  1. Because your body is shot after a few years of lifting patients, walking miles down long hallways, etc., etc.
  2. This is pretty much it. Maybe the shooter needed a higher dose, but I suspect meds are not responsible for the planning and carrying out of this deed.
  3. Get him to ask his buddies what life is like when you mess with a woman's dream.
  4. Call his wife and ask her if she has any suggestions for how he is treating you. Or if you start talking "hostile workplace" to management he may be gone fast.
  5. I work for the Army cause there's nothing I like better than getting up early every morning and hoping I made the ISIS hit list.
  6. You can work in Kroger meat market and do all kinds of surgery. Don't have to worry about malpractice either.
  7. Your upscale client might be a different matter, but in my extensive career, 40 + years, I've never seen anyone wear a white coat on a psych unit. It's actually dangerous. Hope you don't also wear a tie.
  8. Common Access Card. Mine is used to get on post and access my computer
  9. Are you kidding me? Donald Trump wears a suit. Psych people, even those with an MBA like me would never think of wearing a suit. That's about as bad as wearing a white coat on an inpatient unit. I mostly wear camping pants with a button up shirt with a front pocket to put my CAC in. On Fridays I wear blue jeans. This reminds me of the idiot manager who wanted staff to wear suits in an inner city community mentor health center. Yea, dress up and make patients feel more like losers….
  10. It's not so much trial and error as to which one to use as it is how will the patient and drug get along.
  11. You think he needs to take an IQ test first?
  12. Everything in bold is actually correct. Zenman, former Assistant professor and test question writer for several universities.
  13. There are just too many uptight people in this profession! You're no special than anyone else. Shake a person's hands like any "normal" person. Maybe your cooties won't rub off on them.
  14. From HR: "In order to become a GS employee she would have to have one year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner. Then she would come in as a GS-13 step 1. On the current pay scale she would make $101,246 annually. As you know, she would also qualify for the Student Loan Repayment Program, 5% matching money in the Thrift Savings Program (TSP), annual and sick leave, health benefits, night and weekend differential pay, and caring for America's finest Soldiers!
  15. Do a post-masters program and then start working on certificates, further training etc., cause that's what we do in psych…never stop ...
  16. How many patients you see daily? I can't answer any questions about the VA. Remember I work for the Army treating active duty gunslingers.
  17. I work for the Army and Psych NP's are GS 13 pay scale. I worked as a contractor for the Army for 2 years then went GS in the same job, and have been for almost a year. You get a locality adjustment which in my location is 29K, making my salary over 100K. As a veteran, I just like treating active duty Soldiers and being on a military post.
  18. What kind of NP am I? Damn good one. What is your work setting? I work for the Army.
  19. Should be lot's of threads here with info you need. I'd respond but I'm in the middle of a move and should be passing out here in the heat any minute….
  20. Contact the board of nursing for the FINAL and MOST appropriate answers to your questions.
  21. I'd like to chat with any PMHNPs working at the VA. I'm presently working for the military and would like to compare positions.
  22. You probably forgot to do a search to find the other 789 posts just like yours. This is perhaps the reason for few responses to your post. But I shall give it a shot. Depends on your experience and your perspective as well as the school. You study more advanced topics. At what point? Could be anything, such as, Could you please turn off the light switch so I can show these slides?” NP training. My training was in Psych. I've had other training but that's another story. Depends on many variables, but 3 years experience should help. You can look at school website to find their curriculum so you will know what you have to study. You approach any situation from that of a student shaking in their boots cause they feel like they know nothing. Test question from basic neuroscience: 1. Differentiate G-protein-coupled receptors from ligand-gated receptors from voltage-sensitive ion channels.
  23. Actually your name is very appropriate. In fact you probably don't even realize how appropriate it is. NPs are one solution to the MD shortage. I think you forget that the term "labor" doesn't always mean that, for example, you are picking fruit, but as an NP, you are bringing in revenue. If you think NPs are cheap labor and bad for healthcare why don't you go to Texas and see why they are the lowest state in terms of healthcare providers. Talk to all the people who are doing without healthcare there. It's always about the money, even at the Vatican. Get over that part. Don't forget to tell us how you're going to fix the MD shortage...and how expensive it will be.
