PLEASE I need help with gift basket ideas for nursing unit???

the last day of my externship is coming soon and I would like to make a basket for the nurses of my unit, but I need some nifty ideas. I would like to include lifesaver candies because nurses are life savers...but that's all I've got so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brownies, cookies, and baked goods are always a hit for the nurses on the run who are often too harried to get adequate nourishment during their shift.

At the end of my preceptorship I bought a basket from GiftBaskets.com for the unit nurses.. It was a tower of boxed Mrs. Fields cookies they could all share. :)

If you are into making something, you could make individual gift baggies that are similar to what one of my classmates made for all of us on our last day of class. She put different things into the bag and printed a little card that she put with the bag to explain what each one was; she called the the Nurse's Survival Kit:

Lifesaver - A reminder of the many times others will need your help

Snickers bar [she used a mini one you get in the big bags of them] - To remind you that laughter is the best medicine

Candle - To remind you that you can light up someone's day

Tissue - To dry tears, your own and someone else's

Starburst - For that burst of energy at the end of the shift

Button - To remind you that sometimes the best thing to do is just button your lips

Bath salts - To take you away at the end of the day

Marbles - To replace the ones you will lose (or have already lost!)

Playing Card - to help you be a better mind reader

Lollipop - To help you lick everyone's problems

Mint - To remind you your compassion is worth a mint to your patients

Alternatively if you are into DIY stuff, you could buy in bulk cheap things that every nurse could use and make little gift bags.. A good pen, a tin of mints, a chocolate bar, a little notebook for making notes on the run, a Sharpie, a roll of medical tape, etc.

If you don't have that much time, I second the opinion of the Edible Arrangements, if you have one closeby. :)

Coffee cups and fixings for coffee and other beverages are always nice. You could buy a few nice mugs and stuff each, and put a bow around it. Cheap, nice, and thoughtful.

I always loved the fruit baskets. No chocolate or baked good for me thanks. Those all seem to go directly to my thighs and butt. Fruit was so much lighter. And more refreshing to me

I second (or third?) the Edible Arrangements. They go fast on the unit! Most of them have the fruit that is dipped and fruit that is not so you can give the best of both worlds. Fresh fruit, and some chocolate! That way everyone wins! I also like the idea of the survival guide posted above; that is really neat.

They did that at my job too. Try getting an aerogarden. You can do comfortors, George Foreman grills.
