  1. :monkeydance: healthcare immigration alert published by hammond law group, llc november 2, 2006 retrogression f.a.q. on november 1, 2006, the department of state enacted retrogression for schedule a nurses and physical therapists. in response to a number of inquiries that hlg has had, we are offering this retrogression faq. please feel free to distribute it to your employees, friends, and colleagues. there are already several legislative efforts underway to provide additional immigrant visas for schedule a petitions. relief could be within the next month, or could take several months. however, it is widely accepted that legislative relief will be forthcoming. the united states has declared a national shortage of registered nurses and physical therapists, the resulting delays in filling these positions caused by retrogression will be taxing for the u.s. healthcare system and a major force for legislative resolution. edited thread since it is in violation of us copyright law to include an entire article here, as well as for space limitations. you may post a link for this. and remember that this is not from immigration but only the viewpoint of one attorneys' office.
  2. sorry...my mistake... anyway for those in the Philippines do not lose hope...
  3. :monkeydance: PHILADELPHIA, PA-OCTOBER 26, 2006-The Board of Trustees of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS International) met October 22-23, 2006 and considered whether Philippine nurses who have passed the Professional Regulation Commission's (PRC) June 2006 nursing licensing exam are eligible for VisaScreen® Certification. The Board directed its staff and counsel to review and assess whether the licensure process followed in light of the challenged results of the June 2006 exam is "comparable" with that required for nurses licensed in America, as required by U.S. law. CGFNS will then make a final determination of whether passers of the June 2006 exam are eligible for VisaScreen® certification. CGFNS expects to reach a final decision on the question of comparability in the near future. Any VisaScreen® applications that CGFNS receives from June 2006 passers will be accepted but deferred for a final decision until this assessment process is complete. If the assessment concludes that the license is not comparable, the VisaScreen® application from a June 2006 passer will be denied. http://www.cgfns.org/sections/press/news/2006/10-25-06_vs.shtml
  4. :monkeydance: Thank you everyone for all your inputs and comments.
  5. Thanks snowfreeze. Anyway I have a three months orientation with this hospital, so I guess it will train me to become a better ER nurse. :monkeydance:
  6. :monkeydance: I will be working in an ER dept at LA. I am scared right now because I do not have any work experience. My first choise is MedSurg ward, but the hospital panel that interviewed me decided that my personality and background is more applicable to ER. So I need some suggestions specifically for a nurse without a work experience and a foreign graduate nurse. Thank you very much.
  7. :monkeydance: my lawyer also told me that I can get my EAD as long as I-140 and I-485 is already filed. the downside is I can not get my immigrant visa until the Visas are current again.
  8. :monkeydance: you did not mention about what state or place you like to work, but most nurses coming from the philippines, they choose New Mexico or Vermont. the cost of endorsement will depend on what state you applied, you better check the web site and you will find how much it cost. it terms of review center, no need to enroll, just buy Saunders Comprehensive review and practice lots of computer questions. NCLEX is very very very easy compare to CGFNS and local boards. goodluck...
  9. :monkeydance: just make sure during speaking, speak slowly, very articulate and understandable. i did not undergo any review programs but i passed IELTS, i did not even practice my writing skills but i get a high score band, so just relax and believe to yourself. i guess no one fails in this english exam as long as you know how to understand english. goodluck
  10. We may refer to this link as originally intended by our poster batibot re: How to Successfully Answer Traditional Questions in Your Job Interview. http://www.pohly.com/interview-1.html
  11. :monkeydance: this is the proper way: first make a letter of Request for ICHP Visa Screen, then mail it to California BON address with check/money order $60. they will all do the rest. The Verfication of California RN Licensure is used when applying for Eligibility in other Sates.
  12. i didn't say it's bad to use lippincott, the only thing is, if a person who is preparing for nclex is to prioritize and use reviewers which he or she believes that can help a lot. i have read lippincott, kaplan, saunders, hesi, and other small books cover to cover which wasted a lot of my time. so i know already what is the best book to use. when i took nclex, i didn't even think hard enough to answer the questions, i finished it less than 35 minutes, it was so very easy for me.
  13. :monkeydance: i read Lippincott book cover to cover and i tried also the CD, my suggestion to you is to stop using this reviewers, it is a waste of time, use Saunders and Kaplan instead. many of us who passed the nclex with only one take use this books. goodluck
  14. check this link, i collected here all the web sites i used to passed nclex-rn exam, i passed the exam one take and the computer stop at 75 less than 1 hour. i hope it can help a lot, without relying to leakage or actual exam tips from friends. goodluck http://nurses.forumup.org/index.php?mforum=nurses :sofahider
  15. it usually takes three days before the california BON received your result from the pearsonvue. so after three days you've taken the exam, better check the website. if after one week and still your name is not there, better call the BON so that you will know if there are some problems with your papers. they will inform you if they already mailed it or if there is a problem, but the sad thing is, they don't release results thru phone. that is what i did!
