any nursing school that doesn't require a pharmacology class (AT LEAST one) is absurd. As an RN, much of your time will revolve around giving medications to people. It's a HUGE part of the job. In fact, I think there ought to be SEVERAL pharmacology classes throughout nursing school, and the degree of difficulty should be MUCH higher than what it typical is. This stuff should be 2nd nature to nursing students. None of this squeaking by stuff. Furthermore, any C grade in ANY class should be grounds for expulsion from the program entirely - NO REDOS. We are messing with people's lives here. Average shouldn't cut it. Whew - not sure where that tangent came from! :)

No. This "chart every detail because you'll need it when you go to court" is nonsense that is the result of being brainwashed, I'm afraid to say. Being VERY specific in your general, everyday nursing charting is actually bad and more than likely will be used AGAINST you in a court case. That aside, truth is, you'll probably never, ever go to court in your lifetime anyway. I see a lot of people use the "protect your license" reason to back up their statements. PATIENTS DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR LICENSE. THEY WANT MONEY. THEY WANT THE HOSPITALS MONEY, AND THE DOCTORS INSURANCE MONEY. That's all.

I would want my child(ren) to pick something that makes them happy. Although, I must admit, I would silently cringe if they decided to become nurses. It's a pretty crummy job to have now that I'm doing it (just my opinion, folks!).

Skirts to work as a nurse? Puh-leeze. Make sure to just throw away any and all advancement women have made away at the main entrance when you decide to walk into work in a skirt. Puh-leeze.

NO! GAH! HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING EVEN ASKING SUCH A QUESTION!? But really, 50K for an RN is dumb. The financial return isn't worth it. I paid about $2,500 total for my RN at the CC level. Do that. Who cares if you have to wait a few years. It's worth it financially.

I drive 20 miles. I work in and serve the GHETTO. I refuse to live anywhere near where I work. But hey, the pay is superior!

I wish we had a goodlooking break room. Our break room is the old janitor's closet. We have an old plastic table that is supported by 2 books, 5 plastics chairs, a fridge that rattles, and our microwave is on top of that because there is no room. The other night as I was eating my Lean Cuisine at 2AM, A cockroach ran across the floor. I see cockroaches run across the hall in patient care areas during my shift more times than not. Consider yourself lucky.
