What have I got myself into...LOL I have emailed the company to ask what they thought, so Im waiting to here back. the good thing is Im a day ahead of you all so I always have an extra day for assignments... I will get in touch with the instructor tomorrow and let he/she know what is happening I might have to drop the class and take the 9week course at the end of FEB if I can get the kit. Thank you L&D nurses
For the same reasons, I am studying to become an OB nurse and I can't wait to return the wonderful care that I received when I was giving birth for the first time! It was an experience I will never forgot! I hope to one day return to thank the nurses who took care of me and inspired me to go after my dream.

Prenatal Costs
Thanks for the information, I am not pg, its a class activity for PSY and the internet believe it or not was not helpful. Many in my class say that it is way to expensive so why bother having prental care...crazy I think. This is enough info for me to make my argument. Stacey

Prenatal Costs
I was wondering if anyone had any idea what a typical , non complicated prenatal visits for the entire pg would cost. Also would this cost include the Dr. or Midwifes service at the hospital. I realize that the hospital has their own charges. If I remember correctly mine was around 1800.00 for my midwives service which was covered by insurance all but 20%. This was 4 years ago, does this price seem correct? Thanks for any info. Stacey

D&C or wait
I am so sorry for all the losses. Just about a year and a half ago I was told I had a blighted ovum (sp) this was told to me at 9 weeks, here in Japan they let everything go natural no such thing as a D&C. I waited and waited for things to happen and right before I would have been 18 wks ( 2 months later!) I finally started to mc, and it was horrible! It was worse then the 40 some hours of natural labor with my daughter. The bleeding after was horrible and very heavy, huge blood clots the sizes of oranges. I would never put myself through that experience again. I don't know much about D&C but they do seem much easier and less painful....

Exempla healthcare?
Japan is a WONDERFUL place! We live in Aichi-ken prefecture, about 2 hrs north of Nagoya and 1 hr North of Toyota City. We came here just about 2 yrs ago, my husband teaches English to the Junior High School in our small country town of Sugimoto, Asahi-cho! I have recently opened an English school for children ages 1-12 and enjoy it so much. The are crazy about learning english! I will miss this country when we have to return to US but I am excited to start a new career as a nurse within a few yrs upon returning! Stacey

Wahoo! I'm going back to school!!
A Doula is a woman experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after childbirth. Trained Doulas understand the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor. Generally, Doulas believe that pregnancy and birth are normal, natural and healthy processes. This includes preparation for birth helping the laboring woman with encouragement, comfort measures, relaxation techniques, and an objective viewpoint, as well as support after childbirth, such as help with breastfeeding. http://www.chronogram.com/healthyliving/glossary.htm Sure wish I knew a doula when my daughter was born...my husband was a bit of a wimp. (Saying that with a smile on my face.)

childs burn
We went to the Dr finally this morning 24 hrs since thise happened...We woke up this morning and I took the gauze of to check the burns and the blisters were so huge must have been about two tablespoons of liquid..so I managed to find a lady in town (we live way up in the mountains) who speaks a bit of English and she wrote a note to the Dr about what happened and off I was.. The Dr speaking very little english was very surprised and started working on the blisters..he drained them then applied a very thick white cream and then covered with sterile gauze and then put a wrap on her leg to hold it all together..(looks like what you would hold a pork roast together while it cooks) anyways we are to return everyday for treatment for one week to make sure infection doesnt set in..He mentioned it was second degree burns:o I feel just awful my stomach is so upset and my heart is broken.. Using this heavy cream is this going to keep it from scaring? Or after treatments and the area is healed what can I use to prevent/lessen (if thats a word)scaring? Any suggestions would be lovely!!! Thankyou to all Stacey

Proof of Immunizations
I was just informed the other day that in order to send in my application for nursing classes that I had to get records of my immunizations; mumps, measles, rubella and Hep B. Ok I can understand this but where in the world would I get these records from? Its been over 25 yrs since my immunizations...Did anyone else have to send this proof in with their application?:

Symptoms are Nothing just the fever really...they said her throat was a bit red but she doesnt complain of anything in the slightest...just the high fever...I have no clue what the med is its in Japanese I was just told to give it to her 3xday and thats it...she threw up once yesterday and had the runs the day before but those were the only times for either and she plays and acts normal...she does say she is cold at times and tired more often then usual that sums it up

High fever in daughter in forgein country
I was just wondering if anyone could help me to understand this..I live in Japan and my 3 yo daughter has been sick the last 3 days with a temp between 101 and 104.3. I took her to a doctor tonite and was told thru a translator that she is just fine (at the time her temp was 103.9.) She must just have a bug they said..and sent us home with some sort of medication its a powder to add to liquid. Now I always thought that any temp near 104 was very dangerous in little ones? She hasnt really eaten anything in the last 2 days and if she has it has come right back up..They did tell me that if her temp hit 42.5 which I think is like 108.5 when iI did a temp conversion..no way in H*LL would I let it get even near that! SO seeing that I am in a forgein country what might be some things I can do to keep her temp down..any suggestions would be helpful..And I do plan on taking her back tomorrow if it doesnt go down from 103. Im just in a pantic.
