Please Help Me!!!!!!!

hi, im in desperate need of everyones help and opinion, ive been taking the l.v.n course in california at a private/vocational school, im 3 weeks from completeing 3 out of 4 levels of the course, with 3 finals in the next 3 weeks; with that being said, i went to class on monday like i always do, and before class started my teacher pulled me to the side to sign some loan/finacial aid papers for the new year, and after i signed them and went to leave the office, my teacher told me she was terminating me, that i would not be able to move onto the next level. i yelled and was like, what? and was shocked, she handed me a letter instead of talking to me or explaing why. i couldnt even focus on the words let alone try and read some letter explaing why they wanted to drop me i was so mad and shocked, so i asked her to explain it to me, she basically went through her computer briefly and showed me a few grades all ranging from 73%-79% and i was like ok, and what are you trying to say? and she said that i was at a 74% and needed to be at 80% to move onto the next level, which i found out after enrolling in the school and had already started school.... anyways what im trying to get at is, the level wasnt even over, i had 3 finals in the next 3 weeks where i could've easily raised the 74% to there 80% requirements, so i feel completely robbed, ive been doing this for a year, 5 days week, neverending, non stop and to have them tell me 3 weeks before the nevel is over, that i cant go on when i still had time in that level to improve my g.p.a, just blows my mind! i want to know what the state g.p.a requirements are to be a lvn, because ive already invested 25k in this school for them to tell me that i have to pass with 80% every test and level to move on, but they dont even tell you this till you've already signed the papers and started school. i can understand a score of 80% to exit the course, but not every level and every test!! please help me!!!:uhoh3:

Welcome to these forums! :welcome:

When you type in all-capital letters, it is construed as "yelling" in cyberspace. I felt compelled to let you know that, simply as food for thought next time.

I, too, attended a private LVN program in Southern California about 2.5 years ago. My program regarded 78 percent as a passing score on all quizzes and tests. We were allowed to fail a test or quiz here or there, as long as the average grade was 78 percent at the end of each level.

I am sorry you're experiencing this painful moment. Next time, you need to read all documents before you sign them. Additionally, I would contact a lawyer to get a feel for any future options that you might be able to utilize. Good luck to you.

I'm not sure what you can do. I'll move your question to the California forum. Best wishes.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I think that they should at least give you the opportunity to take your exams to see if you can raise your grade.

Can you speak to the Dean of the school? Is it indicated in your syllabus or written somewhere that you must have a certain percentage by this time? If not, definitely speak to someone above her.

She told you all of this after you signed a contract obligating you financially for the next year? You need to seek an attorney without delay. She obtained your signature under false pretenses. You need to report her actions to the BRN at the same time you are suing the school. Your attorney will probably have you sue her individually also. Good luck and get going

Most schools will take your transfer credit so you can start at another school and not have to start from the beginning.

Take the advice of the other posters and get some legal representation. Good luck.

The original poster attended a private LVN program at a trade school. Typically, these institutions of higher learning tend to issue credits that are non-transferrable to other schools.

Im in kind of the same boat ....i was asked to leave school 1 week befor therory was finished...still left all of peds to do and preceptorship. I contacted the boards...U might want to try taking ur NCLEX using method #3 thats what im going to do.....my schools passing grade was a 70% which i kept ...i got an email from someone who works for the state saying i might have to get a job in ob and peds for 3 months but that they would tell me for sure when i mail in my application...ur education is not wasted...dont believe that...just means that u got to try harder...dont give up!!

You are right Commuter. But I heard that the private school Concorde here in SD was accredited and you could go on to get the LVN to RN in the community colleges because that was one school whose credits they accepted so I thought I would mention (whereas Maric was not transferable). Just two examples.
