  1. Erica sorry you feel this way. According to everything I have read about the pearson trick.. you have passed ...and you're on your way to becoming an RN. But if you want to wait to celebrate when you're 100% sure, thats fine.
  2. Loops...memorization is the key. Straight forward regurgation, repetition. Dont get caught up with the dates...just know what was happening during the period of time( which war). What acts apply. The study guide was very accurate on what to study. Im not sure what type of learner you are...but I got alot from being asked questions or grilled by my study buddy. As far as EC practice exams...I wouldnt take an exam without them. Good Luck
  3. Congrats...the summer will be full of familar names at the CPNE this summer. Way to go. I hope everyone gets their requested test sites and dates.
  4. Congrats to all...its good to hear you all talking about your plans and CPNE. I'm 2 tests away...find myself drifting to Allnursing and CPNE boards...cant help it. I'm going on an allnursing fast:nono:....starting tomorrow. Tasha keep your head up you will get it.
  5. I'll be ready to study in about a week if you need a study buddy.
  6. I think you have to be ready for this like any other nursing program. As fas as challenge and dedication. For the online it is at your pace, but you still need to be decipline enough to complete the require reading before taking the test. This is the best money I've spent. There is an application fee $$$, I've only had to complete the nursing exam...there are 8 exams (8 x 250 = $2000 add $65 for practice test if you chose addition $520) 1 credit course for computer $365...When that is done you do pratical exams to test clinical knowledge...you may need to travel to NY for this. Its approx $2550. It may seem like alot but compared to flexibility and at your own pace you cant beat it. Different people do have different pace. Also, you may need to complete your prerequiste Micro , A&P and some other. I started in late January, I only needed to complete the nursing courses. I should finish my exams by next month...and the program sometime in Sept or October. You should contact the college for more information as far as whats required for you.
  7. LS 3 down on to Repro. Taking chronicity last. Thinking about doing them together. Just feels so close ready to get it over with...I know patience grass hopper. Looks like FCCA is on paper for the reminder of the year. Any how hope everything is going well with all.
  8. :yelclap: Yessss, congrats.
  9. :w00t:I'm so happy for you congrats.
  10. Good job...congrats. I would talk to an EC counselor about getting the earliest date. The only know the regions with the shortest wait time. But for now enjoy.
  11. You should do fine relax and get some rest, :zzzzzyou have alot of experience to fall back on. GI was not on the practice exam but may be on the actual exam. I would be suprise if any type of graft would be on the exam...but you never know. Good luck to you.
  12. OK Im torn. Dont know what to take . I have 2 test left (soon ) Repro and Chronicity. Not sure which one to take 1st. Chronicity since its similar to the last test. Or Repro because its shorter and covers everything.
  13. Determine2b, the study guide says its 3 hours the same as the other exams.
  14. kellpn, i think you are doing the right thing by taking chronicity before transitions. but those discussion forums can be helpful and intimidating. i didn’t think is was that bad ... but it was a shift from the normal nursing related questioning. transitions were all about the facts. there are no nursing diagnosis, prioritizing or critical thinking necessary. it must feel good to be so close...i'm hoping to be done before they switch the fcca to online (sometime in june but it keeps changing as far as being pushed back).
  15. Touche KelLPN, Congrads on LS2, it was a beast. :dancgrp: I'll take LS1 around 15th...depending on the testing site. I'm doing Chronicity last...a 160 questions exam deserves to b last.
  16. Passed LS2...half way there . Studying LS1 and LS3. Kind of backwards but wanted to get the LS2 out the way.
  17. Finish Info to literacy and Health differences. Taking LS2 next Tuesday. :dzed:
  18. Hi all, I started Jan 2011. So far I've completed 2 tests...and chickened out on one (LS2).:sofahider: when my practice exam scores showed virtually no change, it was time to rethink, regroup. Take Info Literacy tomorrow. Then Health Differences (Fliud & ABg) exam next. My plan is to finish exam by June 2011. Too bad... Im going to miss the paper FAAC deadline. Just wanted to say a few words goodluck to all.
  19. Hi All, My...this thread has really grown. Congradulations all:yeah:,there are very few school in or around Orlando that offer a direct BSN degree. Anxiety is definely expected. :sofahider
  20. you may want to look in the international nurses forum for you answer. unless you have completed a program of general rn training (and received your cgfns certificate and passed the nclex-rn exam, which examines the range of nursing client needs questions on management of care, safety and infection control, pharmacological and parenteral therapies, etc., and become licensed as an rn), you will not be able to work as an rn in psychiatry or in any other nursing specialty in the usa. the problem is that the united states, unlike some commonwealth nations' jurisdictions (e.g., some canadian provinces), does not have registered mental nurses (also known as registered psychiatric nurses). for more information on mental health services in the usa, see the substance abuse & mental health services administration's national mental health information center. good luck
  21. I think, I get the gist of what you're asking. I wish I new more...Is it a new school, private school, applied for accredittation or are they not considering accreditation? For employment, does it matter if the school you have attended is not an accredited school? In most cases, it does not matter. (But in this environment that may change) Most employers (Not the military or Travel agencies) require new grad to be eligible to sit for the state Nclex or pass the NCLEX exam. For a BSN degree, does it matter if the school you have attended is not an accredited school? It depends on the school, most schools have agreement with Universities to (directly) transfer or honor others schools nursing degrees. Again, alot BSN programs require you to have a valid RN license and completion of prequisites. The big deal is will they honor your previous classes if there is no agreement in place. Check out the schools offering a BSN and look at their requirements for RN to BSN. Good Luck
  22. Oh...my favorite thread. What's happenning out there? Study hard future nurses I know you're busy.:thnkg:
  23. Its like Christmas again for you all. They proably wont send the first letters out til late May or June. Did the tell you when you'd know. - Background check takes 72 hours...fingerprints 30-45 days. Got luck to you all.
  24. i wouldn't worry about things you can't control. there are other things to worry about? :typinghave you seen the schedule? it's very challenging. accreditation is from ccne: its a brand new school, accredidation does take a little bit. i'm not sure most knows what its like to go through an accreditation. they have applied for the accreditation, its a process...they wil have their site visit from the accreditting agency in nov. shortly they will find out about the accreditation. from my impression of them when i visited the facilities, its a beautiful school, the staff is top notch. i dont think they will have an issue. so, what is the big deal with being accreditted: - alot of the scholarship for nurses ask that the school be accredited by ccne or nlnac. - most travel agencies want hire nurses from accredited schools. - some higher degree schools accept degrees from only accredited schools. rn license is different: you can sit for the nclex, rn license is the main goal. most states only require that you have a current licensed if you wish to apply for their license. as far as finding a job. remington students clinicals are at the major hospitals. additionally, some of the hospitals position that are open for new rn requires a bsn degree. i would love to go there but the travel was my issue. good luck with your choice.
  25. Herzing classes and clinicals are at Night $30K+ Keiser classes Pre-req day or night but the Nursing classes in Day time $30K+ Remington BSN day time (12 months) $30K SCC offers a (evening and weekend) ADN Here's a link to all the CC's in Florida http://www.fldoe.org/cc/colleges.asp Research the school for schedules. Your initial encounters with these schools was stranged. But I've known and worked with students and graduates of both Keiser and Herzing. Herzing is new, but there 1st pass on the Nclex was good 27 out of 22...81%. The down side is that is not NLNAC but the are fully approved by the FLBON. Keiser anuaral class have graduate yet. I went for site visit and nursing orientations for all of them. I only went to Herzing once the night schedule was not for me. Good luck with your choice.
