Ugh, I need to vent before I lose my mind. I just started nursing school last month, and it is an unbelievable amount of work. I feel like I am barely able to keep my head above water. I am used to doing good in school, and not trying too hard. I am barely making a B, and that's with me studying harder then I ever have before. I feel like I can't keep up with anything, school wise or home-wise. My house is filthy, I feel like I am neglecting my daughter and husband. I leave school everyday, thinking maybe I'm not cut out for this. I knew it was going to be a lot of work, but wow. I want to be a labor and delivery nurse, so I know I will have to deal with a lot of stuff that I don't necessarily want to, to get where I want to be. I am so afraid of failing, because I feel like everyone will judge me. I gave up a decent paying job to do this, and now I am wondering if it was the wrong choice. Plus, next week we are starting clinicals, and I am so nervous about that. I feel like they are just throwing us out there, and I have no idea what I am doing. I tried talking to my husband about this, but he doesn't understand, he just tells me I'm not quitting. Ok, thanks Doea anyone else feel this way? Alright, I'm done venting, time to hit the books.

If all goes well, I should be graduating in Nov 2010, and I will be 26. Fingers crossed!

I received a letter from the nursing school I applied to. The first line read "Congratulations, you are now a member of the Class of November 2010.":yeah: I am so excited. I had already been accepted to the pre-nursing part of the school for the fall, and now I am officially accepted to the Nursing school in Jan. I can't wait to get started!! On a side note, my baby girl is 11 months old today! I can't believe it! Where has the time gone! I can't believe she will be a year old in a month:cry: Anywho, just wanted to share my good news with people who know how hard that dreaded wait is waiting on "THE LETTER". Good luck to everyone still waiting!

The only problem with trying to stay at my work is I really need the classes I am taking this fall to get into any n/s. I wouldn't be able to work full time and take the classes because the classes are during the day. Hopefully I will get some answers soon!

A little background: I went to college for a year after high school. I took some general classes, but really had no idea what I wanted to do, so I quit school and started working full time. It actually worked to my advantage, because most of the classes I took, I need now for ns. There are still some pre-nursing classes I need, so I applied to the ns I want to go to, and was accepted to the pre-nursing part for this fall. Acceptance letters to start the nursing program in Jan should be going out in the next couple weeks, and I am SO nervous. I have been at my current job for 7 years, and I have already told them I am quitting in Aug to go back to school full-time. I have this huge fear, that I won't get into the nursing program, and I will end up not in school, and jobless:crying2: I have talked to a few people at the school, and they told me once you are accepted to the pre-nursing part, most likely you will be accepted to the nursing part, since they obviously wouldn't waste their time on you if they didn't think you were goin to make it all the way. This is such a huge step to make, and I just hope I didn't quit my job too soon.

My goal is to work in l&d. I have wanted to work in that area for quite a while now, and after I had me daughter, it inspired me even more. I can't wait!

That's my only concern about only getting my diploma. I do have an aunt who graduated from the school I am going to attend, and she was able to get a great job right after graduating. I hope I am that lucky!

I am taking 2 classes this fall, and I will start the nursing program in the Spring! I can't wait! I will still have to take A&PII when I am in nursing school, not looking forward to that semester:no:

Currently, I work full time, but that will change in Aug. I am not currently in college, but I will be starting full time in Aug. I took most of my gen eds when I graduated from high school, and at the time I had no idea what I wanted to do, but it helped me out now. I am taking a few pre nursing classes in the fall, and starting nursing school in Jan. Right now we have a family member who runs a day care in her home who watches my daughter, but when school starts and we go down to 1 income, we are going to try and find ways to not have to pay for day care. My mom and mother in law may be able to do it a few days which will really help financially. I know that sounds cheap, but I am really worried we are going to struggle financially. I know it will be worth it in the long run though!

I've heard good things about the program I am going to attend. I'm so excited to get started!

I'm curious if I am the only one attending a hospital based diploma nursing program? I've noticed most people on here are talking abour ADN or BSN programs. Just wondering if I am alone??

I am so excited to start the class as well! I am hoping to buy the books early to get a start on it. I believe we get our book list at orientation in July, so I am exctied! My husbands thinks I am nuts for being so exctied, but I don't care:yeah:

What exactly is the TEAS test? I'm new to the nursing world

I am planning on quitting my job, and it scares me so much. I have been at my current job for 7 years, and while I don't like it, its more of a comfort, than anything else. I am married and I have a 6 month old, so we are trying to get used to only 1 income. I have been saving my paychecks, and using some to pay off my car before I quit. Such a big step, but I know it will be worth it.

My current job doesn't necessarily suck, its just not for me. Its not challenging enough. I joke that I am getting dumber the longer I work here:specs: I have been here 7 years, and at one point I felt this was where I belonged. I no longer feel that way. I feel nursing is the best for me because I want a career where I can actually help people and make a difference. (I know that sounds really corny, but thats how I feel!) My goal is to become a l&d nurse. When I had my daughter 6 months ago, I had the best nurses, and I want to help women like they helped me. Plus what could be more rewarding than helping bring a child into the world. I also know with nursing, you are constantly learning new things and dealing with new challenges, so this perfect for me!

Has anyone attended this school? I live in Illinois, but I am hoping to get into this program. I applied in Dec, and I had to finish 2 classes before they would consider my application. Now when I receive my final grades, I have to send them my transcripts and then they will review my application. I have an aunt that attended this school and she was able to find a good job after. I would like to hear some more input from others though. I have no experience whatsoever in the medical field so this is all new to me. I like how their program is shorter than going to a regular college, but it also worries me that you only graduate with a diploma. It seems like a good program though.
