  1. Sorry. I didn't mean to make a big deal. I just thought it would have been ok to get them early. Well for anyone who reads this message please disregard it.
  2. Hi. I am a student in CT looking to do the LPN to RN program for excelsior. I have one more semester in the LPN program to complete it. Since I am not enrolled in the program by excelsior yet since I need to get my license first, I was wondering can someone send me the study guides for each of the exams, cause I want to start studying the material now while I am still in the LPN program. The only two courses I am able to complete right now and take the exams for and not have the LPN license for is the essentials of nursing care: health safety and the transition to the registered professional nurse role. I want the study guides for the rest of them so I could start studying for the exams, so when I graduate in June I can just be ready to knock down these exams. Someone please help me. I am also looking for the college network books that correspond with these courses. I was thinking about doing college network, but they are freakin expensive, and excelsior is an accredited college whereas from what I am reading on the excelsior site they are not even affiliated with any of these test preparation services, so I am not trusting the college network right now. They are trying to make me pay $525 dollar for each of their books and that is a hell of a lot of money when I know I could find their materials cheaper from someone else or just posting it here online.
  3. I am in nursing school right now and I feel like I have to vent. I started in Fall of 2008. Everything was nice when we started, I thought everything was going to be OK. Almost being halfway through the program, I never believed how much craziness can happen. Are any of you students the only male in the class with 27 students and 4 female teachers. It is crazy. I think 2 of the teachers especially are crazy and 2 of them are somewhat sane. One I swear she is bipolar and has always picked on me for stupid things since the 1st day of school. Another one who I always think she is in a stupor. There is so much drama and negativity in the classroom. There have been many changes made to the curriculum. First semester we had a lot of direction with the teaching and we had lecture most of the time. Now here is second semester. There has been little direction in teaching from the instructors because of the new administrator of all of the programs who implemented a new self teaching rule and a new rule for more group work than lecturing. I thought it would be good for me, but it isn't. I feel like I want to quit because I feel like my teachers put me down because I am the only male in the class, and they always tell me they want me to succeed, but I think that they just want me to fail. I don't know what to do. I have busted my butt doing all this work and I don't want to stop, but these teachers put me into such a depression and anxiety that I had to go to the ER because of there being too much stress on my heart. There is only one teacher that she feels that when something comes out of her mouth, it makes it sounds like she rather me be out of school than to be there. There is two teachers that I feel comfortable with right now, and who have gotten me this far and I have trust in them. I just had to vent if anyone want to read.
  4. I got into an LPN school in september of 08 and i am halfway through the program. I graduate in January 2010. I am having such a hard time with maternal newborn class. It just doesn't interest me at all and I need a way to study or get through that class. I don't know if there are any other males on this forum who hate OB as much as I do. It is not my cup of tea, I want to get a geriatric or med-surg nurse. If any of you could give me some study tips or something please help me. I failed one test on OB because I don't really understand it. I have 2 tests to go to bring up my average. The average we have to be at to pass is 75%. I love medical surgical nursing. That is why i want to be a nursing home nurse. Also is there any other males who were CNA's before becoming LPNs or RNs that had a problem with role change. If anyone does, if you have any tips on that, please help me with that, I am also having a hard time with that because I am still working as a CNA.
