  1. For license - RNs don't need a PCT license. The RN license works when entering the field. But RN's do need is 3 - 6 months of training/internship to get into the Dialysis Setting. Hope this helps :)
  2. Hi! Welcome to the forum. After reading your post, I see you are on the right track. Once you are done with the classes you can take up all your pre-quistes classes. Make sure you get all A's and B's in all your classes. As the point system and lottery system focus on Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, English & Math. The GPA of these classes will help you get in the nursing program. Also make sure you make a list of colleges that you want to apply, see their requirements and complete them before you apply to their programs. Its easy when you have all your requirement completed and apply to all the RN programs at once, so you don't have to apply at different semesters. Good luck! Keep the forum posted how the classes are going? IF you need help..you can surely PM me
  3. Hi! Welcome to the forum and also to the field of Nursing. As I was reading your options, I think the first important thing to do is to sit down and make a list of classes you need to take for the RN route. To be frank, most of the schools have a point system or lottery system. So basically make sure you get A's and B's in all your classes. Also, check with all the community colleges requirements. Once you have made the list of community colleges you wish to go for the RN program it will be easy to make that move. Don't just apply to 1 or 2 community college..instead apply to 6 - 8 colleges, even if they far away. You will have more options. Hope this helps. IF you already have a Bachelors degree in another field as the universities they have an option to apply for BSN. Most universities would have an option of a student having a Bachelors already and you could get in sooner. Good luck! Don't worry about the money part because once you are a Nurse..everything pays off. Most of the nurses earn $25.00 per hour..which would be a new nurse. Get your CNA license, and see if you can keep your current job. Most places for CNA position need to fill up for night shifts. If you can take that, it would be great!
  4. Hi! Will the classes from a different state transfer to Wake Tech?
  5. hey! Would to like to know how the program is at Annenberg school of nursing in reseda? I have been researching alot but I don't know which one to pick
  6. Hey! Just wanted to ask you how the AV Medical College is for the LVN program. Do they have part-time programs? and how is the schedule look like?
  7. Has anyone heard about the High Desert Medical College in Lancaster or Bakerfield ?Can anyone give me a feedback about them. I know there were earlier post about them but for now i need to know the cost of the program and how the passing rate is? Do they require Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology prequesties?
  8. Hey! Thanks alot. I m applying for all the RN schools around the area and see where I get in. Can't wait to be in the nursing program. Are doing the LVN/LPN program or RN program?
  9. Hey! I do have the TEAS ATI STUDY GUIDE. But the questions that I had got my science part were mostly on cell membranes, plant cell and animal cell. One or two questions on chemistry.
  10. Hi! Just wanted to ask you about the TEAS V. I had take mine and did not good on them. How did you study for the Science part?
  11. Hello everyone! How does this RN program work? Is this RN program part-time? Please could you give me some information. would love to work and go to school at the same time
  12. Hey! Thanks for all the information. Does LPN program need all the classes you mentioned? I already have my medical terminology class and nutrition is almost done. So for the LPN program do they need the TEAS V? As i m applying from California, i dont want to miss the application day. I m happy to hear they let you know by July. Over here the process takes about 6 months..and after a year and half they tell you if the student got in or not. I will checkout the website again, i m still confused on few things. If i have question, will post them, so alteast i m prepared before I apply next year :)
  13. Thanks alot for the information. Do you know where I get information on the classes needed before entering the program? Also do they have TEAS V as their entrance exam? When is the application drop of time ?and how long is the waiting time? Sorry was asking so many questions I just want to be prepared before applying.
  14. Thanks for all the information. My science classes will expire in 2013 as per California community colleges that I have applied too...as I m complete 5 years and I have to retake all of them again. But if in NC they have a 10 years, I should be fine. I will also apply for the LPN program just to be on the safer side.
  15. Hello! I have been looking to Wake Tech Community College, basically I m from California and I m applying Out-State as over in California the wait list is more than 2 -3 years. Plus my pre-quistes are expiring in 2013. Please could you tell me which program is better to apply Gaston College, Wake Tech or JCC? Or do they have the LPN program, I can go through that route too. Just want to keep options open.
  16. Over here in California, the waiting list is more than 2 - 3years. I have been on the list for about a year. But now i plan to apply to a different state if I m lucky I can get in. As my pre-quites are going to expire in 2013, I need to make a decision on what I want to do. Does Gaston College accept TEAS score for LPN program or just requirement of the classes?
  17. Hi everyone! Please could you tell me what are the requirements of the program? Also how does the point-system work? What is the highest number of points do you need to get in? and G.P.A?
  18. Hi! Please could you tell me which schools are good for ADN program in NC. As I m planning to apply Out-State. I m from California and I m done with my pre-quistes but they will be expiring soon.
  19. Hey! Please let me know what kind of information you need. Or you could just email me on [email protected]
  20. Hi! Good Luck with the LVN program. I would like to ask where exactly are doing your LVN program at? Before entering the program get familiar with medical terminology, which will help you through out your course. Hope this helps!
  21. Well, the program I went through also is a well know company which is a dialysis company. And For the fact, I got to cannulate patients, took BP, vitals, entired data in the system, also got one-one talk with nurses/nephorlogist, see how the nurses did the catheter as I m not a nurse, and I always wanted to how its like. There are few other places where these programs take place, but they are very expensive, but the place I went there It was worth every bit. They send recommendation letters and student resumes to different dialysis companies, so right now I m going to go in for interview soon for working as PCT, I just got certified. The program is not expensive at all. That all I can say. I had a really good experience, and the previous people who took the course have a really good feeback.
  22. NO they don't. They want experienced people before you start working them. I don't want to argue here, because I know how it is.
  23. Nope, dialysis companies want a person to be certified by the state in order to work in the company and they would also want the person to have a year experience , if not they won't have it. Let me know if company trains you to be tech, i would be happy to know about that information.
  24. Hi! I would like to know what kind of job are you looking for? I know job hunting is stressful. If you can get a job at local stores that would be great help. Also keep saving as much as you can.
  25. Well, for the program to become a dialysis tech was a big step. I want to become a dialysis RN one day, and this will give me hand on experience. If you know how the nursing schools are in southern california..you would know ...the waiting period to get into the nursing school you wish to go. So yeah, this will be a stepping stone to success. Not wasting my time and energy on something that I don't like doing. But something I will put on my heart and soul in it. So yeah, this career is the best choice. In this way, getting the exposure working in a dialysis center, will prepare me for the future and no knowledge would be wasted. There really some good dialysis tech schools out there, who help to become whom you want to be. Dont take me in the wrong way, but now the career path is set, and there is nothing to worry about.
