  1. I took a class at a cc this semester while at JMU. JMU required the application and easy for the nursing program be tuned in on 12/2 and transcripts 12/20. My cc transcripts were due two days after they were predicted to be posted. I let my school know and they made a note in my file. But I ended up picking a sealed copy up myself and turning them in by hand.
  2. I am a transfer student at JMU and I just applied to the nursing program. Anyone else applied or accepted into the program that could help me see if I have a good chance of being accepted? I'm so excited and nervous!
  3. Girl that sounds rough! I would have imploded. Good for you!
  4. I work at a hospital 37 hours a week (i get 3 hours educational time every week), drive 30 minutes to school twice a week, took 16 credits this semester, and I'm a single mom. I have good friends and family I'm thankful for and I made a ton of frozen meals before the semester started.
  5. Good question! At my last interview I was scheduled to interview for a different position at my hospital during my shift. Apparently it happens all the time for those of us who work first so people often go in scrubs. Its dedication darling. Good luck!
  6. http://www.hrsa.gov/loanscholarships/scholarships/Nursing/index.html Good luck!
  7. Good question! I would like to know also.
  8. Let your haters be your motivators! Pray for your cousin and hope that she isn't so pessimistic towards others as well. Those hurtful words were obviously her lashing out because of her own insecurities. Maybe she needs some guidance to find her true calling.
  9. You won't know until you try. And high school is a lot different than college. Most people try harder because they are paying big bucks to attend and they can see what the outcome will be if they succeed or not.

I love the bold colors! Lucky you.
  11. My university states on the application that all transcripts from previous schools are required and that if you are found tho have not provided done you will not be accepted. Turn them all in and if they are too low your advisor will tell you whether or not you should retake the classes or not. Your GPA is calculated as a whole. Not separately. Good luck!
  12. Call the local daycares in your area and ask if they have a before school program for school aged children. My daughter's preschool has a before and after program for kids up to 13 years. The children get on and off the school bus at the daycare. Check with the YMCA. Ours has a great after school program not sure about before school though. And it is income based. Also check your child's school. The elementary schools here have a before and after program where during the morning the kids eat breakfast and have recreation and the afternoons they have a snack, recreation time, and homework help. Hope this helps! Good luck and congratulations! I'm a single mommy in school also. I thank God for the help I have from my mom and my daughter's preschool.
  13. Western State Hospital (psychiatric) is hitting.
  14. One of the nurses at my job is 50 and going for her BSN. Its never too late! I will be 35 when I graduate if all goes well. Good luck to you!
  15. Check your school's website to see what classes you need to take before applying to the nursing program. Some schools have a pre nursing course you have to take before applying. I took one at a CC in MD. We learned about nursing history and how we should prepare ourselves for the next few years of nursing school. Unfortunately I moved to VA so I didn't apply.
  16. That's odd. What school do you attend?
  17. LFCC, JMU, EMU, or NVCC all have great programs. Check the Virginia BON site for a list and details. http://www.dhp.virginia.gov/nursing/nursing_edprogs.htm Good luck!
  18. I applied to PGCC for the Fall '11 semester. They were supposed to send out the accepted/ rejection letters the first week in June. I still haven't received mine though. It's driving me crazy!
  19. I second AggieNurse2B. I would see if you could work her for a year or two so that your status will be considered Texan resident therefore making your tuition cheaper. I don't think its hopeless at all. Especially since it sounds as though you have the money for school as long as it isn't sky high! As for the financial aid. The private school where I received my BS from had many international students. Some had scholarships that were based on them studying abroad. When you decide on your school ask to speak with the financial aid office. They'll steer you towards money opportunites. Good luck!
