  1. Hello, This question is to all current PGCC nursing students, how many out of county students do they accept? I live out of county (Charles County) and plan on applying for their nursing program in Nov.

Can I ask you a question? Do other UMB administrators surf this site? Just curious didn't know what the limits are for talking about the school...0if there are any? Thanks
  7. Thank you so much! I did know about the Open House I have already RSVP a seat. Thanks for the extra information i've been to the information session but we couldn't tour the campus at the time. I'm so excitied. I'm working on the last of my classes now. I'm starting my personal statement and I still have to take the NET.
  8. Hello all!!! I will be applying to UMB Baltimore campus in Feb for Fall 2010! I'm so excited for the current applicants I really hope you all get in! I have been following this thread and all the other ones for UMB for a while now and thought I should post.
  9. hello to all perspective nursing students! i live in southern md and i'm a perspective applicant to umb school of nursing for fall 2010. i will apply this upcoming spring semester, application is due by feb. 1st 2010! this fall i'm taking chemistry i lecture and lab english i sociology spring 2010 english ii statistics history elective humanities elective oh and i have to take the net before january i've already finished my science courses with a 4.0 gpa. good luck to everyone applying your season will come! don't give up!!
  10. I don't have any marriage or family obligations but to take care of myself. So for my situation I chose to get my BSN instead of ADN. I live in the state of MD and all of the nursing programs are 2 years long after completion of pre-reqs for both ADN and BSN! Also it's not expensive about $7000 for each year. So before you make a decision list your pros and cons!
  11. Thank you JRFraker for the feedback about the stimulation labs. I look forward to touring the SG campus soon. One more question if I may, do students at SG campus have clinical rotations in Bmore I would love to experience the Shock Trauma at UMMC center! Thank you in advance :wink2:
  12. e_pigpig I have a question for you about the SG campus? Do they have the stimulation lab similiar to Baltimore? I'm so glad to hear so many good things about SG- a smaller class makes it more easier to get on an one on one level with fellow classmates and staff. I will be going their for sure! Thank you in advance.
  13. Congrats angelp71 and everyone else who has been accepted to UMB for Fall 09'. I'm excited to have found this thread I apply in September for Spring 2010.
  14. Yes I do, I currently work at a hospital in MD as a PCT II (Nursing Assistant) and Telemetry Technician. I've been in healthcare field for a little over 3 years.
  15. I don't think so, when you repeat a class I don't think they look at the previous grade. Good Luck I plan on applying there soon Spring 2010 semester!
  16. I registered for: College Algebra (3) English I (3) Nutrition (3) 9 credit hours Good Luck to everyone!
  17. Where are you applying? University of Maryland School of Nursing Baltimore, MD Spring 2010 What are their requirements/what do they look at for admission? Completion of all 59 Pre-reqs., overall GPA 3.0 (very compettive school they suggest it should be higher), satisfactory score of NET, 2 academic letters of recommendation, and resume. That's all I can think of right now! What is your current GPA? (science and GE) Science GPA 4.0 (I only have to complete Chemistry Lecture and Lab now, will be taking those next Fall 2009) General Education 3.5 (I still have 2 math classes, humanities, english, and one social sciences class left) Any entrance exams? scores? NET, I took it once, didn't do so well I'am retaking to next year, before Sept. 1st. application deadline for school Plan A: Apply to UMB SON complete BSN work in critical care and come back for MSN program for CRNA. Plan B: Stay at the CC I'm at complete their program and apply to UMB RN-BSN program, work and go back for my MSN to become a CRNA. I hope Plan A happens... It will take longer and cost more to go back for BSN then MSN. Good Luck to everyone
  18. I've been a CNA for a little over 3 years now...and love it! I was lucky and started at a hospital where I volunteer, I do believe that was a major plus for me. Working in the hospital allows more exposure and more opportunities to take classes for advancement. For example, I started working on a telemetry floor (cardiac) and after 2 years I trained to become a monitor tech (read ECG's). After a year of that I transferred to Labor & Delivery/Postpartum/Nursery/Antepartum floor where I received OR rotation to learn the in's and out's of the operating room when assisting the OB-GYN in the delivery on the newborn. I know this may sound like fun but the situation varied I've seen many different types of scenarios where there was a healthy delivery of the newborn to no so good.
  19. Dean's List 4.0 GPA this semester 7 credit hours:yeah:
  20. I just completed Microbiology Fall 08 and got an A in lecture and lab my advice to all taking this class soon, is to study the lab is much easier but lecture can be overwhelming. I'm now finish with all my science courses except Chemistry and Nutrition. Good Luck to all.
  21. I didn't know that! So we shouldn't put too much out there then. Thank you again!
  22. I need to register for mine, did you go through ERI? What 2 science pre-reqs do you have left?
  23. I'm taking Nutrition Spring 09 as well. I don't think it will be that bad compared to A&PI and A&P II. Good Luck.
  24. I'm not taking General Chemistry until next Fall, but I just completed an Intro to Chem class online this Fall semester. I have a better understanding of Chem now. Significant Figures isn't too bad to understand as long as you follow the rules. Numbers like 200 and 100 is ambigious and should be represented using scientific notation 200= 2.0X10^2 100=1.0X10^2 Hope this helps!
