Passed nclex last Thursday with 75 questions. I kept a tally of med questions, sata, ones I knew I got right and ones I knew I missed. I wound up with 38 select all that apply. Yes 38 of them. I hate them but I had to deal with them and this is how I approach them. Look at the question and figure out what they are asking. Then look at the available answers. See which ones do not belong and eliminate them. Then look at the remaining and see if there are obvious right answers. Then see if the remaining answers could be grouped somehow to the answers you picked. If yes I would pick them also. If not I would ignore them. Remember just because it is ' select all that aPply does not mean you have to pick more than one.

I took mine on the 6th and it showed up on FL BON today. On the NCLEX site it says 1 week though.

Pearson Vue trick worked. 75 Questions 37 Select All That Apply 31 Drug Questions Most of the drugs I didn't recognize. I think some of them were made up. Almost like they wanted you to think through something you didn't know about. It was a very intense test. I used: 'Assessment and Delegation' did all the questions and rationals for all right or wrong. 'Exam Cram' I did hundreds of questions a day on CD with rational for all right or wrong. 'Saunders 5th edition' Questions on the disk, hundreds a day with rational for all right or wrong. I signed up for 'Hurst Review' online. I would have saved the money if I had it to do again. I found myself falling asleep during the lectures. It is good if you need a refreshment of the basic material but I don't feel it helped for the NCLEX at all. I would save my money on that one. The thing that helped the most was the notes I found on here. Here is something else I did that I think helped a lot. If I got a question on the disk and I didn't know the material, I would research it and learn it before looking at the rational. Then I would see if I would choose a different answer. In the beginning I would find myself picking answer I though for sure were right but were wrong. The research helped me understand why I was wrong and how to look at questions in an NCLEX way. I did the Pearson Vue Trick as soon as I got to my truck. It showed the same screen it always did after I signed up. After an hour of driving home I stopped at a McDonald's and used their wi-fi and got the pop up that says, 'The candidate has recently passed this exam.' I was so happy!!! Good luck to those of you who are planning to take your test soon.

Check in the Workforce Investment Act. There should be a program near you that will help with school. Locally we have one at the 'Escarosa Center' I don't know where yours would be. Try searching online. They helped a lot of people in my school with tuition, books, fuel, childcare and other things required to attend school.

Maybe work at a Dr. Office for a little while.

In school now (last semester) and it is defiantly more stressful than getting in. I think getting in has more anticipation and frustration but not really stress.

Stool can get pretty hard, like a rock. Think about all the moisture being pulled out. I bet she is impacted. Is there another nurse you could ask?

I did not mean to include everyone into my frustration. I will leave this thread alone but I still have my opinion of it. As far as arguing with a cop. It wont be the first or last time. They have a standard to hold that should be higher than others. I have seen from the countless videos and prosecution of some police officers that some feel they are above the law. I bet a good attorney trumps a bad cop any day. Not accusing 'imthatguy' of being a bad cop before that gets twisted. Just stating that arguing with a cop is within my rights and a cop can't see that then an attorney can show them the light. I'm done with this thread.

As far as "taking a chair upside the head if your in a locked room and can't escape" Here you go twisting things around to suit you. No one on here said "in a locked room and can't escape." They said, "Hit them in the head with a chair while they are asleep." But I guess that is ok for you. You could always lie and say they were attacking you. You know, just twist things around a little to suit you. BTW you keep bringing up your post. I never said anything about your original post, you just felt like chiming in on mine.

I never said not to defend yourself. My comment was directed at the comment that suggested taking a chair to the patients head while they were sleeping. You are illiterate if you can not see what I have posted. I look forward to your post on, "Should I be in jail getting sued?" And NO it would not matter if it was my patient or another nurses I would NOT take a chair to their hear. I would defend myself from harm but not with a chair to a sleeping patients head. You will make a fine inmate one day if you choose that route. You are twisting my post around to try and make it look like I said "Stand their and take a beating." Point that out for me. I am glad you are steamed. You get worked up pretty easy huh? I hope your instructor brings it up in your class and when you act like a jerk she kicks you out of class. BTW I may be new to nursing but I am in no way new to the world. Take your time and read through my posts real slow so you can understand what I write before putting words in my mouth there tough guy.

Where in this whole thread did anyone say it was wrong to take legal action? I only said I felt that as a nurse it would be wrong to hurt your patient even if they hurt you. (i.e. taking a chair to their head). Where would you draw the line? It's okay if they are 60 or younger? It's okay if they are male? I just feel it is wrong to hurt any patient. If you want to press charges, go for it. I never said that was wrong. But to even joke or use a hyperbole (which its intent is to cause/ create shock) about harming a patient I feel is wrong. You guys can peck away at your keyboards all night about it, I do not care. Wrong is wrong. They are still patients and to joke about taking a chair to their head, to me is disgusting.

I am shocked to see all the posts on here suggesting violence. First and foremost, they are patients. To press charges or not is up to you and would depend on the situation for me. I would NEVER condone retaliating with violence. What kind of nurses are you?

If I was a student and I found out you got to retake the final to pass after you had the same time I did to study, I would be ******!!!

I live in Pensacola. I can't tell you much about the job market. I am not out of school yet, one more semester to go. The houses here have gone down in price dramaticly. Almost in half. So there are good deals to be had on that side of things. Insurance isn't that bad. I have a house on the water and it isn't killing me. It all depends on the flood zone. My house is elevated enough it put me in a better flood zone. If you don't have a house on the water it shouldn't be too much different that where you are now. Just shop around. If you decide to move down here send me a PM and I will send you some info. I can get you in contact with the best realestate agent in the area. If I told you the deal she got me you would flip! I moved here 6 years ago and would never move away from the ocean again. I love it here.

Keep out of it. If she is doing that, she will get caught eventually, if not, oh well. All you have is hearsay. It really isn't your problem. Just do your work the way you should and worry about you. You can't spend your life getting upset about little crap people try to get away with, it will consume you if you do. Keep yourself focused on getting the best grade you can on what you do.

They can't get a job in dance? Hmmm who would have thought. The reality is this. It is tough times out there right now. I was a paramedic for years, got out of it and went into contracting and construction and opened my own company. I did real well with it. Money was good. Then the economy went south and I lost my business. I always enjoyed the medical field and had all my pre-reqs already so I decided to go into nursing. It wont pay what contracting paid but it will be nice to have a regular paycheck and retierment. So am I wrong? No. It is called adapting. It is how people survive. Just because it wasn't their lifelong dream to be a nurse doesn't mean they wont make a great nurse.

I think what you are asking is if you should talk about him. I think to CYA you should not discuss him with anyone outside of your clinical group. All he has to say is, "I never said that." and you just violated a HIPPA law. Also consider where you are at. Psych clinicals. They are not in their right mind or they would not be there. You can't hold them to anything they say there. During my clinicals at psych I got a kick out of how fascinated the other students were at 'Who their Pt's were." "My patient owns the Krispy Kream donuts. He said when he gets out to come see him and he will hook me up." followed by a big smile. :) I said, "Where are you?" (She never got any free donuts) "I don't know why my patient is in here. He is normal. I was talking to him and he said that his parents had him locked-up in here to deem him insane so they can take all of his money. He is a millionaire." I said, "Oh let's go look at the chart."....."Homeless, schizophrenic, pick-up by police officers while standing in the road naked screaming." I don't think saying, "He said I could" will fly. I would just avoid the situation.

It takes a lot of dedication and desire to complete nursing school. You don't seem to have either. I would quit wasting your time and other's opportunity and find something that truly makes you excited to do. Don't you want to feel the same excitement you see your classmates have for this? Find what makes you feel that way and do THAT.

Read it, think about it, write it. That is how I can learn best. I make a ton of notes on what I do that with. When I review for a test, I remember how I thought about it. I have tried other ways and didn't do as well. You have to figure out how YOU learn best.
