NCLEX-PN Harder or easier than you thought?
Definately much harder than I anticipated. I took the test today. I had lots of prioritization and SATA's. checked the pearsonvue trick and got the good popup but now I have to wait for the results.

New LPN shoutin' out - any others want to rejoice?
Hey I am 48 too. Just got home from my 2nd day on the job working with a practice of surgeons. There is alot to learn that they really don't prepare you for in school. I wish LPN students got to have some clinicals in doctors offices along with the hospital and nursing home.

NCLEX-PN experience
thanks for some excellent pointers. I am scheduled to take the exam on Sept 8. So far I have been using my saunders 4th ed (reading the chapters then doing the questions on the cd) I think I will check out the exam cram.

Just scheduled my first interview for lpn job on ortho floor.
thank you. Most new grads here get LTC jobs. The hospitals hire very few LPN's. The doctor's offices usually have LPN's but the turner over is very slow. I just happened to have an "in" with the surgeon's office and one of their nurses is going to be retiring within the next year after 17 years.

New LPN shoutin' out - any others want to rejoice?
I graduated on Aug 8 and I am scheduled to take my nclex on Sept 8. I start my first LPN job on Aug 30 and in order to keep the job I have to pass the nclex. Can we say stressed. There is so much to go over from the past year I did great on the exit HESI but I have this fear that all the knowledge is going to leak out and I won't pass. I am glad that this torture will be over on the 8th. Congratulations on passing and good luck in finding a job if you haven't already gotten one.

Just scheduled my first interview for lpn job on ortho floor.
Unfortunately I did not get the position. It sounded really cool. The nurse who interviewed me said that they do team nursing. There is one RN, one LPN and One CNA in charge of 7 patients on the day shift and 10 patients on the night shift. The team is in charge of the total care of the patient. I did interview the next week for an office job as an lpn for a surgery practice and I got that job. I start on the 30th. Good luck finding the job you really want.:)

Jobhunting--any tips?
A thank you letter for an interview can never be wrong, it shows you have manners and it gets your name in front of them one more time. I am also looking for my first job and we were told to dress nice but a suit was not necessary. Wear your hair, makeup and jewelry as if you are going to work. If you see a job you want to apply for why not bypass the computer application and walk into HR and turn in a resume with cover letter. They may ask you to fill out a paper or computer application but again they have now seen you and had an additional contact. If I am passed over for hire I plan on writing another thank you letter and requesting advice on what I can do to make my self hireable the next time a position comes open (that shows you really are interested in working there) Good luck

Just scheduled my first interview for lpn job on ortho floor.
I am really excited I just got a call from the local hospital asking to schedule an interview for the prn orthopedic floor lpn position (I go next monday). Can anyone give me any ideas about what to expect during the interview? Is there anything I should review before the interview? I have a general idea of what the ortho floor will be like but all my clinicals were on med-surg, how different is it going to be? Any wisdom will be appreciated.

Calhoun Community College Full Time & Work
I am just finishing up the LPN program at Calhoun. The first 2 semesters the LPN's and ADN's are together so I can tell you how it will be. The first semester you have class 2 days a week 8-2 and clinicals 1 day 8-1, if you want to make A's and B's you need to study 3-4 hours a day (the reading for lecture takes a lot of time). Plan on starting to study for tests at least a week ahead. There were a few people who worked full time but most were not A-B students. If at all possible work only part time. 2nd semester is even harder, school is 3 days a week 8-2 and clinicals 1 day 8-5. The material is harder and a lot of study is required. If you make it to 3rd semester then life is good. Good luck
