HIPAA VIOLATION
I would just like to believe that none of my fellow nurses would be stupid enough to make this kind of threat and then stupid x2 to put this kind of threat in writing... Hope its a joke.

Am I waisting my time with associates degree?
Many colleges have an accelerated BSN of nursing if you have a BSN in another area. That would be ideal. My advise though is to apply to both and get in where you can.. as soon as you can...

Supervisor upset because I have another job!

Dealing with people's negative comments about nurses.

Which state is better to work and live in Arizona or Florida??
Ok sungrl, I agree, your question was a simple one... no need to get all "deep" and bluegrass response to you was inappropriate... especially the first response.. and asking how could you pose such a question... the question was ok.. lets keep it light people! I have a cousin who lives in Arizona.. she keeps trying to get me to move there. She said there's lots of jobs for nurses. Everyone I know that lives there loves it.. Go visit..

should potential employers use credit checks?
I really don't want an employer knowing who I owe and how much, whether I own my home, have a mortage, student loans, it's just tooooo personal.

I want to vomit - 85 ?'s on NCLEX-PN
The NCLEX exam is designed to cut off when it is determined whether you are a safe nurse or not. That being said, you either did really well, or really poorly. If you did really well congrats. If you didn't pass, keep your head up, many have failed and gone on to become great nurses. I wish you well..

NP Salary vs. RN salary
Serving in the military is honorable. It doesn't however give you the right to judge the underpriviliged or immigrants, or anyone that is not a "middle aged white male". and the last time I checked WE ARE ALL IMMIGRANTS. Just some of us got here later than others..

NP Salary vs. RN salary
stop judging and assuming... get over yourself.... oh the disadvantages of being a middle aged white male in america.....surely you jest:jester:

NP Salary vs. RN salary

NP Salary vs. RN salary
Although I agree with most of your post the part I disagree with is the part about the CRNA. I believe bedside nurses who don't have a love for patient care have a PROBLEM since thats their primary function. The role of a CRNA is more technical and more closely to the role of the anesthesiologist. and after all isn't the patient asleep. I would be willing to bet that if you spoke with CRNA's they would tell you money was definately a motivator...

Would this be considered cheating?
If the professor gave you the tests back with no "disclaimer" then I think its ok to share. I'm sure he mixes up the questions and adds other questions during the subsequent exams. As I am sure he knows people share information. Im confused though. You wanted 2 help her at first but when she aced the test you suddenly didn't feel so good about your decision. Did you really think she wouldn't ask for the rest of your tests and homework? Are you assuming that she only used your exams to study or did she tell you that? I think it would be less of a dilemma if she hadn't done so well. In the end you should be honest with yourself and with her. You'll be a better person for it.

I need your input on a potentially life-altering decision...
I am sure the OP is just seeking advise from the people on this website that do the job everyday. She wants to make an informed decision and who better to ask than us.... her peers and advance practice nurses who are where she is trying to go. Anyway, I thought that's what this site was for .

Scheduled to work called out due to snow--can I be fired?
I disagree with you as not all nurses have the means to "stay in town". Some nurses actually are single parents and do not have the means to "stay in town" or be stuck in the hospital for days. How about this- Hospitals check the weather report and be proactive by having sign up sheets and coordinating with nurses who live in the immediate area and offering them overtime instead of considering someone a bad employee because they live 40 miles away and cant make it.

Patient doesn't know he's terminal
Once you get your license you are the PATIENT ADVOCATE- and lying to a patient about his condition is unethical especially if he is competent. As a student however, its a good issue to bring up with you instructor during post conference- Under no circumstances should you inform the patient about his diagnosis especially when you've already been told not to. I guarantee- since clinical sites are so difficult for schools to secure, you'd probably be reprimanded at best, at worst kicked out of the program. At the school I graduated from, theyd kick you out especially if the family and hospital complained. Just a word to the wise...

Risperdal Constra
Since it must be refridgerated, I always take it out of the fridge a few min early and rub the vial in my palms prior to reconstitution- so it's not so cold going in. Patients like it.

Academic dishonesty dilemma! Advice needed, plz...
If I were you i'd mind my own business as well. Reportable issues for me deal with patient safety, but someone cheating is not something id report. I bet there are a lot more people cheating on tests, transcripts, resumes etc. than would ever admit it or be foolish enough to discuss it. Have you ever heard "let him who is without sin cast the first stone" or "whatever is done in the dark will come to light" Trust me, this will happen without your involvement

Help in Salary Negotiation for New Job Offer
Not much negotiating room with new grads. I would however tell her to pinpoint something on it that makes her an exceptional "new grad" and ask for $1 more an hour. They will not withdraw the offer because she wants more money, and they may meet her in the middle. Tell her to be confident and the HR person will let her know what they can do. I ALWAYS try to get more money and I always do. Most times they laugh and meet me in the middle. I also got more money as a new grad so it can be done. Most importantly, tell your wife to always see herself as valuable. I use to work in HR so tell her don't feel bad, most people get low ball offers.

Is It Possible An LPN Can Make More Then An RN?
At the hospital I worked at a few years ago resource cna's made more than staff lpn's and resource lpn's made more than staff rn's. So yes it is possible, but speaking to your particular situation. Normally I would say mind your own business and maybe she is a good negotiator and negotiated a higher salary. But in this case, you have the right to ask a question about pay since they are the ones who gave you the wrong paycheck. I would probably take it to my Mgr and say something like this. I opened what I thought was my paycheck and was happy because it was more than I expected but then I realized it wasn't mine at all. Ask whatever questions you like- making no specific mention of that particular person and the cases that she works but a general, I thought rn's made more than lpn's. Why should you be the only one uncomfortable. Let your manager squirm around for an answer. I wouldn't advise you to tell anyone about this or even discuss it with the person whose check you received. I would ask though, you might not like the answer, but ask and then move on.

Why lvn's /lpn's should not work in labor and delivery
You never mentioned anything about her lack of nursing skills or her putting patients in jeopardy. If I were you I'd focus on my own skills and charting and leave the managing and directing to the people who have the jobs. The fact that she doesn't wear a badge is actually none of your business, nor is anything you mentioned in your post. It sounds like you have it out for this LPN who probably is a good nurse. Please Please get a life. What goes around comes around

what area of nursing do you never see yourself working in?
I was going to add L&D, Peds, NICU because thats how I feel, but maybe theres a demand there..... since no one else seems to like those departments either... Oh let me add ER. I am nosey.. I like to know the outcomes, I don't want to stabilize and ship them off.

Newly hired LPN is making more money!!!!
I don't understand why it's anyone's business what anyone's pay is. At the hospital I used to work at the LPN's started at $13.50 hr, while resource CNA's started at $18hr, RN's started at $22 and resource RN's started at $39. At the end of the day, if you are unhappy with your pay go somewhere else. That's why peoples pay should remain "confidential". We don't always know what experience one has, certifications, or their ability to negotiate what they consider to be a fair salary. Get over it.

Pet Peeve: Poor Grammar by Nurses
I hate it when people use the word "pacific" instead of "specific".:angryfire:angryfire
