  1. JesusRocks... Well said
  2. I'm not completely against abortion. However, I don't agree with the fact that a lot of times the father doesn't have a choice even tho he helped create it. I'm talking about the fathers that are perfectly capable of bringing a child up on their own.
  3. I can deal with the fact that I will never be able to have 20/20 vision. However, contacts for my strength are much more costly than someone with one that is half as bad. I would just like the prices for contacts and glasses to go down and the ability to see farther than a foot in front of me without assistance
  4. This is useful information, thanks! :)
  5. Go for it! I would if I could. I can't afford it and there is a slim chance I can have it done due to my astigmatism and eyesight (-9 in both eyes). I'm fine wearing my contacts and glasses, but maybe one day I'll be able to get the current version of Lasik done :)
  6. Good luck :)
  7. You are in Justin, TX? I don't know if it is accredited, but there is Concorde in Arlington for LVN and a couple in Dallas. As for RN, I think everyone has a waiting list around here.
  8. ^^^ignore that one. I read the link sirI gave :)
  9. Thank you sirI and Silverdragon :) So I am wondering how traveling nurses work? Are they only allowed to *travel* to the places they are licensed then?
  10. I saw that, but it didn't say which ones you could work in. Like for instance, I am in Texas and I was wondering what other states I could work in.
  11. My husband thought that too, but it didn't sound right. I tried to google it more and found Nurse Licensure Compact. I wonder if there is a list of which states are included.
  12. For some reason I can't think of the term for this. It has been a few years since I've heard it and can't figure it out. It is where you are registered in one state and there are states that you can practice in without being certified in each state as long as you are certified in that one.
  13. I just had to post after I read the first post and apologize if I missed something.. The OP is in Fort Worth.. well, my husband works for the EMT service for FW and I am sorry that some/most of them are rude. I just thought it was interesting that you brought this up and that there might be a chance that he has been to your LTC!
  14. How weird.. thankfully my school hasn't started that.. I always go in early to get the prices so I have on hand what I need to spend anyways... EEEK!
  15. I thought most places with doctors offices and walk in clinics weren't open 24 hours where-as the ER usually is, so the ER is more convenient I'd imagine for some to go to at odd hours of the day/night? :imbar
  16. What about seizures? No? Maybe etoh induced seizures? Maybe? How about a gsw? I agree with you to an extent, but I believe your list is missing some stuff. You can't poop? Anything else?
  17. People that call 911 for something like a stubbed toe because they think they can get seen in the ER quicker (because they came in by ambulance).
  18. I seem to remember someone mentioning how hard it was to work 12hrs and nights. For some people, that is the only way they can. My husband for instance would rather work nights and 4 days a week (mandatory 4 days for his job) than have to work days or mornings. Why? Because if he works anything but nights, he is late and can't seem to wake up in time no matter how long he has worked those hours. Nights is definitely better for him because then he doesn't have to worry about waking up on time. Just my $0.02 :)
  19. I won't mind them when I can finally work because it fits right in with my husband's schedule of 12 hour shifts since he works as an EMT :) I know I probably won't get the same schedule as him but one can only hope
  20. I'd imagine that doing such a career change wouldn't be an easy task, but I believe that is what you are going to encounter if you want to leave what you are doing now. The closest I can relate is my husband was heavily into politics.. now he is working as a paramedic.
  21. Yes.. it is not a bridge program. It is a 4 year university and it has a BSN program. I just wasn't sure how it would work since I wasn't going to be able to do all 4 years at the university and that I would be transferring. Thank you StlRn2b1206 :)
  22. A good friend of mine years ago became my good friend when I started tutoring her in math. She was horrible at it and had to get to a certain level in order to get into the nursing program (as it is with a lot of places). She succeeded in getting to the level she needed, went through nursing school and makes one of the best nurses I have ever seen :)
  23. It has been a while since I've considered what I've wanted to do with my life. I had a general idea years ago to become a nurse and I loved the idea that there were so many ways to advance within nursing. I am putting into consideration what I want to go to school for. I'm 30 years old and would like to get things rolling so I will be going to school for basic classes starting in the spring. Now my BSN question is this... I have considered going for my BSN, but I am starting out at a community college. How would I go about doing so? Would I have to get my associates in nursing to be able to branch over to BSN via a university or would I be able to get a general associates degree such as in biology and be able to enter into a university's BSN program? Thank you in advance!
  24. So far I haven't seen a single "go for the MA" opinion so far
  25. I knew I'd get really good advice from those on here I have decided to pursue the LVN school so I shall be back for moral and studying support Thank you again everyone!
