  1. Hey all! I've been a Med/Surg/Tele RN for the past 3 years, and have done 4 travel assignments in the last year. I am currently in Los Angeles and will be going to San Fran in a couple months. I was hoping to get some rates from other travelers for the San Fran area. I was quoted around $1700 take home pay with the living stipend included in that, per week. I love my recruiter and the company...but I have some serious student loan debt to take care of (like many of you I'm sure) and would like to make as much $ as possible for my contracts (obviously). If anyone has made more than that in the area please share...and share your company if you can. Thanks!
  2. No that is terrible pay...I am on assignment in Chicago and bring home $1200 weekly after taxes.
  3. I am a travel nurse on a contract in Chicago, this is my second assignment, I have almost 2 years experience in medsurg/tele, and I end up with about $1225 weekly after taxes. My housing stipend is also $2300 monthly.
  4. So, I absolutely love Chicago..I used to live there, but moved back to Michigan to complete a nursing program. I really want to move back to Chicago in January of 2013, but it doesn't seem that nurses are compensated that well in the city? I hope I'm wrong, and just have been getting negative feedback concerning the move. In order to be able to make ends meet, I would need to make at least $3000 take home pay (I have almost $90,000 in student loans from a previous Bachelor's degree) as a new grad. I'm also not very picky about where I start out (mostly because a new grad generally can't be too choosy). Is this possible, or should I just give up on Chicago and start looking elsewhere? I would really appreciate any feedback that anyone could give me. Thanks!
  5. I have found this site to be very helpful regarding salaries in different cities throughout the U.S. However, a lot of the threads are a little outdated regarding pay rates, so I was hoping to start a new one. I have noticed that some people get really bent out of shape when it comes to salary discussions, which then causes a lot of bickering, which then causes the thread to end. If you are one of these people, just ignore the post, it doesn't need a bunch of caddy "if you are only worried about the money, you shouldn't be a nurse!" posts. I'm sure I am not the only almost-nurse one who is single, no kids, and ready to move wherever the best opportunity is present. If you would be so helpful as to include: 1. City where you work 2. How many years working as an RN or LPN 3. Take home pay, or hourly pay It would be much appreciated!
  6. try looking on www.craigslist.com in your area under medical and health jobs....I see dozens in most areas all the time.
