  1. I registered with CogentId...but how do I get the fingerprint cards? Who sends them to me?
  2. You can consider it all you want but no one is gonna hire a new grad.
  3. It's a hospital...not a hotel.
  4. Also had a lady who drank a fleet enema. She cut off the tip and put a straw in it. She still pooped though..
  5. Lol I asked the same thing... I guess cuz they are wearing scrubs? And dang did ya see how tight those scrub tops were? It looked uncomfortable . I think big boobs were a prequisite
  6. I thought it was sarcasm actually ?
  7. To be honest I haven't really experienced 2 much of that with new grads. A few bad apples, here and there. Most are excited and eager to learn. The ones who are not don't last very long.
  8. I started in ED as new grad and was scared to death and that was over 10 years ago. I never dared pull any of that crap. Overconfidence kills patients

I don't feel guilty. We are not helping them by feeding their addiction. Those are the patients who end up face down dead in a ditch somewhere because the hop from ER to ER and get all the drugs they want, plus a bunch of RX to boot.
  10. you can be a traveler with an adn out here. Easily.
  11. There are one or 2 NYC ERs that I will never ever work in again because I felt they were highly unsafe..the rest of them I felt were run very well.

I work ED in a very affluent area near San Francsico and talk about entitled. One woman became upset because there was not an intern available to run to the drugstore and fetch tylenol for her child. Really? Like, REALLY?!
  13. Again....in the better run ERs in NYC, pts are assigned by acuity and you are not slammed all at once. The sicker the pt, the less patients you get. Most NYC ERS do have a fast track . Also...the pts are triaged before you get them. I work in Cali now and in my current facility it is not uncommon to be slammed with 4 untriaged half dead pts at the same time. With no one to help you. So then all your orders come in at once, dispositions come in at once and then you are yelled at to " get rid" of your pts so you can get 4 new half dead pts. In NYC they are spaced out and turnover is slower so you actually have more time to take care of them and get all of your charting done. I never EVER focus on volume, I focus on acuity. And yes, pts can be mistriaged. That's why it is important to not only have a strong triage nurse but to go "eyeball" a new pt right away, no matter what the triage note says.
  14. Costa Rica does not seem to have a need for foreign nurses which SUCKS because I love it there!!!
  15. My husband and I fell in love with Costa Rica when we honeymooned there and actually considered moving. I did some research and found that Costa Rica does not routinely employ foreign nurses. Bummer
  16. and agencies used to offer car rental reimbursements but not anymore...
  17. You will get reimbursed for your license. I always did. Just remember...California nursing and NYC nursing are VERY VERY different. If you can work in NYC you can work anywhere. I personally prefer NYC nursing to Cali nursing but that's where I was trained so I am partial. But it can be rough and you have to be able to handle volume. There are no ratios like in Cali
  18. Have you ever worked in NYC? What is your specialty?
  19. Are you in NYC? IF not NYC and you NEED your car, then why not drive across country?
  20. OMG don't even bother renting a car. You really don't need one and parking is a huge pain in the butt. You are better off signing up for zip car. That way you only have a care when you need it and it's way cheaper!
  21. that's actual not bad for lpn
