards 3 times what should i do?
nursexo is right, it doesn't matter how many times you have failed. Be persistent and do not give up. I have failed 3 times as well and now have to take a remedial course as per NJBON. My classes start this saturday with Helen Feuer. I am excited and hoping the remedial classes will be the change I needed to pass my 4th time around. Here is a list of study materials that I added to my routine: ~ Exam Cram Pn ~ Prioritization Delegation and Assignment by La Charity ~ Helen Feuer Audio -heres the link : Nursing Information Technology: Feuer Nursing Review Lecture (audio) Free Download ~Still using Saunders 5th ed. for more content. I strongly believe that if you lack content then you won't be successful in answering questions. No matter how many strategies, techniques you learned on how to answer questions. ~ Planning on enrolling for the 3wk NCSBN course once I get to schedule my exam. The most important of all is, you have to evaluate the way you are studying. You might be studying too much and nothing is retaining. That was my mistake. At first I couldnt accept my failure since I studied so hard. Too hard actually that I ended up failing. I need to slow down and not rush. I have to do it differently this time or else it will never be an ending cycle of failures.

Almost 4 years, no luck finding nursing job, life destroyed?!
don't give up. like someone said there are always other people that are in worse situations. i know its tough, we all have different dilemmas in life that affect us. as for me i have turned to prayers and meditation when i am down and out. when i feel alone and that feeling of isolation from the world. i realized if all else fails ( therapy, medicine, etc.) you can only turn to one person. being a catholic i believe in the healing from the lord above. i am not a devoted catholic nor go to church every sunday but i do believe in my god and in prayers. i have seen him bring good things to people that have faith. i pray not to have good luck in life but to bring me peace. a peaceful mind can bring in serenity, calmness and alleviate any mental stress or anxiety. which leads to a happier you, regardless of the situation. here is a serenity prayer that i go by. i hope this could be of use to you as it has for me. god, give us grace to accept with serenitythe things that cannot be changed, courage to change the thingswhich should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguishthe one from the other. living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, taking, as jesus did, this sinful world as it is,not as i would have it,trusting that you will make all things right,if i surrender to your will,so that i may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with you forever in the next. amen.

Best and Worst places for LPN opportunities
Thank you all. I guess all that's left really is a little bit of luck and persistency to get a job anywhere regardless of where to apply.

First job years after graduation
No im not an LPN yet, still working on getting licensed. Graduated 5 years. Been in the medical field for atleast 10 years. Two years as a unit clerk, six years being a Scrub Tech and the last two, Materials Manager for the O.R. Hospital setting is nothing new to me, but the line of work is obviously different. I just wanted to know how everyone prepared for their first job as a nurse without any experience at all. Why do I want to be a nurse if I already had a great job? Because I love nursing, I want to be a nurse, Ive always wantd to be one ever since I was little. Its easier for me to go the LPN route then a bridge program for RN..

Is a $13,000 LPN program worth it?
$10,000 for Northern NJ back in 2005 when my program started. $13,000 is not a big difference considering that mine was priced 6 years ago! I do have to agree, you might as well go straight for ADN program. If not do your research on other schools in your area. Just a little heads up, you might want to really do your homework on your schools. Sometimes the easier to get in (w.o doing an entrance exam) tends to be the higher priced school than actually testing for the program. I am not saying it is usually a scam but I have heard of stories around Jersey that schools closed b/c the BON would not accredit it for so many reasons. Failure rates might be really high because the students were lacking knowledge and the teachers hired were inexperienced. Some just take your money and not even have the actual program. It's hard to believe but it does happen!

document signing
Exactly, if something were to happen you would be held responsible! Your basically signing your license away. I wouldn't sign anything that I had nothing to do with. I was told the same when I did my community nursing in a meth clinic. Seek advice from your supervisor and see what the policy is about an incomplete document.
