Santa Rosa Junior College Fall 2018 ADN Program
I was accepted into Spring then emailed Donna that I would like to move up to Fall if a seat became available. I just got notified that I can move up, so I am in Fall! Which likely means theres another seat opened up in Spring!

Would an NCLEX RN study guide be useful for nursing school?
Do you all think ts important to buy the latest edition for any of these study guides you mention or go cheap and get an older version on eBay?

Best Nursing Shoes/Sneakers
I'm really interested in trying these. I have the classic Dansko that I wear at my current job that involves a lot of standing and I'm always surprised how happy my feet are at the end of the day despite the hard sole. I've had them for 5 years and they were the only thing I could wear during two pregnancies. However I do tend to roll my ankle in the Danskos. It looks like this new style has a shorter heel. I think they may be my shoe!

Clinicals and breastfeeding.
It always grosses me out to think of pumping or breastfeeding in the bathroom. I can't even imagine how nasty that would be. I sure hope you can find a suitable spot to pump, they had better accomadatem you! Good luck and congrats on the baby and school. Thankfully my baby will be weaned ling before I start NS.

extra classes
I'm going to take medical terminology this semester and I think it'll be helpful even though I don't need it for my degree. You could also consider a math med course.

How is there a shortage?
I'm curious about the time frame for short and long-term? When do you think things will change? 5 years? 10? More or less?

So which semester is the hardest???
People seems to really line Saunders the best. Which particular Saunders did you find helpful? From the sound of things med/surg is the hardest semester. I've been curious too, thanks for asking :)

Why do you want to be "JUST" a nurse?
Since I haven't started nursing school yet I dont know how anyone would believe me if I said it was my passion. Though I do feel that it is and really will be once I actually start I can't say from experience only from an idea of what I think nursing will be...

Tips for getting organized?
I wonder why they call that a backpack?! It's really just a small suitcase :)

Why do you want to be "JUST" a nurse?
I am so excited about becoming a nurse (I'm on the waitlist and will start Fall 2012). I really feeling like this is the career path that will fit me and that it is such an amazing and honorable job. I have a friend who is in the healthcare field that several times questioned my decision to go to NS telling me that I'm smart enough to be a Dr. etc. He kept prodding and asking "why?" i wanted to become a nurse. For a while I just explained my desire to become a nurse but didn't get Ito it any more because he was really being kind about it an actually complimenting my intelligence. But at the same time he was questioning me he was also insulting the nursing profession. Eventually, I explained again why I wanted to become a nurse that I didn't want to be a Dr (both my age and interest being limiting factors) and I finally told him how insulting he was being. This decision has been made, I am thrilled about it and I'm not changing my mind. I hope he and others don't lose respect for me because I want to be "just" a nurse. Thankfully the most important persons opinion, my husband, is wholeheartedly behind me! I wonder how the rest of you deal with these attitudes and what do you say to the "just" a nurse question?
