Hello I will teaching my first clinical class starting in March. It is first semester students. Any tips, resources or information would be greatly appreciated.

I am having problems trying to register. All the links take me to a sign in page and I am not registered. Any help would be appreciated.

I am also in the beginning stages of studying for the GRE. I have downloaded free study guides. Do you like the book you bought?

11P-7A 56 patients with 1 nurse and 4 CNA's! And being in charge means to do staffing for the day shift which means taking the call offs and calling 20 people to try and replace them, while trying to pass meds for the 56 people!

Yes. We can communicate anyway that is good for you and email is just fine, we actually need to do it that way so I can attach the documents that I am actually doing. I can email my "learning agreement" that has every step I will be doing so you will be up to date with where I am at.

All you can do is give them the information and hope they chose a different facility next time. If you can visit her and ask questions I would regardless if they think Im obnoxious its your loved one.

I also became burned out in the acute care arena. I went back to LTC and love it. I am really busy, just as acute care, but the stress is lots less. Good luck in finding your place.

Most rules say to not wear them but I have seen many nurses with them and I barely notice them because they look like a speck of glitter. I would not wear them in clinical school situations but it should be ok for jobs so long as it is very tiny.

You can definitely make LTC your career. You can get certified in geriatrics as well. I love working the floors directly with the patients. I would never go into management, just not my thing. All I see there is tons and tons of never ending work and low pay. Its more enjoyable for me to know and work with the patients/residents!

The listed responsibilities for a mentor are: In case a perspective NUR/590 mentor asks, the mentor's responsibilities for NUR/590 are as follows: 1) Review and discuss learning objectives with the student. 2) Discuss with the student how the experience will be valuable to the student. 3) Assist with the planning and coordination of activities related to the agreed-upon learning objectives. 4) Support and encourage student accountability in achieving the learning objectives. 5) Strategize with the student regarding the availability of appropriate resources to help in the achievement of learning objectives. 6) Provide ongoing evaluation and feedback to the mentee related to the achievement of the learning objectives. My project is going to be an education session for staff in a LTC facility regarding Dementia/Alzheimer's disease. I am working on every specific thing I will do for this project. I can provide a rough draft of those if you are considering this. I am desparate at this point because my "for sure" contact is not getting back with me and I have 1 week to find one!

My contact is not getting back to me regarding my mentor and I have 1 week to find one. It's my understanding that I can continue classes but I would have to re take 590A when I have one. Is this right? This is so frustrating I want to do the work and I am not going to lie regarding who my mentor is to get through. I just want to actually do the work with a legit mentor! Grrrrrr!

Exactly how do you study? Alone in groups, reading, writing, etc. Maybe you need to add different techniques. I myself learned more by writing. Some learn more by listening so they taped lectures to listen to them later.

11P - 7A! I have also worked 7p - 7A and wouldnt change my hours for anything they work best for my family and my sanity!
