Yes, 3% NS should always be on a pump. It's way too easy for a patient/family member to fiddle with the dial-a-flow and increase the flow. Some people fiddle with them just out of nervousness not realizing what it does.

In the ED the docs order CT abdomen with oral contrast only, the gastrographin illuminates the entire colon. If a severe blockage is found they frequently go back and repeat the CT with IV contrast witch illuminates circulation in the bowels.
