  1. Actually i am graduating in december. Need to get your application in now for 08.
  2. That is correct, GPA greater than 3.0 no GRE. Buffalo has it's plus and minuses like every program. Some schools have trouble getting minimum requirements in certain types of cases and this is not one of them. You definitely get your numbers. So overall yes I would recommend the school.
  3. Where do you live that you can't find jobs as a nurse?
  4. I think the more chemistry the better but I think you need, bio, organic and inorganic to be well rounded. Physics is definitely a plus as well.
  5. U of buffalo--Interviewed, selected, attending MHRI--Interviewed, selected, declined Bryan LGH--Turned down interview Georgia--Turned down interview Fransiscan skemp--Interviewed, declined
  6. I don't think GPA is the only factor. I think the total package is more important. I heard of a school who accepted a student with a 2.7 gpa even though they wanted a 3.0. He just happened to have the other things they were looking for.
  7. All of the schools I interviewed at were more concerned if I could critically think than "how much" experience I had with swans. In fact one school asked if our hospital still even used PA catheters. So I don't think it should hurt you much if any
  8. In most cases in utah and other states I have worked. Most of the docs prefer NP's because they have more than two years of medical background and have learned time managment and to deal with crisis. Either way you really can't go wrong but the NP does give you more freedom
  9. Actually I don't think its that uncommon for a women to request a male nurse. I have had a couple female patients they prefer male nurses because they are more patient and caring
  10. A year of med/surge would be valuable. However, working one year in a small ICU would be valuable and then you would have a head start into a big ICU in a year.
  11. By the time you get loans for housing, school (out of state tuition) you can plan on more than 160,000 dollars.
  12. I actually had several physicians both pulmonologists and MDA's encourage me to go to CRNA school versus medical school. One put it by the time he pays off his 400,000+ worth of student loans it really won't be worth it. He figures he will be 50 before he surpasses the income of coal miners and nurses who were working why he was trying to get through school.
  13. I too was accepted at the university of buffalo. See you all soon. Is anybody planning on taking a few of the classes early during the summer. Congratulations and good luck to the rest of you
  14. Thanks if you hear anything please let me know. I am looking forward to going to interview there I would just really like to know what to expect. Have you applied yet?
  15. If you happen to talk to them will you ask what kind of questions they ask. Would have sent this to you private email but I can't get it to work. Thanks. I have heard a lot of good things from that school. Daniel
  16. If you happen to talk to them will you ask what kind of questions they ask. Would have sent this to you private email but I can't get it to work. Thanks. I have heard a lot of good things from that school. Daniel
  17. Has anyone interviewed at Fransican Skemp school for nurse anesthesia or know what kind of questions they ask? Thanks. Good luck
  18. Has anyone interviewed at Fransican Skemp school for nurse anesthesia or know what kind of questions they ask? Thanks. Good luck
  19. I applied to 7. So far the only ones I have heard from are buffalo and rhode island. I have an interview at both. Do you have your CCRN? I have a friend who got into texas wesleyann with one year of experience and didn't have his CCRN. I am considering applying but I want to see how these two go first. I would really like to get into MHRI of buffalo I have heard a lot of positive things from both schools. What other schools did you apply to? I heard they usually interview about 60, I hope they don't interview everybody that applies. I am flying out tommorrow to see what it's like out there. Good luck, if I don't talk to you again before the interview.
  20. I will definitely let you know. Do you happen to know how many they are interviewing? I heard there are only 10 positions. I would really like to go there, I have heard a few really good things about that school. Good luck, hopefully we can both get in. Where else did you apply?
  21. I have an interview at MHRI school of nurse anesthesia on October 8th, does anyone know what the interview process is like? Also I have an interview in buffalo, any ideas on what there interviews are like. Thanks. Good luck to everyone else who is applying and has interviews.
  22. I got an interview to MHRI on October 8th and Buffalo on October 16th. Good luck everybody
  23. I would definitely let my kid ride a motorcycle, but of course I ride and have for about 15 years. I would highly recommend a training course though. I work in ICU and see a lot of motorcycle accidents but most come out pretty well if they are wearing the appropriate riding equipment.
  24. Thanks. Even though that is the minimum requirement I hope I can get in with these scores. It seems to be getting even more competitive.
  25. SMSU? Most of the schools I have talked with in the past say it's a whole package deal if your experience is good, grades and GRE's are decent you have a really good shot. Some schools only use GRE scores to as a way of eliminating some of the pool. Good luck. I applied to CAMC as well.
