  1. Just an idea from the Male side, the whole lying to him and going out to study, probably not the best play. If he finds out you're lying he's gonna be miffed, even if it is innocent. And lord help you if it's a guy that's been cheated on. Just be straight up with him. "I have to study, and I can't concentrate here I'll be at the library. Don't call me unless it's an emergency and someone is bleeding." And make sure he knows if no one's bleeding they will be when you get home. Seriously though, we're simple, and pretty reasonable for the most part.
  2. I'd probably go with the bike. Is there anywhere you could store it in winter? My buddy used to pop his tires off and stick it behind the couch. Might help.
  3. The traditional program is 5 semesters after acceptance into upper level. How long the pre-req's take is more up to you unless you're at NAU as a pre-nursing student. Best bet would be to start a new thread, and contact a nau nursing advisor.
  4. I completely agree. Alot of you seem pretty hard on your husbands, I'm sure they'd be thrilled to hear what you really think of them. Having my daughter was a mutual decision, and I'm assuming it was that way for you as well. I'm not trying to play devil's advocate, but it's our decision to go to nursing school and that doesn't relieve us of our marital or parental duties. I just spent the last 3 years working 50 hours a week from 10pm-10am, and staying up 24hrs+ 2-3 times a week so that my wife could go to P.A. School, and I could help with my daughter. My wife and I got to see each other roughly 2 days a week unless one of us took time off. Try looking at it from his side, if he's the only one working, he's paying for you're school, he's probably not feeling very appreciated. And, it's only been a week, talk to him and give him a chance to get used to it. At the same time though, when the time comes...heck yeah tell him to get off his butt and handle it, it's a 50/50 relationship you both have to pull your weight. Just my I've had to watch two couples divorce over this kind of situation over the past couple of years. (obviously worse case scenario, and not saying you're anywhere near this)
  5. nevermind
  6. you don't have to clear the dividend, just the devisor. Move the decimal one place 2417.3 divided by 93
  7. I wouldn't leave the field entirely because of one place, I had a friend that swore by a two year rule, every 2 years he moved areas, regardless of whether he liked the area or not. That was in an engineering field, but I think it could be applied.
  8. If you don't want to hear someone's gripe, opening a thread with "vent" in the title is probably not the best play.
  9. If you have a .edu address you can get amazon prime for free and get free 2 day shipping and I believe next day is like 3.99 or something crazy like that.
  10. I spent 6 years in the Navy, FC, Aegis Type. Headed to school this fall to finish my last 2 years. Hoping to have a couple of vets in my class, we'll see
  11. I dunno man, I think I might have to lean toward U of A on that one. I've heard really great things about their program, and it wouldn't be quite as distance based as the NAU one might be. Congrats either way
  12. If they ask you to disclose, and you don't, how is that not being dishonest? But, if you don't and they run a UA you're done anyways.
  13. Yeah my only problem is that I had to look everything up by the title/edition/author, as when you go to the NAU bookstore online(i'm still currently out of town), they don't have the isbn. I'm pretty sure this is solely to make it harder to buy your books elsewhere, which is a pain. So I'm not opening any of mine til I can stop by the bookstore next week and collect all the isbn's that I need. Still worth the $88 I saved though to buy online.
  14. OUCH!! Just ordered my books for first semester (junior year). Came out to $661, saves $88 by getting them through amazon, and that was buying them new at amazon vs used at bookstore. Bonus was that if you have an .edu email address you can get a free year of amazon prime, and get free 2 day shipping. So what did everyone else pay.
  15. Under the nose on the upper lip there's a really nasty pressure point we used to teach people to use when restraining people during CQB training. Works really well. I had a 5'2" female use it to restrain a 6'6" male, she had him bent over and following her like a puppy, it was great. On the ambulance I got blasted in the nose by an elderly male ( dementia) while trying to transfer him from his bed to the stretcher. So then I'm stuck trying to keep him from falling and trying to not bleed on him at the same time. He didn't know what he was doing though, so no harm no foul. Then the 6yo that bit me, but she said it wasn't her fault because she said she was going to, and I didn't stop her.....kinda hard to argue with the logic. lol
  16. I'm 29 now, and starting this fall. Someone asked the other day why I was starting "so late", Told them I took a wrong turn and ended up in the Persian gulf. .
  17. Anyone starting this fall know their policy on laptops? I had planned on getting a new one as we need a new computer in the house anyways, and was planning on a macbook. I haven't read anywhere that they're required, so I wouldn't think it would matter what kind I get, but just curious if anyone else has looked into this. Also who all is going to be in flag this fall?
  18. 08/14/2009 08:04:26AM But I already found out I got into NAU for this fall, so i'll be dropping off the list. It's worth it if you're just applying to keep working on pre-reqs for one of the BSN programs, and applying to them as well. You hit a point where you'll have enough credits to do 2 years at mcc and get your associates, or 2 years at a NAU/ASU/UofA and come out with a BSN

I took it online at RIO and was REALLY disappointed in it. It didn't seem necessarily harder than my other classes, but I did put alot of time into it, but the course just wasn't set up well. I found a great deal of things in the lesson that didn't match the textbook, and had difficulty with the instructor, because she didn't actually write the exams so she had trouble sometimes explaining why I got something wrong. Also there were a number of questions I reported to her in the practice exams that were blatantly wrong (hopefully they're fixed now). But I would definitely go the in class route, it was bad enough that I refuse to take any more rio science classes.
  20. I found a search on engine on the american heart association site that listed classes in the area.
  21. I'm starting school this fall as well, and for me personally I would feel more comfortable having a female with me when performing an intimate female procedure, just for the whole coa thing. Unfortunately there are things in the world that you just have to be accused of, even if you're not guilty, the accusation alone is hard to get rid of. (or at least it seemed that way in the service)
  22. Teddy, I'm in Chandler so let me know if you need help with anything. Try the fire depts, they sometimes privide cpr for health care provider classes. Also if you've had your vaccinations, you can just get titers (spelling?) to test for the antibodies. Oh and Congrats! See you there.
  23. Yeah I got a full package, it has a congratulations letter, acceptance contract, checklist for things I need to get done (vaccs, cpr, etc), paperwork for fingerprint clearance card, and a physical form. Thanks, I hope to be hearing about some more acceptances on the boards here soon!
