  1. February 2015 Medical City Internships

What dept are you interviewing for? Good luck!
  2. Parkland ER Nurse Residency 2012

Goopsy, in reference to your question about the schedule. Yes your schedule will be set for the 2 years contract period, which starts after your residency. You won't neccessarily get nights, it's usually about 50/50 with who gets nights or days. They...
  3. How do I word this on my resume?

I listed the BSN, even though I haven't been accepted and it helped me to finally get a job. I think most hospital systems have an automated system that picks up and throws out resumes according to key words. I know mine was getting kicked back becau...
  4. DFW GN/RN June 2011 Internships

    Congratulations!
  5. Critical Care Trauma Nurse Parkland

Thanks. I was getting discouraged because I graduated in Dec, so I needed this!
  6. Critical Care Trauma Nurse Parkland

Just as I posted, I got a call from Parkland! I got the position! She also sent me an email. Hopefully, they will have the same courtesy to contact you but I think at PArkland, they always do either way. Good luck to you. Maybe it won't be much long...
  7. Critical Care Trauma Nurse Parkland

Meggo, who are you waiting to hear back from? I had an ER interview and I'm getting discouraged because I haven't heard anything yet and a poster posted that they were offered a position on Friday.
  8. Texas Nursing Jurisprudence Examination

It's easy. Most of it is common sense; the rest, you have time to look up the answers. Even if you fail, you can retake it every ten days.
  9. DFW GN/RN June 2011 Internships

Well I'm a December grad so that's why I'm a bit discouraged. Thought passing the NCLEX would help but it hasn't. Most recruiters are no help, they just say apply online, which I'm doing of course. Out of over 200 apps, I've only had the Tele and one...
  10. DFW GN/RN June 2011 Internships

Well, I have several things working against me. I don't work for Baylor, have no hospital experience and only have my ADN. I heard last round they took 6 people and only 1 had an ADN. This round they said they are taking 4 people. I haven't heard any...
  11. DFW GN/RN June 2011 Internships

txmommyof3, curious to know when that person was offered the position. Was it for Telemetry-Baylor Grapevine? I interviewed for that position as well and haven't heard anything.
  12. Which is the best review book for NCLEX-RN Exam?

Do you need it for content or questions? For content, the Saunders Comp. review is good. I prefer the PRentice Hall Reviews and Rationales book personally. However, they both lack in questions. I felt out of all the questions I did, the Saunders Q&am...
  13. GN determined to pass NCLEX, need motivation??!?

Just wanted to add, don't worry about the HESI. I don't feel it's a good predictor. I did poorly on all my HESI's. The exit HESI I only made a 784 and I passed the NCLEX with 75 questions the first time. HESI to me was all content and a lot I'd never...
  14. GN determined to pass NCLEX, need motivation??!?

Do you feel that being out of school for so long can be a factor? If you need a good review, Hurst is a great review! It's expensive, but it is a good review of content, unlike the Kaplan that focuses on strategies (which I didn't find worked). I th...
  15. Work as a CNA. The two places I interviewed preferred you had CNA experience. If I had known that was important, I would've done it during my summers.
  16. Level 1 nursing student....HELP!!!!

Saunders is a great book to have. I used my NCLEX books instead of the text. First semester is the hardest, it does get easier. Things to consider when answering is the Nursing Process, Maslow's, ABC's and safest, least invasive first.
  17. nursing diagnosis help

Can you use "small bowel obstruction" in your diagnosis? I would just say Knowledge Deficit of disease process and therapuetic regimen. That would be the NANDA way to state it. Then in your goal, you address the The client will verbalize a basic und...
  18. I don't know why today I felt like giving up..

If you truely have it in your heart to help people, then it will come naturally. Working as a CNA will help. Once you get use to the patient interaction, you'll gain more confidence.
  19. I agree with mymy. The thing that got me through nursing school was knowing that it was just a short, temporary time in my life that would forever benefit my future. First semester was the hardest, it does get easier.
  20. Saunders Online Review. Good?

Is it the one on evolve? I purchased it and hated it! It was a waste of money. Very very very basic info. I signed on once and never signed on again. I used the Saunders Q&A book. Did about 150 questions a day for 3 weeks. I passed the first time...
  21. HESI vs NCLEX-RN

I found HESI to be difficult. We had a mid-HESI and an exit HESI, I did below the standard of 850 that they say is what you need to pass NCLEX. HESI was content based, which we didn't learn every little detail in school, so a lot of it I had never he...
  22. PRENTICE HALL

I have that book and used it through nursing school. I loved it, I used it instead of my textbook. I did not use it for NCLEX, just too big and overwhelming. All I did for NCLEX was the Saunders Q&A book. Loved it! Felt the questions were very si...
  23. Studying Advice

Everyone is different and learns different but the way I studied was, I would use my review books (such as the Saunders Comprehensive and the Review and Rationales) and studyt eh content we were going over in class. That way I'd have the main points ...
  24. saunders comprehensive review or hurst

I liked Hurst. I was always told you have to read it, write it and hear it to memorize something and hurst makes you do all three. I also used Saunders Q&A book for questions. I felt they were written a lot like the NCLEX.
  25. Have you ever heard of this many SATA?

I had that many! Every other question was a SATA on my test. I felt good about it. I don't know if it's true, but I felt like they were higher level questions. I passed! Good luck to you, I'm sure it is a sign that you did great on the test.
