  1. Wow! There is alot of common situations in all ER's I live in CA. We see the same problems. Believe in your self I was a secretaryand believe me I made it very easy for the nurses too tell me what I needed to do. Plus I offered my self to help or whatever. I was secretary/er tech. But anyways Yes the Secretaries do talk about nurses and gossip just like other people. But hey now that I am a nurse in the same department you have to stick up for yourself and just say these orders need to be put in and leave it on her desk and make sure she sees it and walk off to get your meds. Imagine I for example I have was a tech and secretary in the same department and now a nurse some days i do feel i am doing everything while others are on the cell phone in break room gossiping. But hey what ever its not only me who sees this. I just try not to take things personal. If they roll there eyes who cares. Dont take things personal. BUT NEVER FLAG YOUR BADGE TO THEM AND TELL THEM YOU ARE THE RN. No one should do that. I am a nurse and still youll will see me changing garbage bags and linen carts. SO WHAT!! If I can help so be it. Its hard though sometimes I dont like certain people I work with but hey I am there for patients not to make friends RIGHT! Hey good luck, Just stick with and dont just find do it be ASSERTIVE NOT RUDE.Congratulations for passing and getting a job in ER.
  2. Dont worry too much I know its easier to say this hey relax You gotta give yourself credit. You have came this far and believe me I was just like you I think now I believe we make it harder than it really is. Because yes it is an important test but really just think like it is another test and believe you will do good. Make sure you are getting enough sleep. Very important. Believe in your self and do what you gotta do as far as family. I wish you the best of luck and remember be positive and say to yourself I can do this I will pass. It works I passed my lpn. I took my test march 7 2009 and just got results. Good luck!
  3. :urck:Congratulations! very happy for you!
  4. Congrats, Good luck in your nursing career.
  5. I took my test for Lpn in March and the I believe that Kaplan did help me the most. Because the questions give you the practice on using your critical thinking strategies. They are harder but as far as difficult but remember you have to be able to choose the answer. The questions on nclex are not all black and white. You have to know why you choose the answere and make sure patient safety. To review and subject you are not sure of or lab values Saunders does help. But as far as questions and practicing questions Kaplan because it is 24hous all day and different questions and you can choose that the program give previous answers that you had incorrect. So I believe Kaplan well worth my money. I hope this helped you. Oh and organize your study plan according to your date of exam and make sure you have enough sleep. Stick to this okay. Good luck!
  6. Congratulations on taking your test. Amy I wish you the best of luck. Now your real challenge is waiting for results. I got my results in about 4 weeks and believe me i started looking out for the mail man three days before. So Good luck again and dont drive your self nuts waiting keep your self busy. You deserve some time off. Keep us posted!
  7. I recieved the same message and it took about 4 weeks to get results in mail I passed. But believe me you feel so horriable because never in your life have you waited a envelope so badly. You feel very anxious and frustrated. But then you recieve it and then you get results. So just keep waiting, I know how you feel have patience it wont be much longer now. Good luck!
  8. Congratulations! Hey dont worry it is scary but if you get a job at a hospital youll get orientation and it is about 3 months. Ill tell you my story well got transfered into a gvn position right away because I already worked there now I was on orientation for about 2 months now that I passed nclex I am almost done with Orientation. Dont worry its not scare because you will have help and your not alone I know you probably got use to your classmates but really there are alot of nurses out there willing to help. "if you approach them nicely". Look youll be okay and remember dont take the stress of work home. Never do that. Big NO, NO. I am happy for both of us. Tomarrow I get my own pyxis access code. FInally I get to pull out meds bymyself!!! I will have take a picture to place in scrap book. Good luck!! try to get a job at a hospital so you never loose your clinical skills or get into registar nursing. This is where you travel to different hospitals to work. In your area of cours if you choose.

  13. Well took the Test on March 7. Got home tried to reregister for the nclex and did not let me go to payment method. So got a little relief than untill April 8 I got results in mail. The letter is dated April 3. Thanks and Good luck JayBE. Youll do fine. Just prepare and organize your time wisely and DO NOT STRESS or at least try not to. And if you do use stress to study some more and always stay focused. Okay Good luck!
  14. :typing thanks alot guys!!! hey my scores were about 50-70%. so it varys dont worry too much on scores. read the rationales, and the wrong answeres understand the why would you not choose this answer. i did reschedule only because i was unders alot of pressure. my boss said if i dont pass i would loose my job and everyone in my department was always asking "did you test". and i worked partimes through out school and full time during preparing for nclex so it was hard. i had to take vacation off for two weeks and did not tell anyone i tested. but i studyed my butt off. everyday get up early excercise and kids to school and study study. honestly i dont think youll ever be ready. just have to do it. i had alot of select all that apply and maternity and psych. no meds and alzheimers(sorry for misspell). medis with generic and trade names. know your toxic levels on meds for example digoxic. oh, what helped too got to the thread (random fact throwing) helps too. know your insulins. i had c"s through out only a couple b in nursing program but clinical i had it down. so read and understand it. saunders for labs for sure memorize these lab values. put all your heart in this you guys deserve this. we all come a long ways okay. only reschedule if you must and use time wisely. always do 200questions at least okay. trust your self. after i took my test, i was like what i could not believe i was done. i threw up as soon as i got home i got my self so nervous and scared. honestly questions were not that bad. some were hard some harder and some easy. pray that helps, i will pray for your guys too, good luck future nurses, remember read through the question and pace your self, do not rush through it !!!
  15. Dont resschedule the test. You will do fine. Take a snack on that day and a bottle water because they will give you breaks and dont take a watch or braclet they will remove this stuff from you. Day of the test try to relax and do some yoga and believe in your self okay. GOOD LUCK AND I WILL PRAY FOR YOU!!
  16. :anpom:Congratulations!!!!!!I am so happy for you!!!! I just passed too so I am with you in this AMAZING FEELING!!! Feels so good. Good luck in future.... :anpom:
  17. I tryed to reregister and the site did not let me pay i got my letter small white: Passed lpn!!!!!! But the waite oh my gosh how awful never in my life was i waiting for mail. This was a nightmare but finally nightmare is over .... Passed, thank you jesus.
  18. :tku: " you have passed the examination for licensure as a vocational nurse(nclex/pn)". this is what my letter said finally i can relax. wow! it really feels good. i wanted to give you student nurses some tips on overcoming this nerve racking test. i only got 85 questions and less than 2 hours i was out of there. i used kaplan qbank questions and saunders lpn review book the orange book and i used hurst lpn book. kaplan for sure guys get it, it is the most similar review ever for the nclex. well it ask you the questions kind of like nclex in the way it is formated with a clock and mulitple questions. they are hard questions but its okay try to think your way through. saunders is good for comprehensive review only use it to study your weak areas and do the test behind the chapters. hurst helps you with test strategies and listen to the audio tape really good advice from the lady. memorize your lab values and what abnormal values mean. remember do not stress out if you do like me pray and start exercising it really helps to get rid of all that anxiety. than relax and think positive thoughts. when you get there you will get a white board to write anything that you should forget. get help from family to help with kids because i work and have kids and had to study for this test so during this time it was crazy!!!!. but dont worry you guys have it in you, study hard and think positive!! i wanted to say thank you to all nurses for this website and all the students who respond to this site you guys rock!!! there is great advice here at this site and i love being a member!! finally that stepping stone is done, now off to lvn to rn bridge....
  19. :clphnds:Congratulations!! Thanks for posting your advice to others and I am very happy for you!!!!!
  20. Good luck Carebear77! And Congrats to everyone who has gotten accepted.
  21. Okay well I used Saunders and Kaplan Q-Bank Questions and I used the Hurst review for lpn and that helped alot. Go through the Saunders chapters and do the test without reading the chapter and see if you pass with a 80% or above and if you do go to the next. This tip was Suzannes tip. Then if you dont get that score you go back and read the chapter and study the rationales and test to pass with a 90% or higher. This is a good way to find out what areas you are weak in. Make sure you know your lab values and what happens to the body when they are abnormal signs and symptoms. I tested and got only 85 questions and I think I passed but not sure. I have a good feeling. Well and do at least 200 questions a day on saunders and on Q bank. Read rationales right and wrong. Key point YOU GOTTA UNDERSTAND THE WHY! Why do you do this or that verses the other. Okay GOOD LUCK? IF YOU STILL GOT QUESTIONS CONTACT ME OKAY, I AM HAPPY TO HELP!
  22. :ancong!:sooo happy for you!!!! when did you test and how long did you get your results? i am still waiting for mine. i tested march 7th.
