So a teacher that is 3 weeks behind on content gets a pass. This program is rediculous and a joke. Literally the whole class had to retake a test for Test 2, when I say all 15 of us I'm not exaggerating! Then for test 3, 7 of us still didn't pass! The teacher is never available to talk to after class , Ever!!! The teacher reviews by rewording questions from the test paper! She has too since she is 3 weeks behind and only giving us less than 1 week to review for the comprehensive final!! A few of us not passing talked the old pharmacology teacher and other classmates went and told the new and current pharm teacher and made her mad! So now it's horrible! She has literally been evaluated for the last 4 weeks! Even my clinical teacher came to me to ask what's going on because the teacher not only teaches pharmacology but teaches community (2nd level) and half the people in that class is failing. I've been to this pharm teacher several times and had her approve my study guide twice and still not passed! I even stayed after class before and she was talking bad to us about her 2nd level students!! She said that she would never write recommendation letters and would bad mouth them because she has been a nurse for over 30 years and knows plenty of high level people and is mad at her students for not "respecting" her and talking bad about her. All she does is read word from word on the PowerPoint and when asked about anything she tell you to google or asks what does your book say. It's rediculous at this point and wasted time and money!!! We all have something going on in our lives! She complains about her daughter is sick , she caught the flu , blah blah blah!! She cannot answer simple questions and only respects students that kiss her butt which I will not!! She bad mouths students that are repeating the classes and it's taking it to far! I have to vent here because our director will do nothing!!! I mean I know nursing school is self teaching and learning but when you spend the whole day 5 days a week in class you would want to be learning something to! If I have to google questions I can do that at home!!! Our director said there were problems with students and instructors in the past at this school and I see why!! I get nursing is "hard" and pharm is but I've repeated classes for prerequisites before and every other class I have scored well above a 77% except this one! It's not fair she has her "teaching" schedule behind 3 weeks by the syllabus and we have less than a week to study for comprehensive final and have to cram material because she has let us get behind and wants to put literally 9 chapters on a test at a time! Rediculous!!

That's a bit "free flowing" and difficult to make sense of, but I'm getting that you don't like you're pharmacology teacher. Mine was a little nutty, too. She walked out of class once looking confused and said she wasn't sure if she was ever going to return. We all just sat there getting rather confused, ourselves.

To answer your question, I would suck it up and do what I needed to do to pass the class. If the instructor said, "Look it up." I would thank her for the suggestion and do just that.

I mean no I don't like her because she would feather gossip than to actually focus on the class I'm paying for. It's no excuse to be 3 weeks behind in the syllabus. If you can gossip you can teach, not tell your students to google material.

Sour Lemon is one of the wisest of us all. As you progress through nursing school you may find more of the "those who can't do, teach." You may also find fabulous nurses whose practice you should strive to emulate. Vent here, then finish the class. Best of luck.

Since you cannot change the instructor or her behavior, try to keep up with the information on your own. It may not seem "fair", but will only benefit you. I always told my children "if you can read you can learn anything". You should keep on track by following the syllabus and study / study / study. There are many helpful online tutorials, "Medcram" on you tube is a good one. Also our resident Pharmacist here has a great study guide here on AN for pharmacology. Good luck to you.

TRUTH.

I've been blessed with some great professors in my academic life, and some poor ones. I made it a habit when I didn't know something, to go out and find it myself. Sure, sometimes it can take a while, and it can be frustrating... But it's rewarding and it really puts you in control of your education.

Here's the best advice you'll ever get. I'm in a grad NP program. The professors don't "teach" us anything. We teach ourselves. In this age of the internet there is so much information available to you that it's hard not to be able to learn. Take the subject and learn the heck out of it, so that when you walk into an exam, it doesn't matter if the professor is nutty, or if your classmates are annoying, or what the average grade of your class is. Nothing matters except you and the work you've done. Buy this book and read it. Break everything up just like the book and you'll pass the exam. It's the best book on Pharmacology you'll ever read. Take responsibility for your own learning and then it will never matter how good or bad the teacher is. Your goal is to pass the exam. You can make that happen regardless of what's going on around you.

Suck it up and finish the class. Study on your own. You have the syllabus so read those topics and study on your own. It is not fair, but do what you gotta do and don't let anyone else get in the way.

Your Pharmacology teacher reminds me of the math teacher I had last year, half the class failing , can't answer simple questions , gossips , talks about problems with her daughter and makes fun of people who are repeating the class .

Half a class failing a pharm test sounds pretty normal to me. lol Stop looking for excuses and recognize that you're going to need to find more effective study habits. Looking for someone to blame for failing isn't going to help you.

Lol well stop being rude. She's actually getting dismissed after this semester and a class failing is never normal. No one wakes up in the morning and says hey I'm gonna pay to fail and waste my time. Have empathy as all nurses should have and stop being so judge mental and rude.

Stop saying just suck it up. What is wrong with the world? With that attitude you have no empathy at all to be a nurse. The rudest people pass these classes , it's all about numbers and being heartless.
