babylady. I did witness cheating. Other students have witnessed cheating. All through the program. our school does not let us see tests from the year prior. I did get the 35 pages of all of the homework and a copy of the test on the last day of school. Who are you to say that after everything I do not want to be in college? Seriously, drop out of college and NEVER get a job. Sounds like I struck a nerve with you. I get good grades in school. I am a non traditional student with a family. I do not say things because of rumors. I have a double major. It is an unfair advantage of those students thats all. Because they had exact copies of the tests then... it's not up to me. That is what this site is for to get other opions, before someone does something they may later regret. This site is not a place to pass judgement on others and make rude personal remarks about someone (such as myself) that you don't know anything about. I appreciate all the comments this far. I have not read them all, but I will. I have a daughter graduating from college with honors tomorrow so ... party time for her. Trying to make things perfect!

first of I would like to say that I love allnurses.com. This community is very supportive and I am glad to be a part of it. My situation is I am a junior in the nursing program. Suppose to be a senior next year. I am not going back. I knew people were cheating in one of the classes. I hear the students talking about it. I mentioned to the director that some students had an unfair advantage because they were getting information from the upper class. One would think she would check e mails some how. I am sure she would see the info being passed. Then when I got home the other day I found a test and 33 pages of all the material we did in community this semester and a copy of one of the tests that we took. Our final is Wed. 5 / 12 / 11 at noon. I can't even bring myself to study for the final because I am so upset. Should I bring this to the schools attention? Should I give them the test and the homework for the year. Should I bother taking the exam. I already dropped my nursing for next semester and am finishing my four psych classes. I am so.... with the program. My school is also upset because they had a 70% pass rate and are in danger of losing their creditation. Well I know why. I watched people cheat all through the program. If I can see it then why do teachers turn a blind eye? They say they do not permit cheating and yet they never do anything about it when people get caught doing it. more so why does it bother me so much? Maybe I should just let it go and not say a word. I have had enough. apparently I am not smart enough to cheat. As always thanks for listening. It is ten minutes until three. I should try and get some sleep. catz123

thank you all for your comments. I had to withdraw once already because work would not comply with my school schedule. I would need to get all in the 80's a 90 would be nice. I am trying to study my butt off. I only have until wed. to figure this out.

I am 43 years old. I have a family and a part time job. I am am in the pedi, maternity protion of the program. A junior. I had to leave the program last year because of work. I passed med surg and now my average is a 69, we need a 77 to pass. I got a 78 on my first exam and a 60 on my second. I have never gotten a grade this low. Now I have to do extremely well to pass. I could drop out and go back next year. I have until Wed. with no academic penelties, but in a way I don't want to. I want to just pass through the program. I am confused. My youngest says, "Mom, that means you would be a junior for three years"! "You have been going to school most of my life, just graduate already". Plus, gas is going out of sight and tuition climbs every year. Money wise, I don't know how much longer I can do this. I have hit the books. Any thoughts? I would be very interested if there were any.

In the nursing program that I am in it is required that you take spanish for the health care professonal. This also included those that have taken spanish and my spanish speaking friends. We all had to take it... regaurdless. Hope this helps. Good luck

you should contact your school. Our school posts intern for the summer but the jobs are in other countires. You get room and board plus pay. Good Luck

Thank you all so much. I am still so happy about this small accomplishment. The advice I would give is listen to what the professors have to say and focus on that studying. Don't wait until the last minute to study, take good notes, answer practice questions and use an NCLEX book to study if you can. I have found that the NClex book has what's most important. There is a lot of info in this class so to be focused is key. Good luck and let me know how you do.

I am so excited. I passed my med surg class!!:yeah:I just had to shrare this with the nursing world because I am so happy. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Only three semesters left. :) Have a merry christmas everyone and thank you for all of the support.

The only reason why I may regret it sometimes is fear of failure #1. I am in med surge and only passing by 2 points and we have 1 test and the final. I guess my #1 reason isn't regret it's just fear. My regret is now I am broke, with the economy, and being unable to pick up extra hours.... ugh. my credit which was perfect is now showing late payments. My children who hang out and do nothing because of no money and I have to study. I have however grown so much in the nursing program. It has been very challenging. I pray everyday that I just make it through. My professors are wonderful however the program is difficult. If i make it through or not I would have nothing bad to say about the school or the professors.

I feel compelled to write because I too am a non triditional student. I am in my 40's and am a junior in a nursing program. It has been an emotional and now to financial struggle. Being torn between the children, the housework, school and work.... Sometimes I feel this was the worst decision I have ever made. But I keep telling my children and myself that things will get better. At this point it has to. So to the person who started this thread, if all you are having problems with is the clinicals, you will be fine. This is your first round you said, they will come easier to you. Good luck to all of you smart, brave women that went back to school to start yet again.

in ma you can not work under the callibor of your license. In other words and RN can not work as a CNA.

I have heard that people do work full time during the program, all though I don't know how. I would not. going to school 4 days a week and a twelve hour clinical. I work twelve hour shifts over the week ends.

In my first year of clinicals we had to look up all the meds. and the info on our pt. the night before. When I got home I had to look up the meds and the class, state why they are used for that patient. I had to do a care plan and a concept map plus the patho on the disease that they had. It took me a long time to complete the paper work. Some times 3 hours. The post clinical was no picnic either. Now I am finishing up my first semester junior year and it doesn't take long at all. Save what you've done, so you don't have to look it up again when your next clinical rotation comes around. Good luck

just let me start by saying that in my last post I wanted to say that our school has an extremely high pass rate for the NCLEX. Also I am currently a nursing student. I think it to great to be an advocate for yourself, but it is how you do it. I have seen students yell at the professors and last year the school had to lock all the doors except for one because a teacher was threatened. As a future nurse we have to look at the big picture. Get all the facts, come up with a solution or at least a direction, then present the problem. No whinning, no complaining. Nursing school is very very difficult. It just gets more and more difficult. If you want things to change then play the game, get the education and put yourself in the position where you can impliment that change. Until then suck it up, and don't give up.

I am in an RN program that is very difficult. It has an extremely high pass rate and that is what's most important. Sure the stress level is high, but nursing can be very stressful. In my mind if I can pass this program, I can pass the NCLEX and that is the main goal. If you don't pass the NCLEX, then it was all a waste. In nursing we students as well as nurses and the professors (who by the way are nurses and have worked in the field) we have to do what we call critical thinking. Why can't you go on your class web site and post questions about the material where you are confused. Someone will respond and a teacher or two my even respond. This would be getting the support and knowledge from your peers who are in the class. Also when you take the time to explain it to someone else, you know you have it down. Instead of putting your focus on the bad and neg. take the time to figure out how to make it better. Good luck

I have never used that type of service. However my friend did. She spent about $300.00. It took the person a very long time to get the resume back to her. That all happened almost a year ago and she still does not have a job and more importantly has never been called for an interview. My friend also that she has to "do her resumes" alot and I am not sure what she is doing if she paid some one to do it for her. My friend does have a bachlors in Bus. and is currently in a masters program for teaching. I personally would not pay someone to do that. There are so many resourses out there... I think you can handle it. In one of my classes they said that it is personal choice on how you set up a resume... As far as order, (most recent first or first job first) stick to the facts. Use a vanilla paper, not white. Use regular font size 13. Once you do it, save it and keep adding to it. The personal statement can be general, but the cover letter may have to be written per job. I am also sure within this site we will provide all the support and help you will need. Best of luck!

you didn't mention what actions your job took following the claims the person made. Did they suspend you? Are you still working there? How about...Did you stop the verbal abuse when this person was putting it apon the resident?

maybe you could put in for a different floor in the hospital. I am not sure if you are just not happy with being a nurse or you just don't like the nursing you are doing in the position that you hold within your hospital. You have a year experience so you do have nursing experience. You could try being a school nurse or something. the field is so diverse. good luck

I personally think all nursing programs are quite challenging. Someone or two maybe even three people will not make it through. This does not mean they weren't smart enough, something else could have happened. In my program many people don't make it. For what reason? I don't ask. Alot of different things are going on in peoples lives and sometimes we just have no idea. I researched the nursing schools before I picked one to apply to. What was important to me was the pass rate requarding the NCLEX exam. My school has the highest pass rate in my area and, which is important it is accredited. To me you can pass the classes and get the degree but you need to pass the NCLEX to practice nursing. I also knew I wanted a BSN. So I really didn't research the two year schools. However I do hear that they have a waiting list of a few years. Any way, my school may be difficult however when I get out I believe I will be well prepaired not only for the NCLEX but for a career in Nursing. I wish you well on your journey Good luck

I am not a nurse yet so I am not sure what these words will mean to you. There are so many different opportunities for nurses. You could teach CNA or teach cpr first response for the red cross. You could go into community nursing, work in a school, a jail. Maybe you can sit and write a book about your experiences. You could also work at an agency, they offer benefits to nurses. I hope you find your way. I just know that one of the great things about this field is that you can grow and change. Maybe it's time for you to do just that. You have a lot of experience and I am sure a lot to offer, so go a right ahead and challenge yourself and risk it, step outside your comfort zone and find your fire again. Best of luck

I have never taken the class there. If its a hospital, I would trust it. you can call the state and see what they have to say. I have called them before and they are great. Very nice and helpful. I had to leave a message once and it was detailed and they called me back with a detailed response. best of luck to you.

getting your cna is a good idea, it will make you more comfortable in approaching and talking with the patients. You did not mention if you needed to work. It doesn't sound like you need the benefits. If you become a cna then work for an agency, you can get a lot of different experience and work basically when you want. That way you can keep the job while in the nursing program and not be stressed that you have to work X amount of hours. The red cross is a good place to start to look into getting your cna certification. Good luck!

There are hospital and nursing homes that hire with good benefits. I am not sure what area you are from. Are you willing to relocate? Maybe if you were more specific in the area that you are in we could better assist you. Good luck
