  1. thank you!! i will definitely follow through with your recommendation.
  2. I feel the exact same way; follow your dream! I have taken a different path to NS. I started school over 20 years ago (pre-med)...didn't finish-met a girl, received a decent job offer, the rest is history! Finally, FINALLY I have gotten the opportunity to go back to school. I have just been accepted into an ADN program. I'm extremely excited and blessed to get this opportunity. I will not let anything stand in my way either!! Go for it! Good luck, Patrick
  3. I feel like putting pen to paper, or flashcard in this case, is the best way to ingrain the information into your long-term memory. I also found it beneficial to answer the course lecture objectives in a narrative manner. If I could explain the physiology of the anatomy in my own words, I felt I would have a firm grasp on the material on the exams. I hope this helpful...Good luck!!
  4. Wow! Great work! Congrats! I'm just starting NS this fall. I know it's a long, long road. I'm excited to start; however, I can believe I will be quite relieved & accomplished when I'm finished with NS. What is the best advice you can offer a soon to be student? Thank you! Again congrats, good luck on your NCLEX! Patrick
  5. What do you mean by 'boned with'? I'm a male as well; however, I do not understand your reference...please elaborate! ~P
  6. wow! what an awesome feeling! i will be starting ns this upcoming fall, so the finish line seems so-o far away! i'm 43 and finally retuned to college after 20 years as well. i know how much of a sacrifice ns will be (from what i read anyway lol). finishing your first year and knowing that you are on the home stretch must be a huge relief! good for you!!
  7. Wonderful news! Congrats!!
  8. I will wear a suit to my first interview for a RN position. I come from a business/sales background. A professional, clean and well dressed presentation is always the best option IMO. Good Luck
  9. I was in sales as well. I was laid off a couple of years ago. Instead of jumping back into the thankless, unrewarding sales field, I decided to follow my passion, nursing. I have finished my prereq's and was just accepted into an ADN program. I'm super excited about taking the next step to becoming a RN (I hope to follow up with my BSN degree immediatley after graduating the ADN program). I was also the 'bread-winner' in my family. So, getting laid off and following my nursing dream was initially very difficult. While I was receiving my unemployment insurance, my girlfriend and I decided to start a daycare with our savings (luckily she had a large network in the childcare field already established). We have had our ups and downs with the daycare business; however, we manged to keep our heads above water. I'm not sure if this an option for you, but I thought I would share. Good luck!
  10. I think a well-groomed goatee will be 'smiled upon'! Clean shaven or not, good luck with entrance interview with the DOT!
  11. Very well stated Moogie! I start school this fall and I hope to have instructors like you and Edrnbsn. Thank you for your wisdom and insights! I would also like to the thank all the contributors to this thread. Through your comments and thoughts I have definitely learned a lot. I can't wait for school to start this fall. I hope to become a patient first, business first, engaging, respectful and helpful NS! ~P
  12. Got it, Thank you! ~P
  13. n Hey 'xptp29a'! I also got accepted into the 2010 fall NHCC day program. I received an 'A' in Micro, 'B' in A&P II, and an 'A' in A&P I. My accumulative GPA was something like 3.7 or so. Before getting accepted, I was curious what the criteria was as well. Wishing you all the luck in the world!
  14. Me too! It is a decent strategy. I also find that the other 'easier' questions may reveal some insight into the more difficult questions. Good luck
  15. Looks like you need an accumalative of 83% (82.85) on your remaining tests. That is totally doable! You got this!! Study hard, be prepared and go own these last two tests!:dncgbby: Good Luck!!
  16. lNot only would an interest inventory be helpful, you may want to consider what your learning style(s) is/ are. I have provided a link that you may find helpful. If this site isn't for you, just type 'what is my learning style?' into Google. http://www.ldpride.net/learning-style-test.html Good luck
  17. I just got accepted to nursing school. I worked my 'butt' off to get there and never ever plan on looking back! I feel absolutely honored and blessed!! I take my upcoming resposibility as a privilege. My plan is to take this OPPORTUNITY very seriously. I will arrive early and stay late! I worry about grades (like everyone else), but I most worry about providing exceptional, competent, caring and professional care to all my patients. I love nursing with every bone in my body and feel it's in my soul! So, I guess what I'm sayin', if it's not in your heart and soul, nursing may not be your destined profession IMHO.
  18. I'm starting of with the 2 year and will eventually transfer to obtain my BSN
  19. Thank you!
  20. Looks like you are in no matter what...Congrats! Good luck, I hope you get into your 1st choice as well!
