Hello everyone, I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I started nursing school last august. I am scheduled to graduate in May. I've been having Back pain since january. It only hurt when I would sit down. However, it got worse and worse. It got so bad I couldnt even sit through class without being in pain. I would do all my studying laying down. Well over the summer the pain got worse it traveled into my buttock. I am not one of those people who have a low tolerance to pain. I did karate for 9 yrs so its not me to whine easy from pain. Anyhow over the summer the pain got worse even with medication I can comfortably even eat dinner at the table. The dr said I have sacroillitis. I was also told that my pelvis is rotated anterior and thats the whole problem. So I started physical therapy. Question is should i take this semester off and get back on track physically. It would only set me back 3 months. I just feel like i havent even had a mental break cause i was in a lot of pain this summer. I couldnt relax. I just dont know. Nursing school is stressful enough without having this problem

Dont work with adults than be a peds nurse. I dont want to take care of seniors either. just suck it up for school. when your talking about nursing MONEY should not be a reason to go to school to be a nurse. It should be the desire to help people fyi. Nursing school is serious and hard but if you honestly want to be a nurse you will make it through and become a wonderful nurse. If it wasnt meant to be you'll find out when your in the program. either by failing or just from all the clinicals we do. you will never know until you try. I will be done in May and I hate all the hours I put into nursing school and who it ruins my life but you know what I LOVE nursing and cause of that it makes it all ok

Honestly that I would of had more fun and apperciated my spare time cause nursing school is your life and thats one of the hardest adjustments.

well your not going to use lac ringer if your doing a blood transfusion cause it will clump (agglunate) however you spell that lol. NS is a safer fluid. you also flush with that. lac ringer has carbs in it so it will bring your sugar up.

most people do not realize what it really takes to be a nurse. you wont understand until you are in nursing school. RNs are undervalued by lay people but its just cause they dont get it. tell your friend to come to my school and take one of our test. he will see not only do you have to be intelligent but you have to be a good critical thinker. Nursing school is nothing like what people expect it to be

I think you should stick it out. you are half way there. I think if you really honestly want to become a NP then you will stick by it. Nursing is not a giving up you gotta power through this part of your life. do you honestly want to give up and then end up kicking yourself years down the road. Especially not to get married, honestly I think in the future you might resent it. if this is the person you are going to spend your WHOLE life with I would think he would be willing to wait. Part of being in a relationship is being there for the other person and understanding what the other person wants to achieve in life and standing besides that person and helping them. I'm sure you would do the same. So Go for it, you can pay back the money over time but you can never turn back the hands of time and change the fact that you gave up on your dream.

so to sum it up i like whats it done for me just wish it didnt consume my life

mine is a living hell and my classmates will agree. but they toughen you up cause for god sakes your going to be trusted with peoples life. no pain no glory. it takes over your entire life. at the same time you feel a great sense of accomplishment. eventually nursing school will end and you'll be a RN. i think it really depends on the nursing school you go to. thats just my school. and you know what our board passing rate for the first time is 99%. all of the hospitals love our graduating RNs and we are known as the best. I've had the nursing etc at the hospitals tell us that. Think about it if nursing school is a walk in the park how good of a job are they honestly preparing you. Before nursing school I used to get 100% on my prereq finals not all the times but it has happen. I did get straight A's through prereqs though. Now I make B's. But its worth it!

your a student not a nurse give yourself a break. we are learning. if you were perfect you wouldnt be a brand new student or a student right.

We do 2 lectures a week each are 3 hours and a piece and one 12 hour clinical day. we take 2 courses a semester. the first week your in school more than that but after the first week its what i wrote above. every school is different. if you are that concerned i would find out your nclex passing rate of your school. Our is 99% and we are in the top ten best nursing schools in florida. actually were number 2

Sometimes Im a little worried but my plan is to do a bridge program and get my masters. and yes im aware of the fact that alot of them do want BSN and will not make an exceptions. however some of them will just add on a couple of classes to your bridge program. I have a BBA (Management). If i really wanna an NP etc I will find a school that will accept my degree etc even if i have to move out of state.

depend mostly 6-8 hours a day. nothing on clinical day. sometimes i will take a sat and just study 4 hours.

go the extra year and become an RN. more room for growth and a lot more pay and respect

My advice is this.... deep down inside you know that you did your best and that you do know something. remember its not like our prereqs when we can recall word for word what we learned. If you walk in the room saying I did my best now bring it on. i honestly thing you will do better that way. Do your best, think you are smart and whatever you do dont think about the exam as something that has a big meaning to it. of course it does. but i always pretend its for me and to find out what i know and i found it helps my anxiety. you ARE ready for this test tomorrow. you will be fine. :) let us know how it went. good luck. not that you even need that

Risk for fall r/t current living situation as evidence by poorly organized household items. I would work off something like that. than list all the stuff wrong that you assessed in his house under the assessment section of your care plan. oh and put the fact that he already has fallen and showed you bruises. why dont you give us a little rough draft and we can see if we can help you out. thats nice of them to give you a case study. in my school even in the beginning it was you do it off your own patient at the hospital not off a case study

from what my dean told me they look at your prereqs as far as your gpa not your nursing school gpa. but yours pretty good im sure you will get in.

a.a in nursing? you mean you just finished an ADN program at a community college right. did you take the nclex and get your license. im assuming you want a bsn right. cause you need to get licensed as an RN then apply for the RN-BSN programs. your post is kind of confusing

Also depends on the school you are attending. some schools are tougher than other. there is no way that would fly in my school. i so wish it would. i heard bsn programs are easier than adn programs. 99.9% of nursing students do not have a routine like yours. We have to work hard. my theory is the harder the program the easier the nclex. our passing rate is 99.9% on the first try. best of luck to you but thats not a true reflection of a nursing students life for people who have no idea about nursing school

you know at this point i say go the extra year and become an RN it will open so many more doors for you. i dont know where lpns work but if you wanna work in certain areas maybe you should become an RN. you've suffered this much lol whats one more year in my opinion RN is better in everyway. financially, responsbility, rewarding, and the possibilities are endless for you. maybe one day when you get older you may wanna just put your feet up and not be a floor nurse. you cant do any of those positions as an LPN but you can as an RN. Go for the extra school in the end you will not regret it

Advanced practicing nurses like Nurse Practitioner, crna you need to have a masters. they are ALL master degree programs. Bachelors (BSN) is still just reg RN. And you MUST be an RN to become a NP, FP, CRNA. you in no way can do this as an LPN. LPNs and RNs are different. if you wish to do advance pracitcing nursing and are a LPN youll have to do a bridge program and become an RN but you must be an RN to become an advanced practicing nurse . I am a nursing student (RN) and im interested in becoming an advance practicing nurse. they also teach you all this stuff in nursing school

CNA are not nurses. neither are med assistance. they are nothing like nurses. i know its petty but its kinda an insult lol. everyone has there own set of skills to contribute. but after all the hard work you put in as an rn to be grouped up with a cna is like come on. But to answer your question there are two types of basic nurses RN or LPN (which is the same as LVN just depends on your state) If you wish to specialize you must be an RN and then go back to school. you can specialize in tons of different areas. like family practice, CRNA. or you can decide not to go back to school if you are an rn and take a certificate test to become specialized say in ped nursing, med/surg nursing.

Silly but yes I do. I'm in RN school and not to sound like a snob but i dont like it when people call medical assistants, cna etc nurses. there not. I think in general society doesnt realize what RNs do. not to put down med assistants and cnas but we all have our job and we deserve recognitions and respect for it. calling a cna a nurse is like calling a flight attendent a pilot lol

those are the people who dont make it past the first exam in nursing school so dont worry. also hate to break it to you but compared to nursing school A&P is a joke lol

well they are similar. there symptoms etc are the same. Easy way of thinking of it is nephrotic syndrome is exactly that is caused by many different disease where the glomerulus is now going to let protein filter through. Glomerulonephritis is the actually condition. but the same thing happends the filteration rate decreases and protein amounts others larger molecules are let through. Therefore ALL the same symptoms happen again. i dunno this is the way i finally got it. ones a actually disease and the other is the conditions caused by many diseases that decrease filteration and let large things through. same symptoms I dunno maybe. that what helped for me sometimes you gotta see how your brain works and what works for u
