  1. Selling my uniform & starter kit for cheap. Message me for details!~ ^^
  2. If anyone's looking to buy textbooks, I have level 1 books available for sale. ^_^
  3. Just started my first day of nursing school! Honestly, the fundamentals professor I have has really bad ratings on RMP. But she doesn't seem too bad...yet. I'm taking fundamentals, pharm, physical assessment, stats, and intro to theater. Still in the summer vacation mode though. Need to snap out of it soon.
  4. For most if not all of the older students in my class were pursuing nursing as a 2nd career. There's like only three other girls besides me that are under 21. Everyone else is in their late twenties to late thirties.
  5. I didn't take the math placement test but I assume that you just need to know your basic algebra. You can go to Accuplacer Study Guides | Bergen Community College for more info. It took me one year to finish all my pre-reqs. Good luck!
  6. Yea still expensive even with the ebay route. @_@" I did my CPR through American Heart Association at Healthforce in bergenfield and you get your card on the same day.
  7. I have; so far spent around $300 for books. I also did the CPR cert. The rest I'm going to do in July/August. ^^
  8. Science was not my strong point in high school. I didn't understand anything and failed tests. However, when I went to college and figured that I wanted to pursue nursing, I really buckled down and started studying for about two hours a day. Got all A's and found that I actually learned to LIKE science. Also, for math, just make sure that you just know your basic algebra since it's needed in chem. It all comes down to how determined you are to reach your goal.
  9. I will be 20. I feel a little bit behind from everyone I know. People from high-school will be in their third year of college, while I'll be in my first year of my ADN program. By the time I get my ADN and move on to get a BSN, they'll be out of college. I also feel like I wasted my whole freshman year at a state university. I wanted to be a English or History teacher and took a whole bunch of useless liberal arts courses. Towards the end of my freshman year, I decided to become a nurse because of it's stability. Unfortunately, my GPA was quite low (3.3) and I had no chance of getting into the university's BSN program. I then transferred to a local cc, got all my pre-reqs finished, and I'm starting the ADN program this fall. On the bright side, I saved tons of money by going the ADN route.
  10. First off, take a breather. It's ok if you don't pass the first time. Depending on the school, you can retake it 30 days later. For the TEAS, you'll want to get some sort of study guide. I used the Mometrix study guide and the reading, math, and grammar prepared me pretty well for the actual test. The math is a little harder in the practice exams than on the actual test. For the science, do as many practice questions as you can. Quizlet is your friend. Don't understand a certain concept? Google and youtube are your friends. There's also free TEAS practice exams such as Free Test Prep for the TEAS & TEAS Practice Test | Free ATI TEAS Practice Questions.
  11. I'm taking micro right now and it's not that bad. If you're good at memorization, then you should have no problem in getting an A. I study about a week in advance (from an exam) for about two hours each day and I currently have an A average. Also, take good notes! There's a lot of note-taking involved (at least for my class) and it gives me a hand-ache. Go! You can do it! :)
  12. I also used the Mometrix study guide and used quizlet for the science section. There's also a couple of free TEAS practice tests online such as Union Test Prep (Free Test Prep for the TEAS) & Teas Practice Test (TEAS Practice Test | Free ATI TEAS Practice Questions). I'm sure there are other free practice tests available online. Good luck!
  13. I only applied to my local community college's program (ADN) and got in with a 4.0 GPA & 80 on the TEAS. *EDIT: As to how many semesters, it took me two semesters to finish my pre-reqs.
  14. I'm 19 and start nursing school in the fall.
  15. Look to see if there's a "lecture/lab" next to the professor's name. That's going to be your "main" teacher for the 183 class.
