Anyone else have low census? Chronic?
I work in OC also. What you decribed is happening at Anaheim memorial medical center. I think its to do with two things. The sale and the new Kaiser facilites in the area. Its annoying but theres other jobs around if you take the time to look.

How much do NY nurses make?
G'day everyone. Im an Australian RN considering moving to NYC. I have a little over 3 years experience in a major teaching hospital in Sydney. I should have my greencard in 1-2 months. Is it realistic to think i can get a decent job, with a decent salery, and live in a decent area of NYC? Or am i just dreaming??

Visa Bulletin
What are the odds of the july visa bulletin jumping forward 11 months for eb3 All Charge-ability Areas Except Those Listed? The April bulletin had this catagory retrogressed to Aug 2002. So in two months it has moved forward about 3 years.

Visa Bulletin

Where are you from?
Sydney, Australia! Greatest country in the world! I would love to talk to any aussie nurse making the move to the USA. Im waiting for my packet 4. Cheers.

Have u got a call from O G P?
Can you all just relax. We get the 90 day thing ok, w e g e t i t... And the letter, OGP's just 'touching base' with their nurses. Relax.

Aussie nurses working in the USA
Yes you do. 80 hours theory and 40 hours of practical.

US or Oz?
At this point in time, getting to Australia would probably be much easier than moving to the USA. Also i think Australia is a much more tolerant society when compared to the USA. But thats just my opinion.

ogp revised contract
Your right. It just does not feel as clean cut as that. But it's a good way to look at it. Cheers.

ogp revised contract
I still have not signed. I havent had too much pressure put on me to do so. They keep telling me that the orginal contract states that they can amend it, but it does not. It states that both parties must agree in plain english. Also they want my reasons in writing, im reluctant to do so. I just wonder what will happen in the end? Has anybody been given an ultimatum? My first experience with going o/s, thus far has been a disaster, and i still havent even left home.....

Compete America Ask Congress to Reform Broken H-1B/EB Visa System
Thanks for the advice people. I was aware that the job had to be posted for americans first. Also im not looking for a very specialised job, just any old surgical ward for now. Four months from start to finish seems pretty quick when compared to immigrant visa's which makes it tempting. But three things stop me from bothering right now. First im pretty far into the 'green card' process. And second it seems difficult to do it on my own. You know finding a job, liasing with the hospital etc.... and im with an agency.... I might just sweat out retrogression, which is the most frustating thing i have ever been exopsed to in my life. Thanks again

Compete America Ask Congress to Reform Broken H-1B/EB Visa System
I have a few questions on the E3 visa for Australians; 1) Do aussie born RN's fit the requirements for the visa? 2) Where can i find uncomplicated information about it? 3) Any idea on how long it will take to obtain? Im looking for a way around 'retrogression' I would really love to hear anybodies feeback. thanks

ogp revised contract
They have given me till tomorrow to sign. I wont sign it. It's a **** amendment. The orignial contact says, both parties must agree in writing and sign. It also says, OGP will petition for the nurse. They can stick their amendment. Read your orginal contacts people.

Retrogression's affect on you
So are there still visas available for australian born nurses or not?? I am confused, some say all countries are affected as of the cut off date of October 2006, or is it only the PIC countries?? If there are still visas for aussie born nurses then why has OGP not told us this???

Van Nuys, CA tvl nsg @ Valley Presbyterian looking for hospital/housing/local advice
I would definitely not live in arcadia if you are working in van nuys. Going home at night would probably take you an hour and in the morning at least 40 mins. Also van nuys is not the best area, so I would recomend living in sherman oaks or studio city which are both within 10 miles of valley pres. There are many apartments available for rent and there are several roomate finder websites if you don't want to live on your own. Good luck.

ogp revised contract
Hi everyone. I am in the same position. I said i would not sign it. I can't find one single reason to sign something which makes me so liable, it's outragous! Im very disapointed. Would really like others feedback.

retrogression (sorry again)
Thank you Suzanne, I was born in Sydney and have lived here my whole life. Im currently locked into a contract with O'grady Peyton international. Im finding it very frustrating when dealing with them... They seem to feel that nothing will happen in terms of green card interviews until the first quater of next year. My priority date is april 26, 2006. They (OGP) have also issued me with a revised contract, basiclly making me more liable in terms of money if i breach. They have also added some small 'sweeteners' into the contact which gives it a less insulting tone. Do you have any optimistic views or advice for me?? Are there any other nurses out there in a similar position???

retrogression (sorry again)
Hi Suzanne, My name is Tomi and i am an Australian Nurse affected by retrogression. Do you know if the number of applicants has outnumbered the number of visas issued to nurses from my part of the world? Also, i am very new to this forum and would like to ask about who you are, and what you do? (No disrespect intended) Thank you.
