  1. Yeah i studied all day!!!!! i took advantage of that day off. Took my test today! 94%
  2. Just remember that an A is an A. When I took my mirco class I got a 91 and had no problem getting in to the program. When your transcripts are sent over it only shows the letter grade, so you’re in the clear. My advice to you is pay extra attention in A&P II, this is the most important pre-req. Everything I learned in that class has helped me so much in my ABSN program.
  3. I would tell on them, in our program if you know that someone is cheating and you dont say anything and they get caught both of you get kicked from the program. The pervious class ABSN class kicked 15 people from the program and not everyone was cheating.
  4. I never got my CNA :) I asked it if would help my chances of getting into nursing school and the nursing advisor told me no.
  5. What thats way to much for a nursing degree! My ABSN for the entire program is only $16,000. If i was you i would wait and atted the ADN program then a RN-BSN program, becuz if you later decided that you do want to go to a CRNA program you'll be paying big bucks plus the loans youve already pulled out! In the end the choice is yours
  6. I freaked out, I was more scared than happy. My first thought was how i was going to pay for it. The only person i told for the first few days was my girlfriend. But deep down inside i was jumping up and down.
  7. Against the grain should be a way of life What's worth the price is always worth the fight Every second counts 'cause there's no second try So live like you're never living twice Don't take the free ride in your own life These are lyrics to Nickelback's today was your last day. For my program we had a meeting where we had to bring our support group, (spouse, parents, etc..) it was so they could understand that this was gonna be a difficult program and the wife or husband was gonna need to pick up the slack around the house (cleaning, washing, etc..). They also addressed that the support group can either make or break the student. Please don't give up! many people would die to be in your shoes. Try to make your husband understand the pros of you finishing school (more stable income, a new car, vacations) I bet if you make it through the program he'll understand why you did it.
  8. hey! i’m a second degree student too, working on my accelerated bsn. i’m doing everything on loans; i had to move back in with my parents so i wouldn't have to work. your best bet is to take you pre-reqs at a local community college to save money. and you don’t have to go for your bsn, how about an adn. i also got a scholarship from a local hospital in which they pay me 1000 a semester. they also have scholarship for full tuition if you agree to work 2 years at certain facilities like rehab centers or long term care.
  9. the teas is not that bad, if you buy the ati study guide you'll do fine. math is just mostly % problems, reading is reading, the science section is almost all general biology with is covered in the study guide. there was maybe 2 a&p questions, 2 physics questions (which i totally questioned on), 1 geology question, and a few chemistry questions. maybe you should go pick up a old biology text book from the library and read up on the material that you dont understand. i hardly studied the science section and got a 93 on it, and i hadn't seen general biology and general chemistry since my first degree. just make sure your ready becuz some schools have a limit on how many times you can take the teas (my school only allowed 2). if you canvisit a professor and ask for help. i went to a random chem teacher and asked if i could have some help on the chemistry section of the teas study guide, she agreed and gave me a crash course of the material. teachers like it when you ask for help, so don’t be afraid to ask. if you have any question you can ask me :)
  10. Congrats i did the same thing! except i had micro and A&PII along with a psych and a nutrition class. It was the best semster i've had. I love the thrill of the fast pace, plus since everything is so rushed you dont have time to forget any of the material. I think anyone can do it as long as you're motivated! Spite is a great source of motivation, let someone tell me i can't do and it makes me try even harder. :monkeydance: I know this is a old thread but i thought i'd just give my to anyone who is going to take a load like this, this summer good luck to you guys
  11. I start my ABSN program in June and we're scheduled to have 3 12hr shifts per week starting in july
  12. I kept my conditional acceptance letter :) I got in on the first try, to the only school i applied to. I have to some where in my backpack :monkeydance:
  13. I'll be done with my ABSN at age 24, I'm working on a second degree. I think I'm the youngest person in our 12 month, so I kinda feel outta place.
  14. Don't worry, I feel your pain. I'm a nursing student and I worked my butt off to get into nursing school, only to have people tell me I'm going to school to be a butt wiper. I just learned to ignore them, because it's useless to try and explain what nursing is all about.
  15. i finish in next may, but my plan is to send my parents on a well deserved vacation cruise. i owe it to them, because they let me move back in so i wouldn’t have to work while in nursing school. the next plan is to get an apartment for me, my girlfriend, and my dog!
  16. Pharm is such an easy class :) but it can be alot of info. We had a test every 2 weeks over 15 chapters. But the days of studying the day before a test are over. The key to getting an A is reading before class not after, but really read! Also if youR teacher gives objective do them before class, this helps understand what th heck the teacher is talking about. Also be sure to buy a nurse drug guide and a medicAl dictionary.
  17. I don't know what the admission policy for your university is but here's my story. I had always planned on getting my BSN, but i started out at a local Community College and work on all my liberal art class and Pre-reqs for nursing. And one day i was called into to be informed that i had enough credits for an AA. So i took it (but didnt walk :)) and just got my diploma. It worked out for the best becuz my university has a second degree Fast track BSN program ( in which you finish the actual nursing school in 1 year vs 2. I applied for the pre-nursing courses (patho, and Pharm) and got in, and a few weeks ago i got my conditional admission letter for the fast track BSN program. So if your school has an ABSN and allows students to apply with an AA, i say go for it. Im gonna finish my nursing degree 1 year earlier. :)
  18. A&P II in the summer is CAKE! got an 96%. If your going for your BSN i would suggest you take A&P1 summer 1 and Micro Sumer 2, and the A&P 2 in the fall. Reason being that for a second degree BSN you may have to take patho the semster your applying. And everything you learn in A&P 2 applies to patho and i mean almost everything. From kidney functions to body pH balances (alkalosis and acidosis). But A&Ps are awesome classes compare to mirco.
  19. Here is the Plan, most schools only look at your Sicence Grades and TEAS scores for ranking. I would suggest going to a local Community College and take all you pre-req there. The reason is they all transfer, and they are super easy! No reason for you to get anything below an A. Just make sure you keep a 4.0 in the pre-req courses and you should be ok. And having all A's should bring you up to at least a 2.5 overall GPA
  20. the teas v is cake! the actual test is 5xs easier, while the practice tests are much harder (i think they did that on purpose). i came out with an 83 :) and it got me into my bsn program. when i took the practice test almost have of my answers were wrong . but just stay calm and relax, if you need to write down every math problem go for, never do any math in ur head. sci is mostly general biology with very few anatomy questions (maybe like 3) i had 1 or 2 physics questions. math is mostly adding, subtracting, multiplying. lots of percentages (just know how to divide decimals). reading was just reading :). but english grammar sucked for me, as you can tell :)
  21. I know how you feel, i just got my letter of acceptance for a BSN program, :) and let me tell you its been a climb. You have to keep on trucking, sure i had a few times when i just wanted to give up and go a different route or maybe just fall back on an ADN but i glad i stuck it through. But just remember your getting your BSN!!!!!! I had to wait an extra semester because i finished my pre-req 1 semester before application time. But if its possible try taking a Pharmacology class at a local Community College, and it should transfer mine did.
  22. Hi, If i was you, i would take a tolal of 4 classes over the summer. Make sure you leave a slot open for Gen. Bio, because most school won't allow you to take A&P or micro unless you have Gen Bio. out of the way. Trust me that class is cake! Good luck! :) P.S. Make sure you Keep a 4.0 in all sci courses.
