  1. Excelsior College - excelsior.edu. You do set them up yourself. Check out the website for more info. It's a great program.
  2. About $8,000. You go at your own pace. Can be done in one year, can be done in 5. I am trying to get mine done by 18months :-)
  3. Yes! It is very possible! I am currently working in a clinic Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30. I get home a little bit after 5 each day. I have been during LPN to RN online with excelsior college as so far so good. I have about 6 months left (Hopefully) in the program. I started while working full time and I am still full time. Very possible, very doable. Then again, I don't have kids ...I still maintain a very busy lifestyle but I don't think my "busy" lifestyle right now is comparable to kids. Good luck!
  4. I am in Lima
  5. In my office the LPNs do the referrals. We don't have RNS just LPns and CMAs. It's also a small practice and we do things on "teams" a team is consist off an LPN, MA with a CNP or doctor.
  6. Got my credit card specifically for excelsior in this week! Yay!! Signing up for the first test: HEALTH SAFETY on Monday. Planning on taking the test June 30th. Any recommendations on studying for this test? Is 50 hours of studying/preparation enough? Because that's my plan 10-15 hours of studying for 4 weeks. I'll be getting on ebay this weekend to order study guide 101.
  7. I went out for vacation. Just got back today! !! Getting it done soon, money is what's keeping me from signing up darn it! Making the commitment to put life n vacation on hold for a bit n just get errr done!
  8. There are a few new job postings in the Lima area but at $15the an hour, prob wouldn't be worth it to move
  9. where are you from right nosh Havatars
  10. Keeping yalll updated ... they called last Friday for another interview. I wen in on Monday thinking I was done. Then a cal today for a THIRD interview with the hiring manager tomorrow! !! Mind you the last interview was w a hiring manager for nurses and HR hiring manager also! Lol. I feel like someone is playing a joke on me! Last interview was alot harder then the first
  11. Got my license "officially" jan 31/2012 and got my first job February...16th. Two weeks :/) before I got my license, I applied Everywhere!!! What a waste of time!!! I've updated my resume, got a new job yesterday n hopefully getting another job offer by the end of the week for full time somewhere else!!!! Needless to say, I could potentially be working three jobs by the end of the week. One FT 8-430 m-f, PT 5-9 and PRn every other weekend :-) I might be pulling my hair out mind you :-) but I LOvE making money and paying my bills. Ahhhhh, finally!!! :) Lon-rn transition might be pretty tough!
  12. Ohhh wow!!! That is too bad!!! Keep your head up!! Keep interviewing! Your resume obviouslty stick out of the many. A job will come your way soon enough :/)
  13. Waitressing all the way! find a PCA PRN position if possible. you'll make more PRN and work less. Waitressing makes was more then PCA
  14. Ohio LPN new grad $15.45 per hour prn no shift differential....second job part $15.00 per hour. Both nursing homes. Northwest Ohio. Seems farely low when I see other postings.
  15. Thank you for your reply!!! I am hoping to sign up for it Friday...figure study for one month per exam n get done by next June completely... Health safety does seem to be more common sense and all review. I'll def buy Lisa's CDs. I seen them on eBay! Let me know how Transition goes!! Sounds like I'm just a step behind you! Maybe we can keep each other motivated!:-)
  16. How was Health Safety? I just started studying for it today! I have not signed up yet...waiting on paycheck but thought I'd start...using my fundamentals n maternal child nursing book from school. Any other suggestions?
  17. One of my friends made a good point that the position was probably posted internally first and they wanted to see what the public had offered besides the people they knew already? Thought that made sense!!!
  18. One week ago, I went into a local clinic to apply for a joB..I asked for an application and they said they only accept applications from online. I gave the receptionist my resume anyways to turn into her supervisor for me. One hour later, I got a call and was asked if I had time To do an instant phone interview, yay!!! I did well with the interview and was told They might be calling me later on for a second interview..this was on a Thursday. That Monday, I received a call for a face to face interview. I had the option of coming in either Tuesday (which was the next day) or Friday. I chose Friday so I had more time to prepare...a 5 min presentation had to be given at the interview after researching their Website. And I also had to bring in Six professional references w me at the interview? Anyways, I went in yesterday, the interview went extremely well and I was way confident at the end that I got the job.after giving them a 30 seconds commercial as to why they should hire me. Table was flipped so I could be the one asking questions. I asked him to give ME a 30 second commercial as to why Hhe WOULDN'T hire me, which caught him wayyyy off guard!!!! He said he couldn't think of any reason why not!!! Yay!!! So we get done with interview, I'm all smiley, feeling great then he said "I have to be transParent with you" ...o...."when the position was posted, we WERE looking for an LpN, but that position recently got filled, so we no longer need one, I really like you so I will keep your information on file and asked that it be flagged when a position opens, we should be opening up a couple more clinics in the next few months, so we will call you for the next phase" ummmm....so I got the job, but didn't?!?!? Lol. I just don't understand why they would call me for an interview when they have nothing open! I didn't even know there was a position posted, it was more of a random act that I turned my resume in there. Kinda kicking myself someone got hired Tuesday...but they made it sound like they had multiple positions opened...like we can interview you Tuesday between 12-3 or Friday 12-3...I kinda figured WOWWW them Friday since that'll be the end of their interviewing and also be more prepared of course... I'm just a lil confused as to what I should do next w that company. I love their hours 8-430 mon-Friday. Pay is $1.25 less then what I make at my PRN job now but it's PERFECT for me. While I was doing my research for my presentation, I dd noticed there were no LPn positions listed under the job postings?..should I sit and wait until I see something and call or should I bother him once a week To remind him of me? Hahah . I mean I feel like I would be starting ASAP IF thrree were an open position.....the whole thing just seems kinda WEIRD to me... Hired but not hired?!? I think moral of the story, when asked to be interviews, go to the soonest one possible.
  19. They could be putting restrictions on your license.... Do you have anything on your record...even a speeding ticket in California could be the reason why it's taking awhile. Please keep us all posted
  20. Lpn in ohio. Graduated in August and just landed my first job. First Week on the job And am making $15.45 PRN. 0 expErience.. oHio.This forum is a lot more accurate then BLs.gov...
  21. Have you checked to see if you can take the LPn board? Just an idea, that might work!!! Good luhck!!! ThAtMset be be frustrating!
  22. Sounds like you have a lot going on as it is. This is coming from a 24 year old with no kids but planning on getting pregnant in about 18 months! lol. I say go back to school for nursing asap! after your second year, start trying to get pregnant and ta-da, by the time you graduate, you'll have a baby! You will only be holding off for maybe 2 years from now before getting pregnant. If you get accepted into clinicals right away since you have all of your pre-reqs done. It will only take you two years to get your ADN! so basically, you could start trying to get pregnant half-ways through nursing school. Believe me when I say I really want my first child, but I also know its smarter for me to get my RN first. I am an LPN who is currently enrolled through excelsior college for my RN. By the time I graduate and have my life a little bit more situated I'll be trying for a baby! Its really not that uncommon anymore for people to have their kids spread out and for people to be having kids in their 30s-40s. I would love it if I had a kid right now, but I know that if I wait, my kids and family wont suffer as much. and the way nursing is going right now, who knows what the job market might be like in 6 years. Today is the day to finish off what you started years ago! good luck with your decision! Let us know what you decide!!
  23. Pinkfluffybunny explained it well. After enrolling and sending in your transcripts, they will go through them and let you know which classes you will need to take besides the nursing tests. I just got my preliminary results last week or the week before and the only class I need is information literacy which I will be taking through Penn Foster (save me $200) then I'll take the two nursing tests before officially enrolling. Good luck! I'll be starting before the end of the month/beginning of March. So around rhe same time as you! Let me know how it's going for you!! Good luck!
  24. Thought I should let you know, as of 1/31/2012 I officially received a license number.. On the board website it says probation with restrictions. I got a job offer yesterday and accepted it. Tomorrow I go in for finger printing...pretty nervous about that!!!! I told the DON about my case a little bit n she seemed ok with it. Hope all goes well tmrw and I can start my job Monday! My license is under restriction for a minimum of one year.... There's a few continuing education classes I have to take and a couple other things. I was way stressed out about it all before but starting to eel a little relief. Im just happy I was able to get a job 15 days after having my license!!! Let's hope tomorrow goes well! Did you start school yet?!
