  1. whatever you do, make sure to give the meds. That has to be the priority over almost everything else because if they're missed or not given on time, you will be hearing about it and med errors will affect your license...not doing a bath won't.
  2. Aren't you seeing the other threads on allnurses.com that talk about the supplies not available, getting sent home for wearing your own mask, nurses quitting due to the risk they're being put under? There were tons if comments on these. Also, check out the NNU videos on Youtube..they'll let you know what's happening!
  3. Why give 4 weeks notice? You are increasing your chances substantially of getting sick! If I were you, I would get out now! Actually, quitting is quitting. You can give some notice if you want, but it's really not required. They make you feel that it is. I hope you have something else lined up. Stay well.
  4. 2 weeks notice is not required..if you quit, you don't owe them anything. They don't have control over your license either.
  5. Good for you! Actually, 2 weeks notice is not really required. Get out of there now!
  6. 20% of nurses taking care of covid19 patients in New York are sick. Your idea for "good enough practices" to reuse masks is really not good enough!
  7. Why do they think the virus isn't airborne? Early on, the CDC authorities said that it hangs in the air for 3 hours..someoe with CV19 sneezes & it's not airborne???
  8. Really EXCELLENT article! I applaud you, j1m2f3! Thank you for saying what needs to be said & saying it very well! May God help & protect nurses! The neglect of those over them who demand the sacrifice of their very lives is unconscionable!
  9. "Surrender your license "? Why wouldn't someone just quit instead? Can't take license then!
  10. I don't support medicare for all so unable to sign but am in perfect agreement with nurses being protected. It's unfortunate that you are aligning your political position with the dire need for PPE and this unprecedented disaster.
  11. don't keep going back to work..obviously, they don't care if you come down with it..take a family medical leave act or just call off sick. Take care of yourself! You may be out of a job, but you won't lose your license! Take care!
  12. Seems like hospitals are always making demands that nurses show up no matter what and show their lack of appreciation by making them pay for trying to save their own lives!
  13. Thank you for your post! It's good to see someone verbalizing the ongoing & inexcusable lack of supplies that medical personnel need right now!
  14. What about applying for something different or a transfer? Phone nurse? I bet they are needed right now. Even home health might be better than in a hospital which is basically one big petri dish.
  15. I was already working PRN so I didn't have as much of a commitment. My director was very nice about it. I could have probably asked for a leave of some kind, but wasn't sure if they would go for that.
  16. I hear you. We nurses have nursing in our blood. It's hard to walk away but you did the right thing. Protect yourself & your loved ones!
  17. Totally agree! I am of retirement age, working part time, so I resigned after 14 years! No masks, no tests, lots of flu & patients with flu symptoms that are negative for flu. Nope. Not doing it.
  18. It's amazing how many nurses here have such a defeatist attitude that we shouldn't ask for extra pay for putting our lives on the line. How dare we?? That's why conditions for nurses never get better. All nurses do is tear each other apart. Very few know how to show respect for each other, especially among younger ones.
  19. Your answer is very rude! Nursing is a business & workers have every right to negotiate for more $, just like any other business! Her question was very valid. Try acting more civil!
  20. The economy isn't crashing! Stock market up over 2000 points yesterday, 500 points today!
  21. Ridiculous comment! OF COURSE, we are deserving of hazard pay! Sending a nurse into a patient's room with no adequate PPE is like sending a soldier onto the front lines with no ammunition!
  22. Excellent idea! Very deserving of hazard pay! Unions should be pushing for this but other than giving good speeches, they do little to help nurses in the trenches.
  23. So sad to see nurses pummeling this guest who comes here with a horrific experience to relate, yet in return she receives condemnation from other NURSES! It's beyond belief how bizarre humans can be! Instead of understanding, we have nurses on this post who would rather blame! She did nothing wrong except turn to you all for help!
  24. I didn't pick up any "snottiness" or "anger" in her post - she thought she could turn to nurses for empathy but you all succeeded in proving her wrong..you're no different than the nurses she encountered in Brazil. Sad.
  25. "Having to have pain medication & help is a shameful thing" ??? What a truly bizarre answer to another human being who received abysmal care postop major surgery! What are hospitals for if they can't help & give pain meds???
