  1. The one that made me say "I Do","Some have the face, some have the body, but you've got both"."You are my dream woman".He nicknamed me "princess" and it's been on every since.
  2. Absolutely 100 % NO, NO, NO !!!!!! I am against the death penalty. Don't believe in taking what you can't give (OH, i forgot they are trying that too with cloning). I don't know how any nurse could do that in good conscious, however my husband says call him day, night, 24/7 365days a year and he will be there pushing any buttons ,injecting anything it takes to get the job done. Hmmmm maybe i'd better sleep with one eye open
  3. The sound quality really is better in the shorter stethescopes, but the longer ones hang around the neck with more ease, which i don,t do anymore since being choked with it by a disoriented patient
  4. I'm sure you know that the buck stops with you!!! Therefore, i would have a meeting with them. Allow them to vent issues they may have. Let them know what you expect from them and enforce it, by any means necessary. Maybe the last nurse allowed them to get away with this. A cna is worth their weight in gold if they are doing there jobs. This is by no means a popularity or friend game. Do the job or get written up ,disciplined or terminated.
  5. I work with quite a few developmental delayed/disabled patients. It takes a patient and knowledgable person to work with them. They seem to sense what is in the heart of the person working with them. They respond well to gentleness and kindness.I have accompanied the children to school and therapy. Keeping them stimulated plays a great part.Classical music is good as well as some tv and lots of talking or reading to them. Always watch their reaction to find out what their favorites are. Here is a website that might help............... http://www.devdelay.org/..... http://www.nncc.org/Diversity/spec.delays.html
  6. Please, if anyone finds out where to get them please e-mail me. I would love to have one !!!!
  7. I agree with other posters. You have a right to think, believe, serve anything you want, you don't have a right to force your beliefs on someone else. Tolerance is the key.I would not have it prominent but tasteful and inconspicuous.
  8. nur20 replied to swacht's topic in General Nursing
I agree 100%. Whomever checks and signs off the orders should be responsible for all entries from start to finish. This sounds like an accident waiting to happen!!!!!
  9. Yes, I take them also. In the private field there's not much choice. So far, so good, We also wear out the FAX machine
  10. I agree with the quicker the better. I prefer the dart tecnique and i haven't had any problems. will pinch muscle if patient is small or thin
  11. Want a good laugh ? One LTC facility wanted us to complete a "TIME AND MOTION " sheet daily!!!!!
  12. ROFLMAO !!!!!!
  13. AND..... IT doesn't snore !!!
  14. I know a great place for those charts !!
  15. I don't know of any but it's a great idea. I'll check around !!
  16. Thank You so much guys. So very helpful. One of my weak areas..
  17. I know everyone's life and circumstances are different and i would not attempt to tell you what to do, but if it was me and i couldn't get any satisfaction from the powers that be, if i have climbed that ladder to the top and no one is listening, i would remove myself. It would not be worth putting a patient in danger or losing my license. One thing a nurse never has to worry about is a job. Your next interviewer will respect you for that decision if he/she is about nursing. If by chance they ask you what would you do if you encountered that same situation there. You would tell them that you would hope they would investigate the situation. No one wants to be a chronic complainer but right is right. Remember, i said if it were me. This is just another reason i enjoy working alone. I am solely responsible for my own actions. I will rise or fall on MY actions not someone elses.
  18. That is exactly why we are telling you to keep your nose clean and CYA.Because if and when it comes down to your word against hers, well think about it. Have your facts straight and documented.IT's hard to argue with the truth. You never know which way this may lead. It could run from management trying to get rid of you or heaven forbid you should have to go to court if something happens to a patient Good luck
  19. DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT. i'M TALKING EXACT TIME, PLACES, WHO, WHAT WHEN AND HOW, ALSO WITNESSES IF POSSIBLE. COVER YOURSELF IN CASE THEY START TRUMPING UP WEIRD CHARGES. A LOT OF THE TIME, MANAGEMENT FEELS THAT A GOOD DEFENSE IS AN OFFENSE, ESPECIALLY IF THERE IS A "CLIQUE" OR A FRIENDSHIP AMOUNG THESE FOLK. SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO REMOVE YOURSELF FROM A SITUATION LIKE THIS. iT CAN LEAD TO SERIOUS SITUATIONS.
  20. THANK GOODNESS SOMEONE ELSE THINKS THAT WAY. i WOULD RUN A MILE TO GET AWAY FROM A THONG. WHY DOES ALL MEN WANT WOMEN TO WEAR THONGS? GRANTED, THEY ARE SEXY, BUT THE WEDGIE IS GRUSOME!!!!! OH, SO SORRY, I THINK THE SUBJECT WAS WHITE PANTS !!!!!
  21. MY Agency picks up the tab for up to 2 hours of orientation
  22. I'm so sorry that you experienced this Vicki30CNA. this is absolutely unacceptable behavior, on the part of the nurse and physician of this facility. When an elderly person has a fall, Fractures are one of the first things that hit your mind, and in my expeience also first in the physician,s mind. Full exam and x-rays should have been ordered immediately. This borders on neglect and abuse. Another thing i wonder about, was this patient on fall precautions? She is going to need delicate care from now on, considering no surgery and good pain management. Anything could have happened from this including throwing a blood clot, leading to..... I'll close now because i'm mad
  23. YES, you are correct, some C.N.A,s do resent nurses, for various reasons. The fact of the names they call themselves reveals low self esteem and feeling under appreciated, not valued and respected. Believe me i understand, i used to be one until i took the next step. I feel that if you show them respect, you get respect. I must admit some nurses walk around with an air of superiority and look down on C.N.A's or would never think of doing something that they think is a C.N.A.duty. I'm glad i'm not one of those. I feel that if you need to reprimand a C.N.A. first have your facts straight and second, for goodness sake don't yell at her in the hallway or where ever. Take her aside. If you can't settle it amoung yourselves then the next step is obvious. I have also run into the situation where C.N.A's feel that they run the facilities. Quite often they feel that way because, in my experience some were around years and years and has stood by and watched nurses come and go !!!! C.N.A.'s check out the second page of my website, dedicated to you !!!!!!! VISIT MY WEBSITE
  24. Hi KmRn, I feel your pain, even though i am an L.P.N. i have been the brunt of this. No one is perfect and a citation for a box check is kind of extreme. Certification time used to give me the biggest headach of the year. After doing your job well all year they come in and nitpick with things. Well there are some other things they should know, for instance the way administration handles things the rest of the year, and only get it in gear when they know they are coming  WELCOME TO A LITTLE CORNER FOR CAREGIVERS
  25. Just wanted to let you guys know how much i enjoyed reading these posts!! I laughed so hard i cried, just what i needed !!!! Thanks
