  1. Its ADON with MDS training. I'm still working as a Case Manager and home health nurse, staff nurse at VA and part time in a Psyche lock in facility...Thats what I'm thinking that I'm not ready for this kind of responsibility and thinks that I still need more experience...I asked the agency who offered me this job, why they choose me and where they got my number ..They told me that someone recommended me after I helped them, Ive been helping with the paperworks in my workplace and that's how I learned MDS but I don't have any formal trainings and certification other than working as a Home Health RN. ...It is where i get familiar with different agencies and forms. still I don't feel that confident. But thank you for your reply, this answered the questions I've been asking myself...I know its a good offer but I want to accept that kind of responsibility if I know that I'm prepared and ready to lead a whole facility... My time will come =)....Thanks again..
  2. hi everyone! I'm a newly license nurse and been working for 6 months now, i have Home Heath experience being a case manager, i also worked in VA. Presently I also worked in a Psyche lock in facility and have been helping woth their mds and carepplanning. Recently i got an offer for a position in another facility as ADON. They offer to train me for mds. Is this a good opportunity for me or I have to get more experience before I accept this big responsibility. I'm really interested but I'm afraid its not yet the right time for me. Can anyone give me an advice?
  3. Anybody here choose L&D ? Please pm me if you don't mind. Thank a lot!
  4. I hope we are one of the lucky ones...goodluck to us!!
  5. hi deliverator...I just want to ask what happened after you received the RN Versant Packet and mailed the completed requirements..how long have your heard from them?
  6. I received an email that the documents I sent them was being reviewed but will be delayed due to the volume of applicants. I'm getting anxious and I don't even know if I will be chosen. anyways please if anyone hear from sharp, let us know. Goodluck to all of us!! I wish all of us can get a spot!
  7. Since its hard to find a GN position in Hospitals in orange county. I was thinking if there are jobs offered in LTC and SNF for GN . I'm really worried!! I have to earn a living for my family. =(((
  8. Oh, I'm sorry what I meant is temporary license which is entirely different with IP Interim permit. You can find that information at the bottom of your application form you fill out for NY BON. When I passed my NLEX-RN, I was hired immediately so I asked Hawaii BON if I can work since I'm just waiting for the permanent license to be sent to me. They gave me a form which my employer have to sign after that I was able to get the temporary license on the same day. It is good for three months. Try to ask NY BON. Goodluck and God bless!!
  9. I'm confused because ICHP and CABON are not the same. CABON cannot send the check to ICHP since you address it to California Board of Nursing. If there are problems with your application like for example you sent the wrong form, CABON will send you a letter regarding this. When I was endorsing my California License to Hawaii ,all I did is fill out the application form which is the Endorsement form for Hawaii, then send the Verification of License to California which they will send to the state where you are requesting for endorsement. The only problem I had is Hawaii is requiring all their Foreign Educated applicants to have their education evaluated by CGFNS. This is called the course by course evaluation. As soon as Hawaii received those document my license was processed. Try to check if NY is requiring the same document. That's the only thing I'm thinking of maybe they want you to contact CGFNS. So clarify this with NY board of Nursing and ask them what else you have to submit to them. I know that processing these documents takse 2-3 weeks since you need to work asap. I suggest you go to NY board of Nursing Licensing Department and ask them that you want to obtain a TEMPORARY PERMIT so you can legally work while waiting for your premanent license. This permit is good for three months. NY Board of Nursing will give you a form in which you have to let your employer sign as soon as you have this paper signed, they will give you your temporary permit. So cheer up one of your problems is solved. In the meantime call CABON again and ask the operator that you want to talk to the supervisor, tell them your problem and ask for instructions on what to do to solve it. I hope everything will be fine. I also have kids so I know what you are going through. TC and god Bless!
  10. im sorry about your situation..anyways did you send california the request form " License Verification" ? They will fill this up then forward it to new york. It takes them 2-3 weeks to do this. I had the same problem but California Board of Nursing was very helpful. I hope everything will turn out good.
  11. Don't let these scores pull you down. Instead take this as a challenge. Evaluate your study habits and see what works for you. Time management is very crucial and see to it that you have time to rest. Margarita is right and I recommend you to do that. Kaplan is really good, focus on test taking strategies which I think is very important and will help you a lot in nailing the NCLEX. You also have to read more, everytime you get wrong answers, research for answers. Focus on your weakness and work on improvements. I know this is very overwhelming but you have to do your best in order to pass. Think positive and remind yourself everyday that this time you will beat all the odds and succeed. I only have two weeks to study for my exam so I made a study plan. Since I have a six year old and 6 months pregnant and I do work part time. I sacrificed some things in order for me to have more time to study. I deprived myself from any luxuries like going out or watching tv. I told myself that this is only two weeks and I should give my all. I woke up early morning and read my books ( I pay more attention to understanding the patho of each disease to understand what is wrong and what should be done) then review my notes of values and important nursing concepts and Kaplan's test taking strategies. After this I familiarize myself with medications. Then I go back to being a mom and wife. I have flashcards which I use everytime I have the time like while doing the laundry or fixing dinner. I take advantage of the little time I have. After working, I do the chores at home and see to it that everything my baby and husband needs are taken care of. Then I do practice exams (150 questions everyday) from 9pm till 1am. (pay attention to rationale!) A day before my exam, I never read any books and just relax for the whole day. This study plan and time management works really well for me. I passed my NCLEX and officially a Registered Nurse =). PS These are the books I used Medical surgical Nursing by Lippincott (this comes with a practice test cd which is very, very good) luv this book! Saunders ( very complicated but I read it anyways) Mosby's Illustrated Study Guide for NCLEX-RN by ZERWech (this book is very easy to understand, the illustrations helped a lot) Mosby's NCLEX RN flashcards.
