No idea what the minimum should be but you should look for smaller class sizes and a pass rate in the 90's at least. There is no point in paying all the money and spending all the time in school if your not going to pass the NCLEX. Universities do not necessarily = better schools. There is a nursing college in green bay wi that only has a pass rate of 75%, whereas the tech school I go to has a pass rate of 97%. Granted our LPN and RN programs are not BSN's but with our ADN we only need 1 semester at a university to get the BSN. Which is much cheaper considering the tech school charges $135 a credit whereas the university charges $250 per credit and more depending on if the class is in person or online. So, check around and see what is available, what fits your schedule and budget.

As a doula I've heard of this before. I've never experienced it, nor had any clients that have done it, but if they did I would just go with the flow. I don't personally think there is anything to it other than respecting the families wishes and whatever they believe. Does it hurt? Meh, probably not. I do think the woman in the article is a bit fruity though. I've been to Australia, twice, and the last time was specifically for nursing and the culture there is drastically different from the US.

We were told to think of the sata Q like t/f Q. And that the q will always have more than 1 choice but never all 5 answers. As for calculations, google da calculations. It's super easy and will always get you the right answer. If u need help u can always msg me.

Don't stress too much. Take a day to relax and go in to the test with a clear head.

Our school uses ATI and most of us like it. The website isn't the most user friendly but the content is good.

I put in an application to my local nursing home. They hired me, trained me and took me on after I was certified.

Do 20 nclex questions every night before bed. Don't read too much into them. If you don't know the answer or guess wrong, read the correct rational and move on. Also, I have an app on my iPhone, iPod, and iPad (the free one on all the devices) so I can practice questions wherever I am. It's called ATI NCLEX or something similar. In the app store (it is available for android and blackberry phones too) search ati nclex and you should find it. I'm cheap and only ever practiced with the free version but if you want the paid version it's $20.

I took the test at 8am thur and didn't think to check my states application page till today Friday at 7:30am and there it said that my status was still pending (in process) but it did have verification from nclex that I passed and all my requirements were fulfilled. Then today at about 3pm I got an email from the licensing board that I was good to go and that within an hour I would be listed on the site and it was official. This is what it said ....... "PAGE1 Applicable Blanks completed2-24-12 update: Congratulations! You have been issued your permanent WI license. Your license number should be on our website (drl.wi.gov, then click on "look up a license") at this time or within one hour. The website is an official verification that you have been issued your permanent license. Your paper license should be mailed within 15-20 business days. You do not need your paper license in hand in order to work."

I have done CNA work for quite a while now and while working at the nursing home we were only scheduled 35h so they did not have to pay full time benefits. In saying that we always worked over that amount and were paid overtime. BUT what usually ended up happening is since we were paid every 2 weeks, the first week you had to work 60+hrs (because of call-ins and being mandated to stay) but the second week they would only let you work whatever you needed to get to 80 hours total in 2 weeks. So in by doing that they justified not paying overtime because your pay period hours were not over 80. If they were really short, like at flu season usually, and they did let you work more than 80h they then paid the overtime. But it didn't happen often. Now in explaining that, I have a complaint to ****** about. I've been doing home health care for 5 years now. Every agency I've been with (3 total- 2 part time jobs and 1 full time job at once) does NOT pay ANY over time. Our scheduled hours are 1 24h shift and 1 12h shift a week and the left over hrs are picked up by whoever wants them. So, you can work any amount of hours you want and you will always be paid the same amount. The way they justify this is that the hours of 10pm and 6am are considered "hours of sleep" and are not eligible for overtime. EVEN if you do not sleep or only sleep part of the time it does not matter. The client can be asleep all night or can be up all night with alarms going off every 5 mins and requiring continuous care and you get regular pay. No shift differentials either. That really chaps my ass. Oh and since I'm on a rant lol the client I take care of is a smoker, 2-3 packs a day smoker, and us caregivers are NOT covered covered by the smoking regulations. So,1. We work crappy long hours. 2. Have no overtime (we only make $9/h btw)3. No health insurance4. And have to deal with smoking ( I'm a non-smoker BTW)5. Get zero vacation/sick timeYa, you can see why I'm in the rn program. I'm tired of getting the shaft from "the man"!!!!!

Not true. I passed with 85 questions and took about 2-2.5 hours. I wanted to make sure I was reading everything correctly and not skipping any important words just because I was rushing.

Anything is accepted at the tech colleges generally. It's once your in the program that it matters, and for fa. FA I believe requires 2.5 or better to continue receiving funds. I am in a WI school and our adn lpn and rn do not per se have a gpa requirement but science classes have to be passed at a B or better and nsg classes must be passed at 80%or better (all exams must average 80% or better to pass the class). It depends on how your personal life will be affected. If you can spend a lot of time on classes, and I mean a lot, then maybe you can do it. But if you have to work full time and have kids, then I wouldn't recommend it. A good rule of thumb to go by is for every hour you are in school, you should be putting in 2-4 (probably 4hrs for science classes) hours in homework/studying. So, if a&p lecture is 2h 2days a week and the lab is 3h 2days a week, in that one class alone you should be putting in 4h(lecture)+6h(lab)=10(hours a week your actually in class) x 2, and x by 4, gives you a range of 20-40hours out of class study time. If the material is easy to you, you may only need the 20 hours of study time, if you find it hard/confusing or unfamiliar you may need 40 or more hours of study time. Hope that helps. It really is best to only take one science class a semester.

I have NO idea why they required it. They are severely inflexible so I didn't even bother to fight it. I've learned to pick my battles with the rn program.

Your tb and physical should be good. The only thing with the tb could be if you've had a 1 vs 2 step test. My physical was for a WI school and while it looked detailed, it was a simple in and out appt. Ours had crap like vag exam, which personally to me my lady parts has NOTHING to do with my ability to go to school. But all n all I did it with my yearly pap exam n that was it. That was a year ago and now the school has totally gotten rid of the physical requirement.

Just a suggestion and you can take it for what it's worth, but if English is not your first language, maybe taking an English class would help. Nclex is hard enough, and when even one word is missed, not understood or is misinterpreted, it can make the question seem totally different from what it is really asking.

Where did you graduate from?

I'm not sure if your Kaplan study thing is the same one I've heard about, but the one up here (wi/mi) has a Kaplan that is somewhere around $400-600 but if you fail they pay for your future testing fees till you pass.
