CVS-NY application in danger of acquiring "Incomplete Report" status
Help!! I'm a nurse from the Philippines. I paid for the CVS last year around August and CGFNS sent the signed forms (by me) to my school and the PRC in November 2014. My school sent my transcripts in January but CGFNS updated to status "RECEIVED" 2 months later, now in March. Now, PRC status has always stayed in WAITING TO BE RECEIVED. I call PRC every now and then but they say they have not received anything from CGFNS yet. CGFNS says the opposite as they sent a letter in November last year saying they've sent the PRC and the school the documents already. My 180 days expires in April or May 2015 and I will have an INCOMPLETE REPORT for the CVS which CGFNS will forward to NYSED!! What do I do? PRC is very casual when they say "Nothing yet. Call again. Bye." (I have an Application for Licensure already to NYSED; License Validation for California nclex test result has been received by NYSED; I've done the 2 mandated courses -- child abuse and infection control; Only the CVS is missing and it can't move forward because of PRC) Everything is complete except for PRC license verification. Did I pay $390 for nothing? What to do?

My 180 days expires in April. PRC keeps on saying they haven't received anything from CGFNS yet but CGFNS says they mailed everything in November. Who's telling the truth?

POEA/SRO Nurses for KSA
I'm here in Saudi and am soon going back to the Philippines because contract will be finished. Like some others here, the institution I am now in has terrible management. They are requiring us to work for 7 days (meaning-- without a dayoff) without even asking us if it's okay. Work is heavy. It's just a polyclinic and the monthly salary is very unflattering-- 1500 riyals (i know, I'm an idiot for taking this job..but it's a long story about semi-illegal recruitment because I was told while I wasin the Philippines that I'd be working in a hosp, etc). I'm wondering if I should go home or extend my stay until at least after I am able to find another institution, preferrably a hospital this time-- that pays better and has better compensation for heavy work (should work be this heavy again, that is). My friends in the Philippines keep on telling me to just stay here because "there is no hope here (Phils) so you better stay there in the meantime". But as I've said, management is terrible with its employees. There are too many policies almost close to slave labor. So, what do you think? If I go home, will there be a chance that I'd be able to get a job again abroad if my experience is only in a polyclinic? We have ER duty though.

ATTENTION: CA BON Now Requires SSN to apply for NCLEX.
What is the link to the source of the long memo? Because the one on the Ca BRN site is only a 1-page article stating something about not accepting applications without SSN. Where can I officially find the long one where it states "one DOES NOT HAVE to retake, even if the file is abandoned/destroyed because the nclex result is still valid." Where is this one at?

Saudi- MOH
try AFT Manpower at Mabini St. somewhere in Malate. Lots of agencies there. Some are requiring experience, some aren't. i don't know if they're "good" as i'd just passed an app myself. good luck!

What are your plans as a RN?
Your mobility capabilities as nurses are impressive! I'm still unemployed. I'm currently on Plan X and nearing Plan Z by the minute because Plans A-W didn't work. I've passed the exams (which are expiring next year!), signed a contract (US), got 3 months volunteer work...tried applying for Saudi Arabia for a full year and a half-- to no avail.. and now, I don't know anymore. I guess I'll just go and eat sand soon.

Global demand for nurses falling, says PNA
Old news that the media has touched on just now. Finally. *yawn* It should be in the news everyday, so more people would avoid being like me-- a non-quitter all for nursing but jobless in the end nonetheless.

Norway needs more Pinoy nurses, other skilled workers
Norwegians have a fairly good grasp of the English language, just like the Swedes, because it is part of their school curriculum. I've been told this by a Norwegian friend. However, if they use pure Norwegian in the hospital for charting and everything, then I don't know how that's going to be for foreign nurses. I'm not in the position to judge if it's hard or what because I've never been in that position. Only, I know a lot of Norwegians speak and understand English. Aaaand offtopic but as for them being stereotyped as all blondes, it isn't true. My friend would always emphasize that.

VisaScreen Status: Mailed (How long do I wait?)
thanks suzanne. i'm fully aware that there is a retrogression and it will take 1,000,000 years to get to the US to work. i'm just thinking that if it gets lost in the mail, i would have wasted $448.

VisaScreen Status: Mailed (How long do I wait?)
It says on my CGFNS account status VisaScreen Mailed April 22. What courier do they use in mailing the certificate? Some people say they use UPS which only takes 3 days. Should I start worrying? The 3 days are up. I was not given a tracking number, nor was I emailed that it has been mailed. I've tried to contact CGFNS, but the "Contact Us" option has specific times available for use.

It's So Hard to Look for a Local Job!!!!
Sure, sure. But try applying now without a backer. Even volunteer positions are governed by backers.

It's So Hard to Look for a Local Job!!!!
This is my exact, same problem. Most of the other countries require 2-3 years experience. UAE requires 2-3 years. 2-3 years also for Australia and New Zealand. Same with Canada and Singapore. Oh.my.god. Stuck in a rut.

To those who have taken both exams, w/c is harder: NLE or NCLEX?
they really cannot be compared since the nclex is computer-adaptive. but personally, i'd say the nclex is harder. i was in shock after the computer screen turned blue.

Nclex Poll For Filipino Takers/passers
how many questions you had on your exams? 75 what did you use as a review material? kaplan trainer, delmar online, saunders comprehensive cd and book, saunders q&a cd and book, lippincott comprehensive cd and book, mosby cd enrolled in a review center or home study? semi. half-enrolled in a review center for 6 days, then did self-study. 3 months comprehensive, 2 months pure question-and-answer. percentage of the topics you're very familiar with on the actual nclex questions? zero. familiar to a certain extent but zero if the question is pertaining to the nclex being easy. wasn't easy at all. the nclex was nothing i've ever encountered before. what did you feel after you finish your exam? very, very depressed. i thought i failed. i found out i passed one month later when the results arrived in the mail.

how to request CA-BON to forward my nclex result to CGFNS
I recently did this: I passed the "Request for Validation of License/Registration for VisaScreen" to the CA Board of Reg.Nursing together with a $60 bank draft fee and a letter asking them to please forward my NCLEX result to ICHP/CGFNS. I told them about my situation of not having the SSN yet therefore I am not licensed in California but that I still have to pass this specific form concerning a "license". (I think they get it already, what with the number of foreign applicants without SSN.) After I've sent these, I asked them via email whether they have received the form, the payment, and the letter, and to tell me when they are going to forward the result to CGFNS. They said yes they've received the mail, and that they are already processing it, and will forward the result to cgfns next week or the week after next. Hope that helped. :nuke:

Visa Screen Certificate / CGFNS
P.S. "BSN" is a degree, and "RN" is a title so I put RN instead of BSN. Was I wrong in doing this and do I need to write to CGFNS to change it?

Visa Screen Certificate / CGFNS
I have a question about the online application. What do I put on the "Professional Title Obtained"? This is located under the Schools Attended (college specifically). I put Registered Nurse but I was told by somebody that I should have put "BS Nursing" because I did not obtain my RN from simply graduating with a BSN as I had to take the local licensure exam to obtain the RN. Should I write to CGFNS to change it, or is that understood and accepted that after graduating, I obtained the RN by passing the local board? Also, I need to add information on the "Name of diploma" blanks for high school and college - I need to put "High School Diploma" and "BS Nursing diploma" on these blanks. The reason I didn't was because I thought it was understood that since "Secondary Education" is written there and bec. I'm applying for VisaScreen (nurse), I didn't have to. But now it's bothering me that I didn't fill these up. I cannot edit the online application as the attestation has already been signed and the fee already been paid for.

Question about CA forwarding of NCLEX result to another state
Oops it's 60 for Visa Screen, just saw it on the CA website. Now the question that still remains is, how much for forwarding of nclex results from CA to another BON? 60 or 10?

Question about CA forwarding of NCLEX result to another state
Hello. Since I cannot endorse to another state under the California Board of Registered Nursing without a US social security number, and cannot use the License by Endorsement form nor the License Verification form, do I just send a letter telling CA to forward my NCLEX result to another state? How much do I pay for this then? Let's say I already have the visascreen and the CES made for this other state but I need proof that I passed NCLEX, even if I wasn't issued a hard license, so I will be issued a license by this other state. I am confused as to whether I will only write a letter to CA with a $10 fee (this is written on their website under "Copy of Test Results") or a $60 fee (this one's for "Verification of CA RN licensure") for the forwarding of result to the board of nursing I am applying licensure in. Since I am not licensed in CA and am only an NCLEX passer, do I pay the $10 or the $60???????????????? I am also asking this for the VisaScreen. Do I pay CA BRN $10 or $60 for the test result to be forwarded to CGFNS?

Question about CES and VSC
Thank you to both of you. I've already applied online last month (I guess it's too late to cancel) but haven't paid yet and haven't sent the requirements yet. I am planning to send the required items very soon. But also, I will be needing cgfns to do the CES after the VisaScreen as I am planning to endorse the nclex test result to Michigan from California to be licensed in MI, I mean apply for licensure in MI with only a test result (therefore, cannot be called "endorsement"). Will the Ca BON be the one to forward my test result (only a test result as there is no permanent license for people without SSN) directly to the MI BON or is it Pearson Vue I will write for the forwarding of nclex test result to MI? Thank you.

Question about CES and VSC
Is it possible if I'll apply online and pay for both services at the same time so the sending of documents will just be once instead of twice? There are similar requirements in the visascreen application and the CES such as license verification (from the PRC and state board of nursing), sending of diploma, etc. Or do I need to do everything twice, separately? Please help me, I'm really confused. Thank you.

Visa Screen Certificate / CGFNS
Someone who did it himself sometime ago, but certainly not recently so I don't know if what he's talking about still applies now. I know there is a fee of $60, and $10 for the copy of test result, I just don't know what specific form do I submit to them? The one from ICHP which is called the Request for Validation of Registration/License for Visa Screen or the License Verification form from the Ca BRN website? Will they accept that even if technically, I am not registered as there is no SSN? And is this the same form I'll submit to PRC? Thank you for answering. One more thing, about the bankdraft-- is it going to be the same way when I paid for the application for licensure? The recipient or the "payable to" part is "Board of Registered Nursing"? I wonder if I can combine the $60 and the $10 in one bankdraft. Just want to make sure, thanks.
