Lactation Consultant/Specialist
Yeah I was upset about missing the deadline, but now I see it as fate. I think I will do the shorter option at least for now. Having a strong knowledge base is more important to me now than just having more titles. Thanks for the info, ladies and gents!

Lactation Consultant/Specialist
BrewerRN, FYI the new terms will be 1000 hours and 90, not 45 for the class! It's too late for this year's July test, I believe. Sux I know, but deadline to apply was March 31st! Someone correct me if I am wrong. I am a nurse, but no PP experience so can I do a different Pathway or am I screwed too!

no job after two years
Weird. OK, so apparently age discrimination works both ways. Anyways, we all need to get creative out here. What did you do in your past life? I suspect that you have tons of experience to draw from! Best of luck.

Hang in there, new grads!
Hey Tankweti, Any stock tips? LOL Message me. A girl's gotta pay off loans whilst she looks for non-existant work in a career that promises to always have work for her.... sigh.

Hospitals in Ca are freezing their RN New Grad Program..how about LTC and SNF ?
Wow, that's pretty bold of you to just pick up and move out here. Wish you luck because it's a "who you know" type game. I have heard of people looking for 18mths, but you seem to sell yourself well, so who knows!

Advice for a New Grad RN After Quitting job/ Orientation after 5 & 1/2 months
Wow! I'm a new grad too...not a recruiter or experienced nurse, but I must say my first thought was...why didn't he just stick it out 2 more weeks? Then I read your post. I can't imagine the torture you must have felt and my heart goes out to you. I know you did what seemed best for you, and you are still the supreme person you were before this so-called dream job. Just remember, nightmares are dreams too! We have to protect our patients, licenses and OURSELVES! You did just that! Good luck. :redpinkhe

Shadowing tomorrow - Would like the Position - But there are other candidates

Is there a nursing textbook or handbook for nursing test during an interview?
me too.
-
Normal interview questions/process?
If the DON was a haggardly, old, angry gay male, your theory might work, but last time I checked, female nurses love a little eye candy on the floors. Maybe if you were a young, attractive female, I might even buy it. Assuming you were skilled, etc, I imagine the DON asks these questions of everyone. I wouldn't be so quick to play the "cute" card, if i were you...lol

Samuel Merritt ABSN San Francisco

Substitute Teachers
Would you be willing to post something here? An example of what's on your list? Thanks
-
job ads and no actual job
well that "splains it! Makes perfect sense now.
-
Samuel Merritt ABSN worth it or not?
I would say no, but I am young so if you were older and really in a rush then maybe, yes. I would rather worry about finding a job with 5000 debt vs 85000 which is what I calculate I have. Sure it's a bsn but you can do that online while you look for a job...in mexico or bangkok lol. From the looks here, it is taking 3 mths to find a job. By the time you graduate, maybe 6mths but again 80k difference. Uuugh why did I do it? There were supposed to be jobs waiting for us and now I hear that even the Kaiser Scholars can't find Kaiser jobs? You may be very sorry. Is it worth it to you?

new grad struggles
My heart goes out to you, sister. I am sure everything will be okay, but it is nice to read a post about something other than salary and other complaints. I would be glad to have you as my nurse because you really seem to care. Be good to yourself.

New grad needs employment advice
Dear Butterflybee, let me understand this. You just went to hospitals (without interviews) and filled out applications? Are there applications instead of all these on-line resume thingys? I am confused. That shows some chutzpah thou. Congrats.

corrections is fantastic!!!
I wonder if folks here would be happy to post where they work when they post. I am looking into this field and would like to know where to steer clear. Also, what qualities do they look for when hiring. I am a new grad so my experience will be limited. I am in Northern Cal and would like to stay here, but open. Pls advise

So, would you or wouldn't you (brand new nurse on unit...)
Like that screenname. Can't help but think there is someone somewhere with the name in reverse. LOL Anyway, I think nowhere would a gift of cookies be more appreciated than a psych hospital. It might break some of the tension because I don't think people think to do that stuff for themselves anymore. I hope you win!
