  1. Sometimes how we see ourselves scares us about how others might think of it... I don't blame you i also had a similar experience last year.... There are times... some patients tend to co-manage your actions..thinking they're older and much wiser....and the person inside of you shout's out.. "Im the nurse here!".... Well that's ok... you just need to be confident. and that takes time... don't allow them to judge your appearance.. just simply do what's best and expected of you...if you stick to that.. you can't go wrong... and you'll earn a bonus of good compliments from your patients.... for your youthful looks and your superb service.. hehehehe.,.,,, cheer up!!!
  2. not much..you don't need to sacrifice all....except ofcourse your money and your time!!!. u do need to balance everything... in maximum doses.... much time will eaten for your studying alone... but u can make it fun.. with some study partners... i call it... a group study activity.. you can make jokes..related to disease physiology or weird names of drug or illnesses...practically making it easier and faster to absorb information... as well as making good recall... so enjoy..... and Do pray .. a lot.. thats the much sacrifice you need to take things up!!!! :)
  3. True, there are schools hiring...incompetent clinical instructors..but not every school in the Philippines does otherwise...I came from reputable University in the Philippines with a very high passing rate in the NLE.. and I must say that they have lived up to the standards ... I never came across a newly inexpereienced clinical instructor during my student days.. Most of my CI's are experts in their feild... So I guess it all boils down to choosing the right school that offers quality education...not just any nursing school found in somewhere...
  4. If there not counted as experience for jobs outside the country...then its really sad that a lot of new graduates fall for this training programs ..and volunteer jobs found now in most hospitals in the Philippines ..that doesn't pay at all and what worst its being abused by the Hospitals today.
  5. I was wondering Again how the leaders of Nursing Organizations in the Philippines like the PNA, are seeing this problem or perhaps they just wont???! ... I haven't felt anything done to regulate further somehow the number....correct me if I'm wrong about what I have said..
  6. Wow!...it really makes me wonder how competition w:smiley_ab will rise from this number... in the coming years we all have strive for a job.. in the US..if there will be??....
  7. Im not for or against any review centers.. but it seems that a lot of these big review centers have lost some of there standards in delivering good quality review.. ive heard a lot from different grad nurses in Cagayan De Oro and iligan in different major review centers that the rationales/after every mock exam were not satisfactory if not poorly given to them.... or... they were hiring... new speakers who lack educational or professional history... some of them even promise a lot of programs within the review that were disappointing and misleading,, buttom line.... Its not the review center that is important but really your efforts to prepare well for your exam.... it would be much better if you asses your study habits/learning styles first and seek the review center that would cater best for your preparation.... Good luck :)
  8. I heard MAN, ( Master's of Arts in Nursing) requires you to finish a thesis than MSN..... I'm considering to start my Master's this coming semester. I'm concern about tranfering to another University by the time I'll move for a job, would the rules be the same llike transfering undergraduates??? will my earn units be credited to other Schools easily?.. or would it be hard for them to credit it ???
  9. It seems starting on your career as a staff nurse in a reputable hospital to gain experience, has been a national problem...atfirst, I thought it was more contain from where I am ...due to the limited hospitals here...but reading all these....makes me really think its a nightmare...we are facing now @!!...
  10. Ive tried NG Review..... The point is... there is no review center that can garantee your passing..I suggest, What you need to do first is find out what kind of a learner are you..? and Which review center would help you in preparing .ASk them how they do their Review classes are done??? it will give you an idea if it fits your learning style and your schedule too ... Do you retrive much information..on remembering long and intenseve reviews ...?? or are you fine with the Question and Answer type of review... do you need visuals to help you remember ..do they have it on their classes??.. you can ask them or those who have tried that review center .. ??? it's really up to you Good luck!!!
  11. Has he done his research??? i mean his from UP... is he serious??? infact, he doesn't even have to.. he can just look at the rising number of new graduates plus the jobless ones lurking around the country hoping to get atleast a trainning slot from any hospital who wants to take advantage out of the high number of applicants... just to get an experience for future...staff position or perhaps ... use as a job experience for overseas jobs... Clearly he left out ,... the qualifications that foreign nurses must comply to get a job overseas...how does he suggest to move this rising number of nurses without experience to work outside that instant??..Not to mention, the retrogression, and monetary reasons to find a job.??.. Now then, he is in no position to tell ..... schools haven't been teaching resourcefulness.... He should have been resourceful himself to take a closer look at the reality among new nurses in the Philippines....
  12. I do hope the PNA...:) would raise this issue to all hospitals ... and make action to really enforce such laws...from what Pinkroyalty said.. i realize we have a lot of laws proctecting us in the work place.. but do these laws have teeth??? anyhow, a far greater matter..(ive heard a lot of stories form mentors) some abuses are just left to be forgotten and nurses envolved keep quiet about it ... i hope this isn't true...
  13. Hey, I just would like to ask,..is anyone here tried applying for the second time? I mean really back to the first exam and all...Were you accepted ?...
  14. Try LPL Manor...Salcedo Suites.. its just a block to Trident towers a short walk..... try checking their website for their accomodations/reservations....
  15. If you have the money then, and well prepared to take the Nclex.. it's youre' call....remmember it will take sometime to process while... taking the ielts won't be too long and less costly...plus it would bring you more options other than the US, if you get an OBS of 7... to countries like NZ,,,...Good luck!!!
  16. Well, if you take the ielts first, and get an OBS of all 7, it will give you more options other than US. Such as NZ, AUS, etc. It also costs less than NCLEX, and is not too long of a process. It will also test if you're really up to work in US, since there are certain ielts scores you need to get. If you passed the NCLEX, it won't be of use if you can't even get a passing ielts OBS. If you really want to take NCLEX, because you have already the money and you're fresh from a review class, its your call. It will take some time to process it depending on what state you want to take it from. Good luck!
  17. I totally agree.. some hospitals I know... , abused their volunteers...for tons of workload .... rather than helping them out to excercise and hone their competence as an RN ..Treating them like a helping aid...but on the other hand, we become more willing victims due to the lack of demand and increase supply of nurses in this country.... we take it ....hoping we get absorb as a regular... just to take is an experience for the latter job we wish for.... Im sorry to ask....What are our Nursing Associations(Nursing learders here) doing with this present state were suffering...? (im also asking myself this..) How can we move to stop This abuse....or control atleast the over supply of nurses here.... i remmember a friend once told me..." nobody's up there... is doing anything ..do know most of the leaders..we have are now benefiting from nursing schools,hospital-school affliation programs or Review Centers they run,," i hope thats not totally true!!!!! ......
  18. :wink2: you did your research Pink!...i hope thats included in all hospital facility handbooks...besides the " dont recieve any gifts, cash or compensation of any form from student nurses or patients" which in reality ....isn't respected these days...... or any law or policy.... for us nurses
  19. It's a good thing youve' decided to start reading Saunder's Comprehensive review book... really did helped me a lot...i wasn't confident to do a self review then, but by the time i went on review classes the concepts and all.. were already understandable.... and whats more i get to retrieve a lot of them during the exam ...so it was a great for me passing the Nclex...Anyhow, doing a self review really takes...a great effort..im sure you'll pass as long as you keep the spirit high... always be positive! focused and concentrate during the exam.. and use your materials to its fullest while studying... anyway thats what youre paying it for...Goodluck Superborj!!!...:)
  20. dhel28..really great help for all...honest but not self destructive answers...really appreciate it...
  21. So, there are no specific law for harassment in the Philippines?? so what do you do then, in cases of repeated abuse from patients. what if you fight back to protect yourself? This is something that is usually of least concern among most of the hospitals. I think if we're always faced with laws to protect our patients..then i guess its only fair if we lobby for laws to protect us health workers...
  22. The things that are happenning right now are really alarming...I feel sorry for those who just got there first year in nursing without even thinking what would be the scenario the moment they graduate form college....now that, most of us are stuck being jobless or forced to be trainees for eternity... We should do something about it!!!... Nursing Schools should be screen strickly and turn the NLE...to atleast a year to somehow control the flow of new unfortunate graduates....
  23. has anyone here (especially phil.-rns), heard about pni international corp., they offer a program that allows you initially to work in canada employment while they process your us immigration.they call it canada-usa pipeline prog...for those rn's in the philippines... if you came across with this agency or perhaps you're familiar with this kind of program ...please do post some feedback... i would really appreciate your thoughts on this....thank you...
  24. HI, Has anyone worked for ADEX Medical Services or is interested to work for AMS ? Could you give me some feeback regarding their terms ... are you satisfied wid what they offer...? by the way, I am a Phil-RN... ive seen their contract and it stated>. the rate depends on your location and state laws that applies to it, but no less than $22/hr... is this sound??? does a contract have to be specific on what state you will be working?? also, what does "bailable hours" mean??? I would really appreciate it if you could pm me.. or perhaps email me in ]... thank you very much...
