Help The Nubulizer! get to your patients.
If you work at Shea it should be easier for you to get into an open position. Have you spoken to their RT director! I hope so. Get experience first before you start worring about baloon pumps and open heart....

What is your opinion/knowledge base on recovery programs?
Arizona Here! Here is sunny Az it is called the CANDO Program-Chemically Addicted Nurses Diversion Option. I have no direct experience with it (I have to drop monthly UDS for BON and quarterly Evals for the BON for 2 years) I'll be done in March. from what I understand it is a 3 year commitiment and pay as you go ( meaning it is expensive) . I used to think they were harsh but after being sober ofr a while I realized they are just doing their job....remember their first concern or priority is not the nurse but the patient or public.

Help! Job Hunting
Why not put all of your " experience" with your mom on a resume. I would. 2005- present- PRIVATE DUTY NURSING----Nursing Assistiant, Registered Nurse, Case manager for 85 year old Dementia patient. Explain what you did. It is pertinient experience and LTC facilities would love that!. Go to career builder and send out every app that you can. Its time consuming these days to get a job but keep filing out apps.

How do you get out on time?
. This is a time saving technique. Just make sure that none of the meds are incompatible. I have been a nurse for 17 years and pride myself on excellent time management. Since I now am an ER Nurse I am always out on time unless a trauma or code is in progress. When I worked on the floor I gave myself a certian stop point so that I can close my charts and tie up loose ends. if there were orders on charts that couldn't wait I took care of them when I was done. Day shift was 530pm ( for a 7pm end time) @ 530 I would be done with 4's and 6's meds. Dinner insuling given and time for me to close charts and tie up loose ends. Learn how to delegate. I always tried to help out my techs as much as I can so when I asked them to chart my vitals and I&os I never got any grief. Utilize the floor volunteers as much as possible. You should not feel bad or get grief as to passing stuff on to the next shift. if a Nurse gives you grief politily tell her that you did what time allowed so your sorry but SH*& happens. Good Luck...it does get better.

Banner Nurse Fellows Program
Just curious.....Banner is laying of Nurses and other staff at this time, they have stopped construction on their new hospital. Why would any students want to do internship there if there might not be any jobs when you get done?
-
banner layoffs
I heard that some Charge Nurses are being let go but mostly Coders and ancilary staff. Here at Maricopa we are in OK shape, Still getting OT, Construction still going on and we are pretty Busy. My best advice to all new grads is get a job as a tech or PCT in a hospital you would like to work at as a nurse so when you graduate they will be more apt to hire you.
