As some of you may remember I failed the NCLEX my first time around. I originally sat for the exam in June. I was hired as a new RN grad at my local hospital and ended up taking a position as a CNA because I failed the exam. I took the exam again ...

  10. Hello Allnurses friends! I have 2 semesters left before I am able to graduate. When I first applied to school to begin working on my nursing degree, I knew that I really couldn't afford childcare...no way, no how. But because my 2 stepchildren were ...
  11. Frustrated w/ 2 year old. Just venting.

Just wanted to say that I agree with the other posters. Try to get some good library time in. I usually try to stay at the school until 5pm no matter what time my classes let out. That way I can get all of my heavy studying done before I get home....
  12. Got my books today....

That's about $46 per book! I would say that's a pretty good deal. My books (11) were about $700. Even with the hefty pricetags...I love it when it's time to buy books! Enjoy! It's a very exciting time! :) ~Camkib~
  13. Curious. How many "older" students

I am 32, married with a blended family of 5 children: 15, 12, 9, 9, 3. The youngest is a boy. I live in NC for now (military family). I'm starting my 4th semester of an ADN program in August. I'm not really sure what area I want to go into, but I...

  15. question for LPN to RN students

The LPN's that are bridging into our program were introduced to us during the summer. One of them was even my preceptor during a NICU rotation. When I first saw her...I knew that she looked familiar and she reminded me that she would be joining the...
  16. That nauseous feeling again....

When we first started one of our instructors told us that nursing school is like eating an elephant one bite at a time. She also told us...."If its wet and not yours...don't touch it without gloves!" ~Camkib~

  18. Associates RN degree

Try http://www.allnursingschools.com It's a great site and you should be able to find what you're searching for. Have you considered earning an accelerated BSN? Since you already have a degree, this may be a good option for you. ~Camkib~
  19. Anyone Studying Yet?

Same here! My school doesn't make financial aid money available to students for books until 2 days before classes begin. This really sucks because at the end of summer semester, our instructors gave us the reading assignments for the first two week...
  20. How many books do you have to buy?

23 books???!!!! WOW!!! For my entire program we only had to purchase 14 books total. We had to buy 11 of those for the 1st semester. Before reading your post I used to think that was alot. :chuckle For fall I'll be buying my final book (14th) for...
  21. I agree. Ask someone from your program. In my program we were CNA I after the first semester and CNA II in the middle of the second. I was in the same situation as you when I was about to start my program. I wanted to take the CNA class, but they...

  24. What is your minor?

I'm in an ADN program and we don't have minors, but I chose to work on an Associate in Arts degree in addition to nursing. I decided to earn two degrees because it is taking me 3 years to earn an Associate degree which traditionally is only supposed...
