Why is it ...
You could be right, people's strong opinions come off as hatred sometimes I guess. As a new grad I know the struggle first hand. I just don't see the need to single out a group because they are trying to make a better living for themselves...

Why is it ...
I can say I have seen it on this forum, it wasn't as harsh as the one forum I was on .. Nurse RN Jobs Forum - New Graduate Nurse - Page 28 | Indeed.com , and of course in a working situation people don't actually talk about it in public..it's always behind people's backs...its just a sad reality :/

Why is it ...
Okay, I was reading a few forums and I am really taken aback by how much anger there is in the nursing community, the best word would be, hate there is toward Filipino nurses. I am just wondering what other people's take on this is... I mean, so there are many people of a certain race in a profession, what is the big deal? This is a honest question, it really baffles me...just was wondering what others have to say...

Question about a student reporting RN mistakes
You really should have made the RN aware because basically what you did was go over the assigned nurses head to tattle...basically from what you are saying that if this same nurse observes you caring out a order or procedure incorrectly that she shouldn't bother to help you or guide you, she should just go straight to your instructor and tell her that you're not doing your job as a student correctly...

Foreign BSN vs. Calif. ASN + debt
There are many schools that allow "2nd courses" into their nursing programs, it just takes some research and knowing what city or even island you plan to study at, I would say avoid mindanao...Just look for schools in luzon and the visayas...cebu is a beautiful place and I would recommend to go there over manila's over populated city...good luck with whatever you chose!

Foreign BSN vs. Calif. ASN + debt
Many colleges in the Philippines do not take international classes so that would mean that even though you have taken pre-reqs they would make you re-take them. They are 4 years long including summers, so 3 summers...its basically year around with 2-3 week vacations in-between. You probably should find out which college you want to attend and what the requirements are. The Philippines is the only country in Asia where almost all ppl speak some english...And when you first start doing clinicals ur clinical instructor would let you work with a buddy until you can manage with the language barrier with patients.... Its probably the best country to go to if you want to go the international route for BSN.

Foreign BSN vs. Calif. ASN + debt
You're the only person that can really decide this, have you ever stayed in the Philippines for long periods of time? I mean I would say go for the BSN just because its more convenient and affordable. Plus when you do work in the US your money will be yours and not used to pay off loans forever...and you'll learn how to speak tagalog that's another plus..

Positive AFB Sputum but Negative PPD Mantoux Test? How is this possible
Right, usually what's done is if its a + AFB then a chest x-ray is really needed for confirmation...As others have already stated, the PPD test has many possibilities for being negative such as an improperly done ID injection.. just as a positive PPD does not always mean active TB it could just mean exposure to the mycobacterium..
-
Positive AFB Sputum but Negative PPD Mantoux Test? How is this possible
I think it is possible to have a positive AFB and negative PPD because many things can be a factor such as immunosuppresion and all that, the person most likely has active TB and needs a chest x-ray for confirmation..

Learn To Say It Correctly!!
I guess sometimes it's the english as a second language thing.. I guess sometimes when people speak more than one language, you just have to go with it...even when it's extremely annoying...

Long Beach City College has a pretty solid nursing program...however, it is quite impacted...

So Frustrated!
Ya, I guess I'll just have to get a job anywhere I can... its so frustrating I have over 2100 hours of clinical experience as a student nurse .. I feel like they place that 1 year experience as a qualification, however, some new grads actually can handle being hired into a unit without prior experience outside of the student realm... LTC is probably what I will do if I have too though...
-
So Frustrated!
I know that the job market at the moment is pretty bleak for new grads... and most hospitals want at least 1 year experience .. I just can't for the life of me figure out how anyone is suppose to get at least a year experience when no hospital is willing to hire new grads...
