Nov 2, 201015 yr I'm in a BSN program, finishing up my last pre-req's this semester. We have to apply to the nursing program during the last semester of these. The entry is based on GPA and TEAS score. :) I got in for next semester, but we have to keep a C in the classes we're taking right now or else we'll get dropped. We have to take:A&P I + labA&P II + labMicrobiology + labStatisticsIntro to SociologyCommunications (Public Speaking)English Comp. I English Comp. IIWorld LiteratureGeneral PsychologyDevelopmental Psychology (Human growth and development)American History IAmerican History IIFreshman Experience (Everyone who goes to my school has to take this, unless they are transferring from another college)2 Humanities courses (I took Art Appreciation and Music Appreciation)... I don't think I forgot anything. lol
Nov 3, 201015 yr For my ADN I need:English Composition IComputersSpeech CommunicationHuman Growth and DevelopmentCritical ThinkingCollege mathAnatomy and Physiology 1 & 2 + labsChemistry for health science + labMicrobiology.

It depends on your school though because community colleges require to be a CNA while Universities you don't have to be a CNA but it helps on your application as well. If you're applying at the community college, you don't have to take chemistry at all because it's not an university level. Hope this helps and God bless
Nov 3, 201015 yr It depends on your school though because community colleges require to be a CNA while Universities you don't have to be a CNA but it helps on your application as well. If you're applying at the community college, you don't have to take chemistry at all because it's not an university level. Hope this helps and God bless Do not assume that to be true in all cases just because it was for the schools you looked at. ALL schools are different. The community college that would have been my back up school DOES require Chemistry, and is why I couldn't apply to it for spring (though I got in for my first choice which was a diploma program which did not).....they also DO NOT require a CNA.
Nov 3, 201015 yr Oh yeah nutrition/health too. Those are for BSN only. Also not only BSN....Nutrition is required for the diploma program that I am starting in Feb.
Nov 3, 201015 yr The pre-req are: Intro to chemistry, Human Anatomy w/lab, Human Physiology w/lab, Microbiology w/lab, English composition, Fundamentals public communication, Critical thinking, and math. allot of this is GE requirements. In addition, you must take Nutrition, Psychology, Lifespan Development, Philosophy of ethics, Statistics, Cultural anthropology or Principles of sociology, or Social problems to complete the BSN.
Nov 3, 201015 yr I forgot to add at my state college, science courses are the deciding factor if you get in or not. each school is different, the city college in my town accepts students based on a lottery, my college goes by grades. So I would recommend look at other colleges see what they require and take the required courses and have them for back up, that is what I am doing.
Nov 3, 201015 yr I'm talking about at my school. Please read my comment again which I said "IT DEPENDS ON THE SCHOOL!" duh!
Nov 3, 201015 yr anatomy 1&2, microbiology, CNA license, math 120 or 126, psychology, lifespan of human development, humanities, human biology, nutrition
Nov 12, 201015 yr I would say check the school website you are planning to apply for as well since all schools have different pre-reqs.
Nov 19, 201015 yr For my ADN I need:English Composition IComputersSpeech CommunicationHuman Growth and DevelopmentCritical ThinkingCollege mathAnatomy and Physiology 1 & 2 + labsChemistry for health science + labMicrobiology.Hi, 1. Are some of these classes general edu? 2. Are these classes required when you walk in to college if you have no college education? (for the ADN program) 3. Do these classes have a time limit after you complete them, like the pre-reqs do? 4. Can I complete the geneal edu stuff before enrolling to complete the RN pre-reqs?
Just curious what are the pre-req's required for the nursing program your in?
