  1. Bypasses are done on 90 year olds. They do well. This is getteing to be a routine surgery. Yes there are risks. Don't go by the numbers. If this is what is best for your father then believe in it and go from there. My father had a 4 vessel CABG and a ventricular graft at age 65, the doctor gave him a 50 - 50 to just come off the table; today at 72 he plays golf 3 times a week. I worked in CT stepdown, I sent people to surgery that by the book had no right to be alive and come away better than ever. The number are not everything. I wish your father the best.
  2. No, CNAs are not nurses. But I like them anyway.
  3. There are some who put others down simply to make themselves feel good. These people are the ones to watch out for. This is because they lack any form of confidence. They are also most prone to make big mistakes and blame others for their failures. This person should think twice before entering this profession. We eat our young.
  4. yes, I slept. They didn't wonder why.
  5. Hi folks, I'm from Erie County, NY. Near Buffalo. Country boy, golfer, huntsman, fisherman, RN and best friend to my wife Patti (who is also an RN).
  6. Call the MD and have the dopamine ready as well as a bag of IVF for a bolus. Your would have been right to follow your gut.
  7. No food where I work.
  8. No, child care is YOUR responsibility. Child care is not the responsibility of the hospitals or clinics......If you want child care, pay for it. I don't want it on my tax dollar or my hospital bill........do we not pay enough for hospital acquired infections, and safety is a major issue.
  9. Is it not bad enough that many of the doctors cannot speak or write English? You want me to have to deal with nurses in the same boat?
  10. In corrections this happens at random and with some frequency. This along with being pat frisked plus any bag you have being searched. I am sure you can deal with it, unless you are doing something you shouldn't.
  11. Ever try just saying "NO"? You don't work in a restraunt. The family is not your responsibility. The patient yes, if it near a mael time or a true diabetic.
  12. They will be even shorter if they fire you.........Let them think about it.
  13. It is very improper for you to ask anybody if anybody has a criminal record. It is none of your business. In all states the charge will tell you if you will ever be eligable to sit for the board exam. I can tell you this, if you have a felony conviction you can never be an RN/LPN. The best thing for you to do is contact your local state dept. of nursing. In the future please consider what it really is you are asking someone.
  14. I think you have a lot of nerve to even ask this question in this forum. What you are asking for is very personal and painful information. You should grow up and take this problem that you have to your priest (clergy), your partner, possibly your parents, your GYN and a good counselor. The information these important people have just may be able to help you sort it all out.
