Hi everyone, I am writing to ask a question. My friend's cousin was hit by a car last week. When the car hit her, she flew up in the air and landed on the car windshield which busted open the front of her forehead. She then rolled off the car and onto the ground. She is now in a coma and on life support. Do you guys believe there's a chance she will recover? If so, what percentage? I personally believe that she might not make it but I'm hoping she will. Just want everyone's opinion on this.

So sorry to hear about this tragedy. You all will be in my prayers. The thing is it really depends on the extent of the damage done to her brain and othe internal organs. Like the above poster said: only tiime will tell. There is no way of predicting in this situation.

i'm sorry to hear of this. it sounds like she may not have been wearing a seat belt.
i was looking for some information on this for you that you could share with your friend. the coma is a symptom of the underlying injury to the head and brain.
i have to tell you that my father suffered a cerebral bleed when i was a teenager and was successfully saved. he lived, however, for many years with a lot of major disabilities as a result of it. this is often the case with people who survive major head injuries. there are always cases of miraculous healing. young age is a help. more and more the surgeons are getting better at intervening surgically and saving brain tissue. unfortunately, once specific brain tissue has died, brain damage results and is permanent.
sending healing energy your friends' cousin's way. . .

Day, how could she have worn a seatbelt? She was a pedestrian.
Shantae, each head injury pt is different, because the brain is often unpredictable and sometimes does what is least expected. That's why, unless there's brain death, it's hard for docs to say what will happen. Tweety is right, only time will tell.

I am sorry for both you and your friend, and her family. I will say some prayers, but like the others have said only time will tell. unfortunatly in medicine we still do not know all there is to know about the brain and injuries to the brain, and everyone resonds differently which is why we cannot give you a firm yes or no answer. I wish you the best.

So sorry. However, we can't offer any predictions as we don't know (nor do we need to know) the particulars. I am so sorry.
